An absolutely fantastic desert trip, truly wonderful! 👍 The staff were all incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic ❤️🔥. The room facilities were superb, and all the activities were brilliant. Overall, it was the most unforgettable desert journey.

Ningxia Zhongwei Tengol is a benchmark for luxury desert resorts, nestled deep within the Tengger Desert. It took 130 million RMB and four years to build. The rammed earth architecture blends seamlessly with the sand dunes, recreating the ambiance of an ancient Silk Road city. The vintage furniture and antique carpets exude quality and sophistication. They offer immersive experiences such as desert off-roading, stargazing, and bonfires. With top-notch facilities and plenty of photo opportunities, it's a premium choice for those seeking breathtaking landscapes and a private getaway.

Great value for money! The room quality was excellent. The butler was very welcoming upon arrival, and there was an ample supply of fruit and bottled water. The evening performance was uplifting, and I heard the performers were actually the butlers – they really work hard! The iron flower (dahitiehua) show was stunning. The stargazing guide was professional and meticulous, and we even caught a glimpse of the starry sky, which was truly exhilarating. The art museum next door is also perfect for photos.

Staying at a desert hotel for the first time was quite an experience! I thought the courtyard rooms would open up to a desert view, but the 'courtyard' was more like a small balcony, which felt a bit pointless. You have to go to the rooftop for a view. Only the hot spring rooms offer a direct desert view from the door. The room itself was a bit dim but overall nice, and the bedding was comfortable. What I disliked was the bathtub in the living room with no privacy whatsoever. It's really just for show because you can't use it with family or friends around. It would have been better if it wasn't there at all; the pictures when booking didn't make this clear. The hotel's Chinese restaurant had excellent food, though a bit pricey, which is understandable considering it's in the desert. Breakfast would be fine if it were complimentary, but on the first day, we paid an extra 260 for my child's portion, and there wasn't much good to eat – she just had a glass of milk and two cookies. The next day, I learned my lesson: a glass of milk at the bar was only 40-50, and ordering food from the Chinese restaurant separately still came out to less than 200. The goji berry latte at the bar was delicious! The service was great, every staff member was enthusiastic and dedicated.

The facilities are excellent, with great attention to detail, making for a very comfortable stay. The bathtub was one of the few I've encountered while traveling that actually made me want to take a bath. The cleanliness was top-notch. The environment is truly photogenic, and there are plenty of activities available. The service was very good. However, I won't be returning, and I'd be hesitant to recommend it. This is because the soundproofing in the rooms is absolutely terrible! I'm not sure if it's due to the type of building structure or a design flaw during construction, but after one night, I truly understood what it means to hear 'the sound of wind, the sound of rain, the sound of reading – every sound clearly.' During the day, lying down, I could hear the engine of the surfing car from the nearby activity area, the screams of children and parents, and the constant opening and closing of fences. At night, when we were trying to sleep, the influencers in the next room started acting rowdy after drinking! They carried on until the early hours of the morning, and the rooms around us couldn't get any sleep! Thankfully, the butler gave them a warning, but it didn't really help much! Early the next morning, staff members arrived early for work and were loudly talking on the phone right next to our house. I could clearly hear things like 'If the client wants it this way, then don't do it that way.' The influencers also woke up early, constantly opening and closing doors, and chattering away while taking photos in the common areas. Every single one of these sounds was audible! It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a poor night’s sleep at a hotel in this price range. My husband even woke up with a headache the next day. If you're a heavy sleeper, go for it. I just hope you don't end up next to influencers, or that when the staff arranges rooms, they don't put regular people like us next to them.

This truly lives up to its reputation as a top desert hotel in China. The design, facilities, renovation quality, and service all show immense effort. Considering the price, I have two small suggestions: The shower stall would be better if it were fully enclosed. As it is, no matter how careful you are, the floor outside still gets wet. Also, there's no issue with positioning themselves as a family-friendly hotel, but the restaurant and the lounge area near the pool in the morning were a chaotic mess. Multiple children running around with constant screaming and no one supervising them is something that needs to be re-evaluated.

Facilities: The air conditioning in the room sometimes made a creaking noise, which disturbed my sleep. It wasn't constant, but it made for an unsettling night. The toilet seat was loose and wobbled when I sat on it. Also, the curtains let in light. Since I already had trouble sleeping at night, I wanted to sleep in a bit in the morning, but the light was already streaming into the room. So, I had a restless night and woke up early. Service: I had dinner at the Western restaurant in the evening. I ordered a steak, and they didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked. I had to proactively ask them if the steak had been prepared yet and suggested that they should ask about the doneness. Overall, my impression of this hotel is that the staff genuinely tries their best and wants to provide good service. However, the general training and management are clearly lacking and don't meet high standards. There's a big gap in terms of the overall hotel experience. While the decor and renovation are eye-catching, the service, on the whole, is deficient. During the entire service experience, one waitress in the Western restaurant, Ms. Meng, was very perceptive. When she realized I had issues with their service, she immediately came over and did her best to make amends. This truly stood out to me. The hotel staff indeed made a great effort to rectify the issues, which is commendable! However, I hope their overall service quality improves in the future to match the price point of this establishment.
