Alila Dong'ao Island Zhuhai

The hotel itself is a destination, and I've now checked another one off my list. Traveling from Shanghai to Zhuhai, then taking a ferry to Dong'ao Island, perhaps the journey itself is the meaning of travel. Before this, I had the pleasure of staying at Alila Wuzhen in Jiaxing. Its watery labyrinth, minimalist aesthetic, and profound sense of negative space left a deep impression. It truly embodied the philosophy of design adapted to its surroundings, an extension of Eastern aesthetics. Now, Alila Zhuhai, with its concept of 'scenery within a mirror, a mirror within scenery,' makes it worth enduring the long and tiring journey to experience this 'paradise' on Dong'ao Island.

My stay at Alila Dong'ao Island was absolutely fantastic! The hotel is nestled between mountains and the sea, offering a serene environment that's perfect for photos. The overall design blends seamlessly with the natural scenery, and every corner exudes elegance. The hotel also provides an exclusive travel photographer who was incredibly gentle and guided me through poses. I loved the editing style and color grading – truly superb! Of course, the stunning infinity pool offers unparalleled views directly facing the ocean. It's a fantastic spot for photos; every shot looks like it's straight out of a luxury travel magazine. Our butler, Colin, provided meticulous and thoughtful service. (He even offered one-on-one personalized service via WeChat, which was a nice touch!) From check-in to responding to our daily needs, he was always prompt, professional, and had a gentle demeanor. He made us feel incredibly well-cared for, anticipating many of our needs. I also ordered the hotel's set beef meal. The food tasted great, and the ingredients were fresh. The highlight: the eel noodles were incredibly delicious and had a unique texture! Both the main courses and snacks were perfectly to my taste, leaving me very satisfied. The hotel's facilities are comprehensive, making it convenient for relaxation, sightseeing, and getting around. The overall experience was top-notch, making it the perfect choice for a vacation on Dong'ao Island. Highly recommend!

The environment here is fantastic, really great for photos! The service attitude was excellent too. It was so easy traveling with kids, and the travel photography turned out beautifully.

For my April holiday in 2026, I once again chose Alila Dong'ao Island Zhuhai. I still opted for the Deluxe Seaview Room, and this time, the view was even more expansive than before. We still received daily fruit and sweet soup. Both Haitang for dinner and Haiyan for breakfast and dinner are excellent restaurants, and the service was, as always, consistently great! Our butler, Brian, was warm and attentive, always ready to answer any questions and fulfill any requests. I'll definitely be back!

The decor in both the public areas and the rooms is incredibly refined and comfortable, with a very innovative landscape design. It's an all-suite hotel, and in addition to the living room, there's an extra tearoom with a tatami mat, which is super convenient for families needing an extra bed. They provide fresh fruit and a late-night snack every day. On our two-night stay, we had mung bean soup and bird's nest soup respectively, which was a pleasant surprise. I also highly recommend the food at the Haitang restaurant. The gym is very well-equipped with Technogym machines. Overall, the service in all aspects was very thorough and thoughtful. A special shout-out to our butler, Colin, for his excellent service. While the experience elsewhere on Dong'ao Island was rather average, the hotel itself is truly impeccable. Highly recommended.

The hotel environment is beautiful and comfortable, and overall very clean and tidy. My stay was very relaxing. The food was also excellent, with great taste and exquisite presentation. What I loved most was the hotel's travel photography service; it produced fantastic photos, perfect for a vacation photoshoot.

Perfect trip, perfect hotel! This is an ideal destination for a relaxing getaway. The staff-to-guest ratio is impressive, leading to impeccable service. The entire hotel has a fantastic vibe, and the ocean views are absolutely unbeatable. The dining exceeded expectations, and the complimentary essential oil diffuser was a lovely touch. The included professional photography session (Jinghong Travel Photography) was also a big plus. Two days and one night here was definitely worth the price. Alila Dong'ao Island is just *the* perfect place to unwind and chill out, haha!

The hotel's location is excellent, and the interior design, furnishings, outdoor greenery, and pool all create a fantastic ambiance. The ocean view suite I booked offered stunning views. I enjoyed the sea salt breakfast and lunch at the hotel, and dinner at Haitang; the ingredients were very fresh, and the taste was great. Overall, a very good experience. Special shout-out to Colin – he was incredibly responsive to all our requests!

The weather was a bit unstable during the May Day holiday. It poured rain all afternoon on the first day, but there were plenty of indoor activities, so I didn't get bored. I also took advantage of the holiday to get some much-needed sleep. The semi-buffet breakfast was delicious, and it wasn't the same every day, even with consecutive stays, which was a thoughtful touch. The travel photoshoot provided by the hotel was excellent. The photographer had a great personality and was easy to communicate with. I highly recommend giving it a try!
