We loved this jewel-box hotel! It's beautifully located, on a pretty corner just two or three blocks from the river and easily within walking distance of the city center. The staff were very friendly and helpful (and spoke English). The breakfast room (also the setting for light lunches and aperitifs, though we didn't avail ourselves of either) is charming, showing the decorative touch of a discriminating eye. The same eye was at work in the lofty rooms--ours was pretty and airy, with a suzani-cushioned chair. The breakfast spread was varied and delicious and included cheeses, smoked salmon, and other savories that seemed exotic to an American but are standard for Europeans. Our only complaint was weekend street noise--the area does have some restaurants and the odd motorcycle or sports car, and owing to the absence of air-conditioning (and despite an excellent fan), one might want to have the windows open to cool the room after a hot day, as we did. (Zurich in summer can evidently be hot, people--strangely, 80 degrees there felt like 85 in our native Michigan.) If you're a light sleeper who turns in before midnight, you might want to avoid staying at this hotel on a summer weekend. We ourselves would love to return for a weekday stay
