The Church of San Juan is a true work of art, a breathtakingly beautiful mural. It's undoubtedly the best tourist attraction in Alarcón and all of Cuenca. The scale of his paintings and their significance is truly impressive. UNESCO's work is monumental. Walking through the Central Plateau of Spain ~ Cuenca (Region) This Catholic church, built in the 13th century, features two naves separated by pointed arches and ribbed vaults. Its 16th-century Plateresque-style open midday façade and the bell tower attached to the church are particularly striking, with a passageway left beneath the tower. Over time, the temple underwent various renovations, evolving from a single-nave Romanesque church to the addition of a second nave, a porch, a tower, and two small chapels in the 16th century, and finally, the construction of the last chapel in the 17th century. It is now open to the public as a tourist attraction but is no longer used as a place of worship.

Highlights include the southern gate, the baptismal font, the tabernacle, the Baroque choir, and most importantly, the Renaissance altarpiece dedicated to the life of the Virgin Mary. This is the only church among all existing ones in the area that still holds Mass and Christian worship services. The altarpiece is particularly impressive and is considered one of the finest in the region. Its history dates back to 1572, depicting the life of the Virgin Mary. The 16th-century church showcases a transition from Gothic to Renaissance architectural styles.

Due to the beauty and harmony of its monuments and natural surroundings, it has been declared a Historic and Artistic Site. The village walls, which remain largely intact, surround much of the town. There's also a castle, the main structure of which still stands, bearing witness to important events during the Reconquista; today, this monument houses the local Parador de Turismo.
