#portugal #algarve Some of our favorite travel days aren’t packed with attractions, they’re simply about slowing down and enjoying beautiful places. That’s exactly what this day in the Algarve felt like. After breakfast, we drove to Ponta João de Arens, one of the most beautiful viewpoints we found during our trip. The best part? You can park just a short walk away. From there, a network of small trails leads you along the cliffs, revealing breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, hidden coves, and the Algarve’s famous golden limestone rock formations. What makes this coastline so unique is that these dramatic cliffs were sculpted over millions of years by the constant action of the Atlantic Ocean, wind, and rain. Little by little, nature carved arches, caves, and towering rock formations, creating one of Europe’s most spectacular coastlines. The contrast between the turquoise water and the golden cliffs is incredible, and every turn seems to reveal another postcard-worthy view. It was peaceful, quiet, and surprisingly uncrowded. If you enjoy photography, this is a place you definitely shouldn’t skip. After spending some time exploring the viewpoints, we drove just a few minutes to Praia do Alemão (Barranco das Canas). Parking was easy, and since we had a car, getting there couldn’t have been more convenient. If you’re looking for a beach that’s beautiful without being overcrowded, this one is perfect. Soft golden sand, crystal-clear water, dramatic cliffs, and a much more relaxed atmosphere than some of the Algarve’s famous beaches. From there, we walked along the coast to Praia do Vau, another peaceful beach with the same stunning scenery. One of the things we love most about the Algarve is that many beaches are connected by coastal paths, so you can enjoy several beautiful spots in a single walk while taking in the views. We visited at the end of May, and honestly, we couldn’t have chosen a better time. The weather was already warm enough for a beach day, the ocean looked spectacular, and most places were still relatively quiet before the busy summer season began. As an added bonus, many parking areas were still free before June, making it even easier to explore the region by car. Sometimes the best travel memories don’t come from famous landmarks. Sometimes they’re made from sunshine, salty air, a quiet beach, and nowhere else you need to be. Those are often the moments we remember the longest. 🌊💙 ⸻ 💡 Our Tips 📍 Start your morning at Ponta João de Arens before heading to the beach. 🚗 Having a car makes exploring this part of the Algarve much easier. 🥾 Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to explore the cliffside trails. 🌅 Late May is a fantastic time to visit: warm weather, fewer crowds, and easier parking. 🏖️ Walk between Praia do Alemão and Praia do Vau—the coastal scenery is just as beautiful as the beaches themselves.

I recommend Café Solen in Alvor! It's a small cafe located in the center of Alvor, but they sell coffee and drinks, and the owner is so kind!! I visited the Ría de Alvor Nature Reserve in Alvor. This place was truly peaceful and a perfect spot to enjoy nature. The walking trail along the coastline was wonderful, and I could also see locals fishing. I strolled along the decked walking path, slowly taking in the natural surroundings—it was truly healing.
