Amman is a city that might not dazzle you at first glance, but the longer you stay, the more its unique character reveals itself. The Jordanian capital is perched across several hills, draped in cream-colored stone buildings that follow the natural slopes. From a high vantage point, the cityscape unfolds in a dense tapestry of mosques, winding roads, and residential homes. Amman’s rhythm isn’t defined by flashy luxury or monumental landmarks; it’s the authentic vibrancy of a city where people truly live. A great starting point is the Amman Citadel, situated on a hilltop offering panoramic views. Within its grounds lie the ruins of the Temple of Hercules, Roman columns, and the Umayyad Palace—remnants that showcase the layers of history woven into Amman’s fabric. Standing here is the perfect introduction to the city, allowing you to see both the ancient past and the sprawling modern present below. The Roman Theatre is another must-visit. This massive ancient site sits right in the heart of the old city, highlighting the seamless connection between history and daily life. The surrounding area is bustling with shops, markets, dessert stalls, and locals going about their day. For a more contemporary vibe, head to Rainbow Street in the evening. It’s lined with restaurants, cafes, and spots to relax while soaking in the city views. What truly makes Amman endearing are the food and the people. Whether it's falafel, hummus, mansaf, or traditional Arabic sweets, the flavors are authentic and soulful. This is a city best explored at a slow pace; don’t overpack your schedule. Often, the most memorable moments come from a tiny roadside shop, the sounds of the market, or the sight of stone buildings glowing on the hills at sunset. Amman doesn't try to impress you every second; instead, it offers a quiet warmth and rich details that will stay with you long after you've left.

Had a great flight from Amman to Riyadh!

Setting an alarm for 5:30 AM while on vacation feels like a self-inflicted punishment. Your bed is comfortable, the blackout curtains are doing their job, and every rational thought in your brain tells you to hit snooze. But there is a specific kind of magic that only exists during that brief thirty-minute window when a city transitions from total stillness to early morning light. Over my recent travels, I made it a personal habit to drag myself out of bed across different countries, simply to catch the first light. Looking back through my camera roll, every single missed hour of sleep was worth it. Here are seven completely different sunrise moments caught across Spain, Italy, Turkey, and Jordan—each with its own distinct mood, energy, and morning rhythm: 1-The Open Sea Edge: Barcelona Beach (Barcelona, Spain) Standing on the cold, soft sand of Barcelona before the city wakes up is an entirely different experience than visiting during the afternoon. The beach is completely empty save for a few early runners. The sun comes up directly over the horizon of the Mediterranean Sea, turning the gentle tide into liquid gold. There are no loud crowds, no street vendors, and no music—just the rhythmic, heavy sound of waves washing ashore against the quiet city backdrop. 2-The High-Angle Skyline: Barcelona Hotel Room View Sometimes you don't even need to leave your room to catch the magic. Stepping onto a hotel balcony just as the first pale light creeps over the horizon gives you a bird’s-eye perspective on the city. You watch the dark silhouettes of apartment blocks and grand avenues slowly gain color, the streetlights clicking off one by one, and the distant sea catching the very first glint of orange daylight while the streets below remain completely silent. 3-The Still Reflection: The Arno River (Pisa, Italy) If ocean sunrises are energetic, river sunrises are pure tranquility. Walking down to the Arno River in Pisa at dawn feels like stepping into a peaceful painting. The air is crisp and completely still, turning the surface of the river into a perfect, glassy mirror. The pastel pink and soft yellow hues of the sky reflect off the historic Italian facades lining the bank, with not a single tourist or tour bus in sight. 4-The Harbor Calm: Fethiye Marina View (Muğla, Turkey) Waking up in Fethiye to a hotel balcony view over the marina offers a distinct coastal charm. Early in the morning, the water inside the bay is as flat as glass. As the sun climbs over the surrounding pine-covered mountains, it casts long, warm rays across the harbor, lighting up the tall wooden masts of parked gulets and yachts. The only sound is the subtle clinking of boat ropes against masts and the distant call of seabirds. 5-The Mountain Cloud Oasis: Rize Bungalow Breakfast (Black Sea, Turkey) Far away from coastal beaches, sunrise in the green lush hills of Rize hits differently. Perched in a wooden bungalow overlooking steep tea plantations, the morning starts with heavy mist and low-hanging clouds rolling through the valleys. Watching the sun break through the mountain fog while sitting on a wooden deck with a spread of hot çay, local cheeses, freshly baked bread, and hazelnut butter is easily one of the most grounding travel experiences you can have. 6-The Golden Limestone Hills: Morning Streets of Amman (Jordan) There is a rugged, authentic beauty to watching sunrise in a hill city like Amman. As the sun rises over the eastern ridge, its warm golden light washes across the iconic white and cream limestone buildings stacked along the steep hillsides. The cool morning air carries the faint scent of fresh bread from neighborhood bakeries opening their doors, while the long shadows slowly shrink across the empty stone staircases and quiet residential streets. 7-The sunrise at the airplane ✈️. Looking through these moments, it becomes clear that every destination reveals its true, unfiltered character in the quiet of the morning before the rush of tourism takes over. So, I want to open this up to the community: Are you an early-bird traveler who sets alarms for sunrise photography, or are you strictly on team sleep-in until noon when you're on holiday? Out of these six styles, which sunrise setting speaks to you the most: beach waves, peaceful rivers, hotel room city views, mountain clouds over breakfast, harbor marinas, or quiet city streets? Drop your favorite morning travel photos and tips below—where is the best sunrise you've ever caught? 👇 #sunrisescenes #pisa #italytravel #italy #travel #spain #barcelona #jordan #airplane

Anyone who has seen Petra in photographs remembers the Treasury. But emerging from the narrow Siq and arriving in front of that rose red façade does not mean you have seen Petra. It is only the gateway to an entire city, where more than 2,000 years of history were written into stone. Petra lies near Wadi Musa in southern Jordan. More than two millennia ago, it became the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom and an important stop along trade routes linking Arabia, Egypt and the Mediterranean. The rock carvings are impressive, but Petra’s story goes much deeper. The Nabataeans managed to build a thriving city in a dry landscape by creating channels, dams and reservoirs to collect and control water. Look closely inside the Siq and you can still see parts of that ancient system. Petra is called the Rose City for good reason. Its sandstone changes throughout the day, moving between shades of pink, red, orange and even soft purple. The colours seen through a phone camera may not look quite the same as they do to the eye. It is also often called the Lost City, although Petra was never truly forgotten by the local Bedouin community. The archaeological site may belong to ancient history, but the people living around it are still part of Petra’s story today. Entering Petra through the Siq 🏜️ The journey begins at Petra Visitor Center. From there, the path passes through Bab Al Siq before entering the Siq, a natural gorge stretching for more than a kilometre. In some places, the passage becomes so narrow that the sandstone walls seem to close in from both sides. The light keeps changing as you walk, revealing different colours, textures and small details in the rock. The Siq is not simply a road leading to Petra’s main attraction. It is part of the experience. Ancient water channels run along its walls, quietly showing how the Nabataeans carried water into their city. Near the end, a thin opening between the rocks begins to reveal part of the Treasury. A few more steps and the full façade appears. This is Al Khazneh, better known as the Treasury. Despite its name, it was probably not used to store treasure. Its exact purpose remains uncertain, but many researchers believe it may have been a royal tomb or ceremonial monument. Take your photo, enjoy the moment, and then keep walking. Petra has only just started. Don’t stop at the Treasury Beyond the Treasury, the route continues towards the Street of Facades, where rows of tombs were carved directly into the cliffs. Not far away is Petra’s large theatre. It is often called the Roman Theatre, but the original structure was carved by the Nabataeans before being expanded during Roman rule. Thousands of people could once gather here, which gives a better sense of how active and populated Petra must have been. The Royal Tombs deserve time too. The Urn Tomb, Silk Tomb, Corinthian Tomb and Palace Tomb each have their own shape, details and layers of colour. Walking up towards them also opens wider views across the ancient city. Continue along the main trail and you will reach the Colonnaded Street, the Great Temple and Qasr Al Bint, one of Petra’s most important temples. By this point, Petra no longer feels like a single monument. It begins to look like what it once was: a living city with streets, temples, markets and public spaces. Then comes the Monastery, known locally as Ad Deir. Reaching it requires climbing around 800 stone steps. The path can be steep, exposed and tiring, so this is not the place to use all your energy too quickly. Rest when you need to and keep some water with you. At the top, the Monastery appears across a wide open space. Its façade is even larger than the Treasury, and the surrounding viewpoints look out over Petra’s rugged mountains. By the time you reach it, your shoes may be dusty and your legs may have had enough. The view tends to make the effort feel worthwhile. One day or two? Petra can be explored in one full day, but it needs to be a genuinely full day. Arrive early and be prepared to walk. The main trail from the Visitor Center is approximately 3.9 kilometres in one direction. Once the Monastery, Royal Tombs and additional viewpoints are added, the total walking distance can easily pass 10 kilometres. With one day, focus on the Siq, Treasury, Street of Facades, Royal Tombs, Colonnaded Street and the Monastery. With two days, you can slow down, stop for photographs and explore some of the longer trails without constantly checking the time. Two day and three day tickets must be used on consecutive days. Petra normally opens early, around 6:00 or 6:30 AM depending on the season. Those first hours offer cooler air, softer light and fewer people around the Treasury. Opening and closing times can change, so check the official schedule before visiting. Getting to Petra from Amman 🚍 Petra is about 235 kilometres from Amman. Travelling by private car or transfer along the Desert Highway usually takes around three hours. JETT buses also operate between Amman and Petra. They generally leave early in the morning, but departure times can change during weekends, public holidays and Ramadan. Check the latest timetable and reserve ahead if travelling during a busy period. A day trip from Amman is possible, but it can turn Petra into a race against the return bus. Staying at least one night around Petra gives you a much easier start and enough time to enjoy the site without watching the clock all day. Petra tickets and the Jordan Pass 🎟️ For international visitors spending at least one night in Jordan, the current daytime entrance fees are: · One day: 50 JOD, approximately US$70.50 · Two consecutive days: 55 JOD, approximately US$77.55 · Three consecutive days: 60 JOD, approximately US$84.60 The USD estimates in this post use an exchange rate of 1 JOD to US$1.41. If Petra is part of a longer Jordan trip, the Jordan Pass may offer better value. It includes entry to more than 40 attractions around the country, including Petra, Wadi Rum, Jerash and several museums and archaeological sites. · Jordan Wanderer with one day at Petra: 70 JOD, approximately US$98.70 · Jordan Explorer with two days at Petra: 75 JOD, approximately US$105.75 · Jordan Expert with three days at Petra: 80 JOD, approximately US$112.80 Eligible travellers who purchase the Jordan Pass before arrival and remain in Jordan for at least two nights, or three days, may also have the tourist visa fee waived. The Jordan Pass is not a visa. Entry requirements still depend on your passport, so check your eligibility before purchasing it. Carry your passport when visiting Petra, as it may be requested at the ticket office. Ticket prices, exchange rates and conditions can change. Confirm the latest information on the official Visit Petra and Jordan Pass websites before travelling. Is Petra by Night worth it? 🕯️ Petra by Night offers a very different view of the site. Visitors walk through the Siq under candlelight before gathering in front of the illuminated Treasury. At the time of writing, the experience runs from Sunday to Thursday, starting at 8:30 PM and finishing at around 10:30 PM. A ticket costs 30 JOD, approximately US$42.30. Petra by Night is not included with the daytime ticket or Jordan Pass, so it must be purchased separately. If seeing the Treasury under candlelight is high on your list, it can add a special evening to the trip. If your budget is tight, it is not essential. Daytime Petra already offers the fuller experience, while the night programme follows only part of the site. Schedules and prices may change, so check again before choosing your date. Where to stay near Petra 🛏️ After spending the day walking through Petra, a quiet night among the surrounding rock formations sounds like a good way to rest. The Rock Camp Petra is worth considering for a one night stay. It is located in Al Baydha near Little Petra, around 14 kilometres from Petra Visitor Center. The drive usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. This is important to know before booking. The camp is not within walking distance of Petra’s main entrance, so arrange a taxi or hotel transfer in advance. When I checked Trip.com, rooms at The Rock Camp Petra started from US$63 per night. An optional buffet breakfast was available for US$11.31. It suits travellers who want more than a convenient bed in town and would rather spend the night in a quieter setting surrounded by Jordan’s rocky landscape. Room rates, breakfast prices and availability depend on the travel dates, so check the latest price on Trip.com before booking. A few things to know before you go · Wear comfortable shoes with good grip. Petra has sand, uneven stone paths and some steep climbs. Soft shoes without enough traction may feel fine at first but become difficult on the higher trails. · Carry water, sunscreen, a hat and a light extra layer. It can feel warm under direct sunlight and surprisingly cool inside the Siq or shaded areas. · Start early. It is better to enjoy the Treasury before the largest crowds arrive and cover the exposed sections before the afternoon heat. · Bedouin stalls along the route sell water, tea, snacks and souvenirs. Carrying some Jordanian dinars in cash can be useful. · Agree on the full price before accepting horse, donkey, camel, photography or guiding services. Consider your own safety and the condition of the animal before choosing to ride. · Ask permission before photographing local people. Petra is a historical site, but it is also connected to a living community. · Do not climb restricted structures or leave marked routes simply for a photograph. · Check the weather, especially during winter or after heavy rain. The narrow Siq can be temporarily closed when there is a risk of flash flooding. · Take breaks and drink regularly. Petra is not a place where you need to rush through every stop. Saving some energy for the Monastery will make the final climb much easier. You can travel to Petra for one photograph in front of the Treasury. But if you keep walking, the city gives you something larger. There are tombs, temples, streets, water channels and a long climb leading deeper into the mountains. Together, they tell the story of people who learned how to build and live in a place that does not make survival easy. When the time comes to walk back through the Siq, it probably will not be the Treasury alone that stays in your memory. The Treasury is simply where Petra begins. #petra #jordan #visitpetra #rosecity #thetreasury #nabataeans #wadimusa #petrabynight #jordantravel #petratravel #ancientcity #middleeasttravel #unescoworldheritage #travelbucketlist #tripmoments

Enjoying my trip at Amman,Jordan

There’s a moment when you first walk through the Siq — a narrow, winding canyon with walls rising high on either side — and just as you think the rock will never end, it splits open, and Petra appears. Nothing quite prepares you for that first glimpse of the Treasury glowing rose-gold in the sun. 🏛️ A City Hidden in Stone Petra isn’t built — it’s carved. The Nabataeans sculpted an entire civilization straight into the sandstone cliffs over two thousand years ago, and walking through it feels like stepping into a story that time forgot to finish telling. Tombs, temples, and theaters rise from the rock in impossible detail, still holding their color after all these centuries. 🐫 Beyond the Treasury Most visitors stop at the Treasury, but Petra keeps unfolding the further you walk. The Monastery, perched atop 800 rock-cut steps, rewards the climb with a view that feels almost otherworldly. Bedouin guides and their camels move quietly through the valley, adding to the sense that this place exists slightly outside of time. 🌙 Petra by Night If you can, come back after dark. The path to the Treasury is lined with candles, and the ancient façade glows softly under starlight while traditional music drifts through the canyon. It’s one of those rare travel moments that feels less like sightseeing and more like magic. 🛏️ Where to Stay Wadi Musa, the town just outside Petra’s entrance, offers everything from budget guesthouses to hotels with sweeping desert views — perfect for an early start before the crowds arrive. 🚗 Getting There Petra is roughly a 3-hour drive from Amman, or closer still from Aqaba. Private transfers and guided day trips make the journey easy and comfortable. 📍 Book Your Petra Adventure Discover Petra tours, Wadi Musa hotels, and Jordan travel packages on Trip.com — your gateway to one of the world’s most magical ancient wonders.

#epictravelmoments Above Amman 🇯🇴 Standing at the Amman Citadel feels like looking at two different worlds at once. Around me were the remains of ancient temples, weathered stone columns and the beautiful halls of the Umayyad Palace. Below, modern Amman stretched endlessly across the hills, with the Roman Theatre sitting right in the middle of it all. What I loved most was the contrast. These ruins have watched civilizations rise and disappear, while the city continued growing around them. Some walls are broken, some columns are barely standing, yet somehow the place still feels powerful. And when the clouds moved across the sky and the sunlight hit those old stones… the whole citadel became even more dramatic. Not every epic place needs to be perfectly preserved. Sometimes it’s the pieces that survived that make you stop and imagine everything that once stood here. 📍 Amman Citadel, Jordan 🇯🇴 ✨ Come for the ruins. Stay for one of the best views over Amman.

This itinerary hits all the ancient ruins, deserts, and seas! 🇯🇴✨

#overratedspots Madaba is known as the “City of Mosaics,” so naturally I expected to be completely blown away. And yes — the mosaics are incredibly detailed. Some of them have survived for centuries, with tiny pieces forming animals, people, patterns and stories beneath your feet. Walking through the Burnt Palace and Martyrs Church area almost feels like discovering pieces of a giant ancient puzzle. But… would I say Madaba was one of the highlights of Jordan? Probably not. 😅 After Petra, Wadi Rum and the dramatic landscapes elsewhere in Jordan, Madaba felt much quieter and less memorable for me. Interesting? Definitely. Beautiful craftsmanship? Absolutely. But I probably wouldn’t travel here just for Madaba. If it’s already on your route between Amman, Mount Nebo or the Dead Sea, then it’s a lovely stop for a couple of hours. But as a destination on its own? A little overrated for me. 👀🇯🇴 Sometimes a place can be historically fascinating without becoming your favourite — and that’s exactly how Madaba felt to me.

Everyone comes to Jordan for Petra. I almost skipped Amman entirely. A local in the airport shuttle told me I'd regret it. He was right. Amman is not a city that performs for visitors. It's a city that lives for itself. Seven hills covered in white stone houses. Roman ruins in the middle of a roundabout. The smell of falafel and cardamom coffee drifting through the old souk. Here's how I fell for the capital nobody told me about. 🏛️ 6:30 AM — The Roman Theatre Before The Heat Amman's Roman Theatre is carved into a hillside. It was built in the 2nd century when the city was called Philadelphia. At dawn, it's empty. I climbed to the top row. The city spread out below, white and gold in the morning light. The acoustics are perfect. I whispered a word from the stage and heard it clearly at the top. A stray cat followed me up the steps. We sat together and watched the city wake. The call to prayer echoed from a nearby minaret. The cat didn't flinch. Neither did I. 💸 2 JOD (about 3 USD) 📍 @Roman Theatre ⏰ At opening ☕ 9:00 AM — Turkish Coffee In An Alley Older Than Memory The old souk of Amman is a maze of narrow alleys. Spice shops. Gold sellers. Tailors working with sewing machines older than my parents. I found a coffee shop with no name, just a wooden bench outside and a man named Abu Ahmad roasting beans over a fire. He ground the beans by hand. He brewed the coffee in a brass pot. He poured it into a tiny cup. The cardamom hit my nose before the coffee hit my tongue. I drank it slowly. He watched. "Good?" he asked. Very good. He smiled. His teeth were stained with coffee and tobacco. This is Amman. Rough and warm and honest. 💸 0.50 JOD (less than 1 USD) 📍 Alley near @Grand Husseini Mosque 🏺 11:00 AM — The Citadel Where Empires Overlap The Amman Citadel is a hilltop with ruins from every civilization that ever held this land. Roman columns. Byzantine churches. Umayyad palaces. The Temple of Hercules, with its massive stone fingers still reaching for the sky. I walked through the ruins. The city spread out below in every direction. The Roman Theatre from a different angle. The Jordanian flag snapping in the wind. An old man in a keffiyeh sat in the shade, sipping tea. He offered me some. We drank together. He pointed at the ruins. "My grandfather played here as a boy," he said. "His grandfather too." This is not a museum. It's a living room. 💸 3 JOD (about 4 USD) 📍 @Amman Citadel 🥙 1:00 PM — The Falafel That Ruined Other Falafel Hashem Restaurant is an institution. It's been serving falafel and hummus since 1952. No menu. No frills. Plastic chairs. Metal tables. The falafel arrives hot and crisp, perfect spheres of fried chickpea. The hummus is smooth as silk, drizzled with olive oil. The bread is baked in a wood oven next door. I ate with my hands, the way you should. The waiter kept bringing more without me asking. When I finished, he refused my tip. "You are guest," he said. "Guest is family." I've eaten falafel all over the world. Nothing comes close. 💸 3 JOD (about 4 USD) 📍 @Hashem Restaurant 🛁 3:00 PM — The Hammam Where Men Pray And Sweat Jordanian hammams are not spa experiences. They're communal. I went to a local one in the old city. Men in towels. Steam thick as fog. A man scrubbed my skin with a rough mitt until I was pink and raw. He poured buckets of hot water over my head. The room echoed with voices and splashing. An old man was praying quietly in the corner. I closed my eyes. The heat soaked into my bones. I emerged into the afternoon light feeling lighter than I had in months. 💸 5 JOD (about 7 USD) 📍 Local hammam near @Al-Balad 🌅 5:30 PM — Rainbow Street At Golden Hour Rainbow Street is Amman's cultural spine. Cafés, bookshops, art galleries. I walked it as the sun began to set. The buildings glowed honey-colored. Young couples walked hand in hand. A bookseller sat outside his shop, reading. I bought a novel by a Jordanian author. He wrapped it in newspaper. I sat at a café and read the first chapter. The call to prayer began. The city paused. I paused too. This is Amman. Ancient and modern, loud and gentle, all at once. 💸 Free to wander 📍 @Rainbow Street 🍽️ 8:00 PM — Dinner On A Rooftop Over The City Amman is built on seven hills. The rooftops have views everywhere. I went to a restaurant called Sufra, a restored villa with a terrace overlooking the old city. I ordered mansaf, the national dish of Jordan. Lamb cooked in fermented yogurt sauce, served over rice with almonds and pine nuts. It arrived on a massive platter. I ate with my hands, the traditional way. The lamb fell off the bone. The yogurt sauce was tangy and rich. The lights of Amman spread out below. A wedding party in the next room erupted in song. I raised my glass of mint lemonade. Some stranger raised theirs back. 💸 12 JOD (about 17 USD) 📍 @Sufra Restaurant 🌙 10:30 PM — The City That Doesn't Sleep (But Pretends To) Amman doesn't have the nightlife of Beirut or the chaos of Cairo. It's quieter. More reserved. But it doesn't sleep. I walked through the old city at night. The shops were closed. The streets were empty except for cats and night watchmen. The mosques were lit up. The hills glowed with a million lights. I sat on the steps of the Roman Theatre. The city was silent and beautiful. A young man walked past, smoking a cigarette. He offered me one. I said no. He nodded and walked on. Some cities perform. Amman simply is. 🆓 Free 📍 @Roman Theatre at night 🏨 Where I Stayed (And Woke Up To The Call To Prayer) The House Boutique Suites — a modern hotel on a quiet street near Rainbow Street. My room had a balcony with a view of the old city. Booked via Trip.com. 💸 ~100 USD/night via Trip.com 💡 Five Things Amman Told Me · The call to prayer is not background noise. It's a rhythm. Let it set the pace of your day. · Hashem Restaurant is not optional. Go hungry. · Trip.com eSIM had perfect signal even in the deepest souk alleys. · Learn "shukran" (thank you) and "marhaba" (hello). The warmth in return will stay with you. · Amman is not Petra. That's exactly why you should stay a while. Amman is the city everyone uses as a gateway to somewhere else. But it's not a gateway. It's a destination. A city of seven hills and Roman ruins and falafel that ruins all other falafel. A city where strangers give you tea and refuse your tips and call you family. I came for one night. I stayed for five. Who would understand!! As I walked through the 1.5 km long, narrow, and imposing Siq canyon, the midday sun cast slender beams through the 80-meter-high rock crevices. Suddenly, the Treasury emerged from the crimson cliffs—the moment I realized that “Jordan” is never just about floating in the Dead Sea. It is an encounter with Petra and time, a millennia-old dialogue between nature and human craftsmanship, a story of “awe and eternity” told every time you look up. Here lies the most mysterious lost city among the new seven wonders of the world, where the air is filled with the scent of sandstone and camel bells. The stories hidden in the rose-colored cliffs are more vivid than any filter and more touching than any guidebook. The Treasury: the “rose-colored treasure” breaking through the cliff Known as “Petra’s most stunning visual landmark,” the 40-meter-high Treasury (Al-Khazneh) is as beautiful as a “frozen miracle.” It wasn’t built by stacking stones but carved bit by bit by the Nabataeans from the cliff’s top down, using pickaxes and long-handled axes on a single sandstone block. When you meet it at the end of the canyon, watching the angel statues flicker in the light and shadow, and the sandstone shift in color from deep red to golden brown under the sun, it feels as if the entire building is breathing. You’ll feel like you’ve “walked into the Holy Grail’s hiding place in Indiana Jones,” your heartbeat syncing with the millennia-old rock. Every photo captures the perfect blend of ruggedness and sacredness. The Siq canyon: the “time tunnel” to the lost city As “Petra’s ultimate entrance ritual,” the winding Siq canyon (Siq) is as beautiful as a “natural painting split by a giant axe.” The 80-meter-high cliffs on both sides look as if cleaved by a giant axe. At noon, sunlight streams through the crevices, illuminating the carved ceramic water channels on the cliffs—one of the Nabataeans’ proudest inventions. After walking through this intense natural passage, when the full view of the Treasury suddenly appears, the overwhelming sense of revelation is immediate. You’ll feel like you’re “standing at the crossroads of time and space,” breathing cautiously, afraid to disturb this millennia-old mystery. The Monastery: the “temple in the clouds” atop 800 steps As “Petra’s most hardcore deep experience,” the Monastery (Ad-Deir) is “grand and magnificent.” This building, even larger than the Treasury, requires climbing over 800 steep steps carved into the natural rock. At the summit, the wind sweeps sand across your face, and the Wadi Araba valley spreads below like a red sea. The cross carvings on the walls silently tell the story of Byzantine Christianity’s spread here. Sitting at the top, overlooking the view, you’ll feel like you’ve “understood the city’s history,” as time slows down, and it feels like the next moment you could embrace this desert rose and the tranquility that spans a thousand years. Petra by night: the “millennial sigh” lit by candlelight As “Petra’s most healing soul touch,” the night tour of Petra is as beautiful as “a dream crossing a thousand years.” At dusk, hundreds of oil lamps wind through the Siq canyon like a golden river, and the Treasury’s silhouette floats like a temple in the dim light. The Bedouin flute sounds from behind the cliffs, like a sigh traveling through the ages. Sitting on a carpet in the Treasury square, sipping mint tea and listening to guides tell stories of Nabataean merchants trading spices for silk, you’ll feel like you’ve “stepped into the fantasy of One Thousand and One Nights,” gaining a deeper understanding of this land: time here has never truly passed. Tour routes Classic route: hike through Siq canyon > check in at the Treasury > Roman theater > royal tombs (8:00 AM–12:00 PM, for panoramic views and light and shadow) Deep route: climb 800 steps to the Monastery > overlook the ancient city from the high altar > Petra by night candlelight show (2:00 PM–9:00 PM, for a mix of hardcore and romance) Equipment Canon R6 with wide-angle lens (for temple panoramas and canyon depth) + phone (for cliff details and candlelight night scenes) BGM Traditional Arabic oud music or ethereal natural white noise (to match Petra’s mystery and history) Tips Best time: strongly recommend entering before 7:00 AM to avoid the midday heat and enjoy the Treasury’s rose-colored light in the soft morning glow; spring and autumn (March–May, September–November) offer the most pleasant climate. Transportation: about 3 hours by car or private transfer from the capital Amman; mainly walking inside the ancient city, with horse or mule rentals available for those who need assistance. Recommended attire: wear comfortable sneakers (the ancient city’s hiking is very demanding); earth tones, khaki, or flowing red dresses are recommended to perfectly complement the rose-colored sandstone; bring a windbreaker as desert temperatures vary greatly between morning and night. Safety details: strong sun exposure inside the ancient city requires sufficient drinking water and sun protection; the Monastery’s steps are steep, so watch your footing and proceed according to your ability; respect local Bedouin culture and ask permission before photographing people. Avoid pitfalls: it’s recommended to buy a two-day ticket (55 Jordanian dinars) as one day is not enough to explore this vast stone city; avoid “free guides” who aggressively solicit on the street to prevent being asked for high tips; Petra by Night requires a separate ticket, so book in advance on the official website. Extended experiences: enjoy a cup of freshly brewed Bedouin coffee in front of the Treasury at dawn to experience the most authentic desert atmosphere; find a less crowded spot on the opposite cliff for a unique aerial view of the temple and canyon; on weekends, visit Wadi Musa town outside the ancient city to savor authentic Jordanian grilled lamb.

One-day tour around Amman, Jordan, with two hidden gems in one trip! Dead Sea + Jerash Ancient City, from the magical floating experience at the world's lowest elevation point to the historical shock of the ancient Roman city, easy to enjoy even for family trips. The guide is ready, just copy it! 🌊Must-try Dead Sea Experience The Dead Sea, the world's lowest elevation point, is a must-visit treasure in Jordan. It's not just a landmark; you have to experience it in person to see how beautiful it is! The white salt stone shores are repeatedly washed by the emerald green lake water, which is crystal clear. The amazing Dead Sea floating experience lets you float completely even in very shallow water, so even kids who can't swim can easily enjoy it. Under the blazing sun, the water temperature is warm, so no need to worry about being cold. We recommend the free beach in the middle section of the Dead Sea, with a date palm grove on one side and white salt mountains on the other. It’s less crowded and beautiful, perfect for enjoying the calm and fun of a wild beach float with kids. 🏛️Jerash Ancient City Highlights A remarkably well-preserved ancient city from the Roman Empire era, grand in scale and comparable to Ephesus in Turkey. This ancient city fully retains Roman-era buildings such as the theater and commercial center, known as a showcase of Roman columns, even larger than Petra. Inside the ancient city, there are two Roman theaters in the north and south, multiple temples, and a millennium-old street lined with Roman columns. In the evening, local residents gradually arrive, and the sunset light shines on the ancient stone columns, filling the atmosphere with history. It’s a meaningful immersive experience for kids to feel the Roman civilization. 🚗Travel Tips Public transportation in Amman city is inconvenient, so renting a car is recommended. Car rental at the airport is affordable. First visit the Dead Sea in the south, then Jerash Ancient City in the north. The route is smooth without detours, flexible for traveling with kids, and no need to rush the schedule. Accommodation 🏨Ritz-Carlton, Amman A top luxury hotel in downtown Amman, Jordan, with complete facilities and family rooms, conveniently located near the airport and major attractions. 🏨Amman A landmark high-end hotel in Amman with full design flair, featuring a children’s playground and very thoughtful family services, super convenient for travel. 🏨Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea A top luxury resort hotel by the Dead Sea, with a private Dead Sea beach and exclusive floating area, complete family facilities, and an immersive Dead Sea experience. 🏨Old Town Boutique Hotel A highly rated hotel near Jerash Ancient City, within walking distance to the ancient city entrance, spacious rooms, excellent value, perfect for visiting the ancient city and staying overnight. ---

Muscat's Muttrah Fort, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, is a military fortress and a prime vantage point overlooking the entire city, encapsulating Oman's history and coastal scenery. From the top, you can enjoy a full view of Muttrah Old Town, Sultan Qaboos Port, and the "S Bay" coastline. At dusk, it is the perfect spot to watch the Arabian Sea sunset, with the sun dyeing the sea amber. The fort preserves military relics such as stone walls, towers, and battlements, rich in historical atmosphere. Muttrah Fort is open daily from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with an entrance fee of 3 Omani Rials. There is free parking near S Bay, and it’s a 15-minute walk to the ticket office; alternatively, you can take a small path beside the market uphill, reaching the fort in about 10 minutes. It is recommended to visit from afternoon to evening. You can first explore the Muttrah Souq selling spices and handicrafts, then climb the fort for sightseeing. The top of the fort, battlements, and viewing platforms are excellent photo spots, capturing the old town, bay, and sunset in one frame. The night view is also very photogenic.

Traveling to Jordan is an unforgettable experience filled with history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. This beautiful country in the Middle East is known for its ancient cities, dramatic deserts, and warm hospitality. Among the many places to explore in Jordan, two of the most remarkable destinations are the stunning desert of Wadi Rum and the legendary archaeological city of Petra. One of the most fascinating natural attractions in Jordan is Wadi Rum, often called the “Valley of the Moon.” This extraordinary desert landscape is famous for its red sand, towering sandstone mountains, and wide open valleys that stretch as far as the eye can see. The scenery is so unique that it often looks like the surface of another planet. Many travelers explore Wadi Rum through jeep tours that travel across the red dunes and rocky valleys. Camel rides are also popular and offer a traditional way to experience the desert just as the Bedouin people have done for centuries. Spending a night in a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum is a magical experience where visitors can enjoy traditional food, listen to local stories, and admire the brilliant stars that shine in the clear desert sky. Another unforgettable highlight of traveling in Jordan is visiting Petra, one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. Petra was built more than two thousand years ago by the Nabataeans, who carved magnificent temples, tombs, and monuments directly into the pink sandstone cliffs. The journey into Petra begins with a walk through the Siq, a narrow canyon surrounded by tall rock walls. As visitors walk deeper into the canyon, the sense of anticipation grows until the breathtaking Treasury suddenly appears at the end of the path. This moment is one of the most iconic and unforgettable sights in travel. #travel2026 #travel #naturalwonders #staycation #familytravel #citydaytours #jordan #petra #amman

As visitors walk through this dramatic passage, the sense of excitement grows until the magnificent Treasury suddenly appears, carved beautifully into the rock. Traveling to the Middle East offers a unique opportunity to experience a blend of ancient history, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant cultures. Two destinations that stand out for travelers seeking both adventure and cultural discovery are Oman and Jordan. Although they are different in geography and traditions, both countries provide unforgettable travel experiences. Oman, located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, is known for its natural beauty and warm hospitality. The capital city, Muscat, is a perfect starting point for visitors. Unlike many modern Gulf cities, Muscat has preserved its traditional architecture, with white buildings, beautiful mosques, and scenic coastal views. One of the most impressive landmarks in the city is the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which is famous for its magnificent Islamic architecture, large prayer hall, and one of the world’s largest handmade carpets. Beyond the capital, Oman’s landscapes are incredibly diverse. Travelers can explore the golden dunes of the Wahiba Sands, where they can ride camels, camp under the stars, and experience traditional Bedouin life. Nature lovers often visit Wadi Shab, a stunning valley with turquoise pools and waterfalls hidden between rocky cliffs. Oman is also known for its historic forts, such as Nizwa Fort, which reflects the country’s rich past and its role in regional trade. #travel2026 #travel #couplestrip #naturalwonders #staycation #poolhotel #jordan #amman

Start by opening the app, accessing the AI Trip Planner, entering your desired locations, and in minutes you'll have a rough itinerary. You can then customize the locations as you like. For our 4-day trip, we focused on exploring the main city and highlighted key attractions like Edge of The World, Diriya, and the Red Sand Dunes. Direct flights from Thailand to Riyadh take approximately 7-8 hours. We recommend downloading the Drab app for easy access to the metro and buses within the city; public transportation is affordable and convenient. For example, we bought a pass for only 20 riyals, which is about 165 baht in Thai currency. This allowed unlimited rides on all stations for 3 days – it was amazing! Riyadh is easy to travel around, and the people are much friendlier than we expected. After the trip, we wanted to share our impressions and inspire other travelers. We posted content through the Trip app, selected Trip Moment, chose our location and photos, and the AI helped brainstorm content ideas and customize it to our liking – so convenient! After posting, we also earned coins that could be used for further discounts. Plus, we could sign up as a travel influencer on the app, with opportunities for free trips and collaborations with brands. It was great! The flight back to Thailand only took 6.5 hours.
