This stunning cathedral in Andria effortlessly blends dramatic Western-style architecture with sun-drenched Mediterranean vibes—think palm trees rustling in the breeze, crisp white arches, and the sea shimmering nearby. It’s a tranquil spot that dazzles both inside and out, making every moment insta-worthy!
🕊️ Recommended Route & Must-Do’s:
Start in Piazza Duomo with a panoramic shot of the cathedral’s towering façade framed by swaying palms. Step inside to explore grand marble columns, stained glass windows, and ornate altars—each corner is a feast for architecture lovers. Don’t miss the side chapels and the peaceful nave; take time to soak in the serene ambiance.
📸 Top Photo Spots:
Outdoors, capture the cathedral’s majestic exterior against a vibrant blue sky and tropical greenery. Indoors, aim for wide-angle shots of the vaulted ceilings, or get creative with close-ups on intricate artwork and sunlight streaming through stained glass. For a unique seaside vibe, position yourself so that the distant shoreline peeks through the church gates.

Take the train from Bari Bari to the town of Andria. After exiting the station, take the ASA 6 bus on the right side of the train station square, present a free shuttle bus ticket, and get off at Monte Castle Station. There are very few passengers, and we have not touched other passengers. When you get off the bus, you can confirm the return time with the driver.
Castel del Monte is located about 15 km south of Andria and was built around 1229-1249 by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II. In 1996, it entered the World Cultural Heritage. It is one of the landmark buildings in southern Italy, styled in the early Gothic style of southern Italy, with Roman and Arab-Norman style influences. At that time, the emperor used the castle as a place to rest while hunting. The
castle has two floors, each with eight arch-supported rooms, side by side with marble. The castle on the top of the mountain presents a mysterious but perfect octagonal shape. No one knows why it is built like this. Why build it in a place that is neither a strategic fortress nor a place to live. Monte Castle was used on a one-cent euro coin minted in Italy.
