Izumo Taisha Saitama Branch Shrine ⛩️ 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 The only Izumo Taisha in Saitama Prefecture. The shrine was built by receiving a branch of the spirit from Izumo Taisha in Shimane Prefecture. The main shrine building, which was rebuilt in 2020, is adorned with a magnificent large shimenawa rope measuring approximately 5m in length. The deity worshipped is, of course, Okuninushi no Mikoto. A copper deity called "Migawari Okuninushi" is enshrined in the precincts. Mizonuma Hikawa Shrine 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 A shrine located near the Kurome River in Mizonuma, Asaka City. It is said to have been founded during the Kanbun era (1661-1673). Around that time, when a villager was plowing a field, he discovered a stone with the words "Jirui Gongen" carved into it. The local lord, Nakayama Kanzaburo, founded a shrine to worship Jirui Gongen on the grounds that this place, which was called "Inariyama," had once been the site of a shrine. Takabatake Inari Shrine 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 This shrine is located in Negishidai, Asaka City, and is located near the Negishidai 4th Division intersection. The origins of the shrine lie in the fact that an ancestor of the Yanagisawa family found the remains of a white fox in the forest and set up a shrine as a memorial for the fox. Miyato Shrine in Asaka City, Saitama Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 Five deities are enshrined here, including Menashi, known as the god of handsome men, Izanagi, Izanami, Inakuratama, and Takara Tamatarehime. The founding date is unknown. It is said that the shrine was founded after the Genroku period (1688-1704), when the former Miyato village was divided into upper and lower villages, and was established as a separate shrine for Zao Gongensha in the main village! There is a torii gate ⛩ on a side street of Miyatobashi Street, and as soon as you pass through it, you will come to stone steps. The shrine grounds are located a little higher. Uchimaki Shrine in Asaka City, Saitama Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 This shrine has been called Juden Gongensha. The founding date is unknown. It was a branch shrine of Zao Gongensha, which was enshrined in Shimouchimaki Village after the Genroku period (1688-1704). In 1873, it was ranked as a village shrine and renamed Uchimaki Shrine. Going further down the long and narrow approach, there are stone steps, and the worship hall is located on a slight hill. To the right of the worship hall are the precincts of Benten Shrine and Inari Shrine. Tajima Shinmei Shrine in Asaka, Saitama Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 This shrine was enshrined as the guardian deity of the Tajima area, and the date of its founding is unknown. In the Meiji era, it was enshrined with Hikawa Shrine in Hamasaki, but the long-standing wishes of the residents were fulfilled. In 1956, Hikawa Shrine returned the deity enshrined at Shinmei Shrine, and it was rebuilt. It is located north-northeast of Asaka Station. This shrine's eye-catching vermilion roof in the Shinmei style is a must-see. This popular ramen shop is within a 10-minute walk from Asaka Station. In addition to regular ramen, they offer a variety of seasonal and limited-time ramen options. It was raining that day, but that was precisely why local residents walked there. It was Sunday lunchtime, and there was a four-group wait. For lunch that day, I chose mapo tofu ramen or mapo tofu rice bowl. Mapo tofu seems to be popular. I ordered the limited-time cold ramen, scallop, mullet roe, and persimmon ramen. The ramen was refreshing, with a broth made from persimmon seeds, peanuts, persimmon, soft-boiled scallops, and bacon. It was very delicious.
