This hotel is a very short walk away from Ashford International station. Also a few minutes walk from the designer outlet centre. A very clean hotel with a very good breakfast. The perfect place to stay when visiting Ashford for the weekend or for a short break.

I drove in from Seattle (2.5 hours without weekend traffic, closer to 4 with it) and arrived at the Paradise parking lot at 9:10 am on a late July Thursday—already 60% full. By 11 the lot was a circus and rangers were turning cars away. If you want the wildflower meadows at peak and a parking spot, be here before 8:30 am, full stop. The Skyline Loop is 8.5 km with about 600 m gain if you take the standard counterclockwise line: past Myrtle Falls, up through the meadow benches, around the shoulder of Mazama Ridge, to Panorama Point, then continue higher toward Glacier Vista before the switchbacks bring you back down the upper mountain face. I did the full thing in 3 hours 20 including 25 minutes at Panorama Point watching Emmons Glacier. Mid-July to early August the meadows are lava-flows of lupine, paintbrush, and avalanche lilies; by late August it browns out and September can bring early snow on the upper switchbacks. The trail is snowbound until mid-July most years—check the Mount Rainier NP road status page before leaving because Paradise Road closes for plowing well into June.
