Ashford is a lovely town in Kent. Very green and pretty. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a fantastic day enjoying superb wine and great company. Our guide, Brian, was not only very knowledgeable but also warm, friendly, and engaging—we really loved spending the day with him. From the flexible scheduling to the seamless coordination of pickup and drop-off, everything was organized smoothly and professionally. A standout moment was our visit to Gusbourne, where we experienced both delicious wines and a breathtaking setting. We highly recommend this company for a remarkable wine tour!

Ashford outlet centre. An array of lovely designer shops. A short walk from the station. Lots of food options as well.

Ashford designer outlet. A perfect day out for any shopoholic. Plenty of sales and discounts too.

Wine Garden of England, celebrating English, mostly Kentish wine, local produce, in the heart of Kent, Westenhanger Castle. Tried from Gusbourne to Biddenden, lots of different kind, still & sparkling, brut, my favourite was always still white. We also got to keep the branded wine glasses 🍷 #wine #england #festival #Foodie #winery #Kent #weekendgetaways

The staff at Frasers were fantastic. Karen at concierge was incredibly helpful and facilitated our early check-in smoothly. Hayden at the Lobby Lounge was very welcoming and shared great recommendations for their specialty drinks. During dinner at Lucce, a young waiter kindly brought me a scarf and warm water when the air conditioning felt chilly. We truly appreciated the hospitality and look forward to returning soon!

📅 Itinerary Day1: Day2: Day3: 🏨 Accommodation 🍴 Food Recommendations 📌 Tips

Stretching from the iconic White Cliffs of Dover to the Surrey border, the Kent Downs National Landscape is a dramatic 878-square-kilometer arc of ancient chalk ridge. Known as the "Garden of England," this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is defined by its steep "scarp" slopes, secluded dry valleys, and vast plateaus. It is a landscape of profound contrasts—from the windswept, wildflower-rich chalk grasslands that teem with rare orchids and butterflies to the deep, shaded dignity of ancient beech and yew woodlands. The Kent Downs has served as a gateway to England for millennia, and its history is etched into the earth. The ancient North Downs Way national trail follows the heights of the ridge, mirroring the historic Pilgrims' Way used by medieval travelers heading to Canterbury. The landscape is dotted with Neolithic long barrows, Roman remains, and majestic Norman churches. In the lower valleys, the terrain softens into a mosaic of traditional Kentish orchards and hop gardens, where the distinctive conical roofs of oast houses puncture the skyline. Whether you are standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking the English Channel or lost in the silence of a hidden valley, the Kent Downs offers a quintessentially British experience of grand scale and intimate beauty. Tips for your visit: · The North Downs Way: For the best views, hike a section of this trail. The stretch near Wye offers incredible panoramic vistas across the Great Stour Valley. · White Cliffs of Dover: While famous for the coast, the clifftop downs are a haven for rare flora. Visit in early summer to see a carpet of wild thyme and rare chalk-land flowers. · Wye Downs & The Devil’s Kneading Trough: Visit this dramatic natural coombe (a dry valley). It is one of the most spectacular geological features in the Downs and offers a perfect spot for sunset viewing. · Local Vineyards: The chalky soil of the Kent Downs is remarkably similar to that of the Champagne region in France. Stop at a local vineyard, such as Terlingham or Gusbourne, to taste some of the world’s finest English sparkling wines. The Kent Downs is a sophisticated and spiritually resonant landscape that perfectly captures the enduring, rugged beauty of the English coast and countryside. 🌳📉🍇 #KentDowns #NationalLandscape #WhiteCliffsOfDover #NorthDownsWay #HikingUK #GardenOfEngland #NaturePhotography #HiddenGems #TravelDiary2026

💡Why choose Ashford? While everyone online is obsessed with London/Oxford, I found a gentle place forgotten by time tucked in the folds of Kent🌿. Jump on the Eurostar from London St Pancras station, cross the Thames mist in 40 minutes, and this medieval town with its weathered cobblestone streets and walls covered in roses gave me a time-travel drama pretending to be in Ireland. 🗝️Castle exploration: a magical secret more enchanting than Hogwarts 📍Leeds Castle (£18 admission) A little-known fact that 99% of guides don’t mention: this island castle in the lake was once a royal palace of Henry VIII! Highlight📌 At 3 PM, the knight armor exhibition suddenly sounds war drums, the armors automatically swing swords at each other, and the NPC butler recites poetry in Latin (I didn’t understand but it was super immersive). 📍Ashford Castle (open only to guests) I unexpectedly discovered a 13th-century cellar bar in the castle’s backyard! In the candlelit cellar, servers dressed in velvet gowns bring private Kent blackberry-brewed liquor; one sip and you can hear the stone walls whispering. 🌿Natural healing: 48 hours swallowed by the forest ⚠️Hiking route: Moxon Woods → Wye National Reserve Rent a vintage bike (£10/day), pedal along the bluebell path into the misty forest🌳, and suddenly a 17th-century stone mill jumps out from the shadows, almost making me fall off (lol). Remember to wear waterproof boots in the Wye Reserve! An ecologist I met helped me wade through the firefly wetlands; no phone camera can capture the magical feeling of the Milky Way falling into the swamp. 🍖Kent on the palate 🔥The Dog House Micropub (about £15 per person) A hidden underground bar in a garage, the owner converted a truck hood into the bar counter! Must-try is the Kent roast soaked in dark beer (served with secret pickled cucumber sauce); you only understand the salvation of the English stomach when your fingers get sticky from gnawing. 🌮KOYLA Indian Restaurant (hidden menu: £5 butter chicken set) The Indian guy proudly said: my spices are flown in by helicopter from the Himalayas! And indeed, I tasted the pure freshness of snowmelt water, paired with traditional tandoori bread, instantly turning London’s Michelin three-star into dust. 📌Hidden activities revealed 1️⃣ Ashford Designer Outlet: Behind the Gucci store is an employee sale area where I scored a Burberry scarf for ¥200 (don’t ask how I know)! 2️⃣ Afternoon tea on the roof of St Peter’s Church (reservation required): Spend £28 to drink champagne under Gothic spires; when pigeons fly past the stained glass windows, my bestie screamed like she found treasure. 3️⃣ Late-night secret: The B&B host took me into an abandoned railway tunnel at dawn, flashlight revealing love graffiti from 1890 on the walls; suddenly I understood why Ashford is called the most romantic town in England. ⚠️Tips to avoid pitfalls ✅ Big temperature difference in March, bring a wool shawl! ✅ Don’t miss the Sunday farmers market for handmade lavender honey, better than Harrods’. ✅ Stay at The New Flying Horse, £70 to sleep in a Pride and Prejudice-style room, with breakfast served by a butler on a silver tray. 💫Honestly If I could only remember one scene, it would be: standing on the Wye bridge at dusk, watching a swan pick up breadcrumbs, the shimmering water halo where medieval and modern Ashford quietly kiss🌙.

📍Eastwell Manor, Champneys Hotel & Spa, Ashford, UK Located in the countryside town of Ashford, this luxurious hotel resembles a magnificent castle. The expansive grounds feature a pool, restaurant, and bar, with a stunning garden right in front. Guests can enjoy an extraordinary and unique experience here. The guest rooms are located about a 5-minute walk from the main building, separated by the garden. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of staying at this remarkable hotel: ◾️Advantages · Experience staying in a castle-like setting · Enjoy morning walks in the beautiful garden and countryside · Safe and secure environment · Delicious restaurant offerings · Quiet surroundings for a relaxing stay ◾️Disadvantages · No air conditioning in summer, making it hot · No elevator access to rooms on the second floor · Requires walking to the restaurant and reception Particularly in summer, the lack of air conditioning can be a concern. I had the most wonderful day at Chapneys Day Spa East Well Manor. Everything was phenomenal, and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking! The staff were friendly, food was yummy, the sun was shining.
