Italian restaurants are delicious no matter where you go! Here are some of the restaurants and shops I personally visited and loved. 📍Rome ① Tonnarello A famous and popular restaurant in Rome. I visited after 4 PM and didn’t have to wait in line! It seems to get crowded during lunch hours, so visiting at an off-peak time might be a good idea. ② POMPI Tiramisu Known for its tiramisu. The portion is generous but surprisingly light and easy to eat! Takeout is also available. ③ Mercato Hostaria Roma I casually walked into this pasta restaurant, and the staff were cheerful and kind! The food was absolutely delicious 🌸 📍Venice ① Hostaria Vite Rossa Located in Mestre, the station next to Santa Lucia. A popular spot frequented by locals. The seafood was incredibly delicious. ② Acqua e Mais A shop famous for its seafood fries. Takeout only! ③ Osteria N. 1 A restaurant on the main island of Venice. I only ordered dessert! The tiramisu and panna cotta were delightful. 📍Perugia Ristorante Al Tartufo A truffle specialty restaurant. The best restaurant I dined at in Italy. The truffle pasta was absolutely exquisite. 📍Florence ① Vivoli A café famous for its affogato. There’s usually a line, but it’s worth the wait! The balance between vanilla ice cream and espresso was perfect. ② All'Antico Vinaio A renowned panini shop. The prosciutto panini was delicious and highly recommended. There are many branches! 📍Milan ① Ristorante Stendhal Brera A stylish restaurant in the Brera district. I enjoyed Milanese-style cutlets and doria. The calm atmosphere was lovely. ② Casa Savini Tartufi A truffle specialty restaurant. With its luxurious interior, it’s perfect for dinner. ③ Pizzium - Via Vigevano The pizza was hearty and delicious, yet reasonably priced, making it a great value!

The pasta is called orecchiette, which means “little ears” in Italian. It’s the traditional pasta of the Puglia region. They prepare it fresh in front of you, let it dry naturally, and then sell the dried pasta directly from their tables. No packaging design, no marketing — just flour, water, skilled hands, and generations of tradition. What I loved most is that this isn’t staged for tourists. It’s part of everyday life. You can stop, watch, chat a little, and buy pasta that was literally made minutes before. It feels raw, local, and completely unpolished — exactly how southern Italy should be. I spent hours marveling at the architectural details - from the elegant marble columns to the elaborate ironwork. The gallery spans an impressive 15,000 square meters, housing everything from trendy cafes to luxury boutiques. I particularly loved sitting at Caffè Gambrinus (Via Chiaia 1-2), sipping espresso while watching local life unfold beneath the magnificent dome. 1. GIOLITTI A gelato shop I've always wanted to go to! I ordered a double and had fresh cream on top! I think I got something like pistachio and salted caramel? They also sold sweets inside the shop, which were also tempting! The staff were very kind. 2. Piazza di Spagna It was really crowded, but the high-end store windows were so cute and the cityscape was beautiful! 3. The Colosseum It was so impressive when I saw it for the first time! It's easy to get around inside, so it's fun even without any prior research! I wish I had learned more about the history. 4. Roman Forum This was really fun, but we needed more time. There's so much to see, so it's a good idea to plan your visit with plenty of time! There are restrooms inside too. 5. Borchese Museum First of all, the park surrounding the museum was beautiful. It's full of nature! The lighting changes between day and night, creating a completely different atmosphere! The inside is quite compact, but I personally really liked it because I could enjoy both the paintings and the sculptures. Beware of low-price traps: If you see ads saying "just over 10,000 RMB for more than ten days, staying in five-star hotels, and a small group," don’t hesitate—run away! It’s most likely a big scam. They might drop you off at the attraction entrance and not let you in without spending money, with many shopping stops waiting for you afterward. 2. Choose small groups whenever possible: Avoid large groups of 50 or 60 people! Too many people means wasting half an hour just getting on and off the bus. Groups of about 20 are perfect—more flexible and a much better experience. 3. Must-bring packing list: - A thermos cup that can be heated (for instant noodles; most hotels in Italy and Switzerland don’t provide free hot water, France is a bit better) - Sunscreen (UV rays in Europe are strong, apply generously!) - Umbrella - Sunglasses & hat (for sun protection and great photos) - Foldable down jacket - Waterproof jacket (best for rainy days, windproof and waterproof) - Disposable change of clothes (for a multi-city trip of over ten days, hotel laundry isn’t always available) 4. Bottled water is quite expensive in Italy and Switzerland, costing around 15-20 RMB per bottle. In Switzerland, you can buy cheaper water at Coop supermarkets. ✨ To sum up: Switzerland is incredibly beautiful—you won’t regret coming here! For a one-day trip, focusing on the main island is enough! If you want to visit the outer islands, it's recommended to stay an extra day (I only visited the main island). ▫️Stay in Venezia Mestre, take a 10-minute train directly to [Venezia Santa Lucia], which is on the main island. You'll be right at the attractions upon alighting. ▫️Luggage storage: Available at the train station, 6 euros/piece for the first 4 hours, 1 euro/hour for 5-12 hours, 0.5 euro/hour for 13 hours or more. 🗺️Main Island Walking Route｜No backtracking 1. Scalzi Bridge It's right to the left when you exit the train station! Everything you need for budget travel in Italy! 📍Itinerary: Munich - Venice (2 days) - Florence (1 day) - Pisa (1 day) - Rome (3 days) - Milan (1 day) - Munich 🚌Transportation (200+ Euros) Intercity Transportation: Relying entirely on Filxbus, my first night bus experience ✔️ I took two night buses, and it wasn't too bad. I was worried about my luggage being stolen before I left, so I brought a bicycle lock to lock it up, but it didn't work. Sometimes there's nowhere to secure the bus, and sometimes the driver won't let you lock it, but thankfully nothing was stolen during the entire trip. Thank you! ⚠️Buying tickets in advance is much cheaper; buying them on the spot will increase the price (don't follow my example 😢). Transportation within the city: Venice: Walking is sufficient on the main island. For exiting the island, a €25 day ticket is available (Glass Island + Rainbow Island are worth the price!). Florence: The city is small, mostly on foot. Attractions are very concentrated. If you need to take a bus, you can buy a single ticket on-site for €1.70 for 1.5 hours. Pisa: Choose a day trip from Florence. The train back to Pisa can be bought on the day of travel; there are many departures, so don't worry about tickets selling out. A single train costs €9. Rome: I recommend buying a five-trip ticket or something similar. Our two-day ticket for €15 was definitely not worth it. Except for the Vatican, the attractions are all close together and can be explored on foot, offering many other sights. Milan: We didn't explore for long, so we bought single tickets for €2.20 for 1.5 hours. If you plan to explore a lot and take many trains, consider a day ticket, which I think is €7. 🏠Accommodation (€160+) Venice: Recommended accommodation On the outer islands, prices are much cheaper than on the main island. We found a short-term rental homestay by chance, not far from the train station, run by an auntie from Northeast China. It was very clean, and overall quite nice. Free luggage storage was available. Florence: We stayed in a hostel with female dormitories, but it was the most expensive accommodation of all. I thought it was okay. We had to make our own beds, but the cleanliness was good, and the roommates were all quite quiet, each doing their own thing. Rome: We chose a short-term rental near a metro station. Although it was a bit far from the center of the attractions, transportation to the attractions was within 40 minutes. ✅Book accommodation in advance! 🎫 Tickets + 🍝Food + Souvenirs: (300+ Euros) 👉A perk for architecture students! Many museums in Italy offer free admission (search for other people's tips). We only bought tickets for St. Mark's Basilica and the museum + Vatican Museums (student tickets are available for both 🎓).
