Cappadocia is absolutely stunning 🎈 The night before, I was worried the weather wouldn’t be good enough to fly, but at dawn the next day, seeing the sky filled with hot air balloons slowly rising made me feel like my life was complete ✨ 📍Goreme Town This is the main base for hot air balloon experiences. It’s recommended to stay at least two nights to increase your chances of flying. We chose Butterfly Balloons company, and their 5 AM pick-up service was very punctual. Once airborne, you can see the entire surreal landscape of Cappadocia. The pilot thoughtfully rotates the basket to ensure everyone can capture the beautiful scenery. 📍Uchisar Castle After landing the hot air balloon, you can visit this high vantage point. Not only can you overlook all of Goreme, but you can also see the full view of Rose Valley. The castle itself is a cave fortress carved into the rock, perfect for taking Instagram-worthy photos. 📍Devrent Valley Also known as Camel Valley, the rock formations here are incredibly unique! At sunset, the light is very gentle, and the rock pillars turn pink. Many couples choose this spot for proposals. 💡Useful Tips: 1. Book the hot air balloon at least 3 days in advance! We almost missed out. 2. It’s very cold at dawn, so bring a thick jacket but don’t dress too bulky. 3. The first flight at sunrise is the most beautiful, but the second flight is about 1/3 cheaper. 4. There is a champagne celebration after landing, so remember to keep some cash for tips. 🏨 Accommodation Recommendation: The Museum Hotel is absolutely amazing! The cave pool faces the hot air balloon launch site. While having breakfast on the terrace, hundreds of hot air balloons floated right overhead—this experience is truly unforgettable. 🍴 Must-Try Food: You must try the pot-cooked beef! #AprilGoodDestinations2025 Before traveling to Türkiye, we were racking our brains over what hotel to stay in Cappadocia, and finally we chose DoubleTree by Hilton Avanos. The most famous thing about the Cappadocia area is the caves. Whether it is a museum, a restaurant or a hotel, they all have views of the caves. I prefer modern hotels, but the cave hotels do not give me a good sense of security. DoubleTree by Hilton Avanos is the fourth Hilton hotel we stayed in during our trip to Turkey. In addition to the comfortable and clean environment, it also has my favorite swimming pool. Although it is not as convenient as the previous hotels in the city center, the scenery next to the hotel is really refreshing. Also, the hotel is close to the hot air balloon flight site tomorrow, so you have to go to bed early at night because you have to get up at around 3 a.m. to prepare for the hot air balloon flight.

Avanos is a small town in central Turkey. It is definitely not a touristy place but is very close to the open sights of Cappadocia - the most beautiful place in the region. Anyway it is a nice option for a quick stopover but you will need a car. #happynewyear

Cappadocia Pottery: A Touch of 4,000 Years of Tenderness on the Banks of the Red River 🏺 Beyond the bustling hot air balloons of Göreme lies a small town called Avanos. Here, there are no whimsical fairy chimneys, but the Kyzylkü River flows quietly red—its waters, carrying the iron from the mountains, have flowed for millennia, staining the riverbanks with an ochre-red hue. Stepping into a riverside pottery workshop, the master craftsman sits before a traditional foot-operated potter's wheel, his foot lightly pressing the wheel, which turns gently. An unassuming lump of red clay obediently rises, closes, and unfolds in his palm, instantly taking the shape of a pot. At that moment, you feel a sense of awe—the same gestures were made by the Hittites for four thousand years, by the Seljuks for eight hundred years, and now by Ottoman artisans to this day. During my summer visit to Cappadocia, I experienced a pottery-making technique from 6,000 years ago. This time, I visited another museum, which houses a boutique displaying the owner's treasured collection. Unlike ordinary souvenirs on the market, these are incredibly exquisite, and of course, the price is also extremely attractive!

Who would have thought that skiing on the "moon surface" would be my closest experience to a fairy tale. When the hot air balloon season pauses, Cappadocia dons another kind of magic. Setting off from Göreme early in the morning, passing through snow-covered fairy chimneys, after an hour and a half, we arrive at Mount Erciyes at an altitude of 3,900 meters. This dormant volcano has now become a white paradise for ski enthusiasts. The cable car slowly ascends, beneath are endless ski slopes, and in the distance, the vast snowy Anatolian Plateau—who knew the meeting of fire and ice could be so magnificent. Compared to previous experiences in Hokkaido, Japan; Almaty, Kazakhstan; the French Three Valleys in the Alps; and the Ötztal Valley in Austria, I strongly recommend Erciyes to friends like me who are beginners but love to play.
