Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM)
Just a short drive from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, FRIM feels like a small forest oasis within the city 🍃. It’s a fantastic spot for a weekend outing, offering a chance to enjoy nature up close. From the entrance, you’re greeted by lush trees, and the fresh air instantly lifts your spirits 😌.
I took one of the trail courses, which wasn’t too steep, making it perfect for a light, leisurely walk 🚶♀️. Sunlight filtered through the trees, accompanied by the sound of birds, creating a truly healing atmosphere. There were also small information boards along the way, providing details about the tree species and the forest 🌱. The canopy walk, which used to be a highlight, is currently restricted due to maintenance, which was a bit disappointing. However, just walking through the forest was more than satisfying.
One of the best parts was how uncrowded and peaceful it was, allowing for a relaxed experience. It’s amazing to find such a vast forest so close to the city. FRIM is a great place for a light workout or simply to recharge and unwind 👍.

#summervacay #july2025 #thingstodo #gardenwalks
You don’t have to leave the city to explore unique plant life. Escape the city buzz and step into the tranquil world of Kepong Botanic Gardens, one of Kuala Lumpur’s greenest hidden treasures. Located within FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia), this expansive botanical garden is perfect for nature lovers and weekend explorers.
Two standout features here are the Pitcher Plant (Nepenthes) Garden and the Bamboo Garden. The former offers a rare chance to get up close with these fascinating carnivorous plants—uniquely shaped and thriving in their natural habitat. Meanwhile, the Bamboo Garden is a peaceful space with towering stalks and shaded paths, ideal for slow walks and photo ops.
The garden is well-maintained, serene, and rarely crowded. It’s a great spot for morning strolls, photography, or simply unwinding in nature. Whether you’re a plant enthusiast or just looking for a quiet break, Kepong Botanic Gardens delivers.

Sip, Breathe, Escape: Mimpi Hutan Café in the Garden of Eve
#summervacay #july2025 #greenary #foodie
Hidden within the lush canopy of Kepong Botanical Garden—just beyond the second FRIM entrance—Mimpi Hutan isn’t just a café, it’s an escape. Here, the city fades. In its place: birdsong, filtered sunlight, and the earthy calm of tropical forest air.
Wooden decks, glamping tents, and scattered seating blend effortlessly into the natural landscape. Coffee is served slow and strong, meant to be sipped, not rushed. Whether you’re here for a weekend recharge or a midweek pause, the atmosphere is gently therapeutic.
The best seats? Under the trees, of course—with a latte in hand and the scent of rain-soaked leaves around you.

Kepong Botanic Gardens | FRIM
#malaysiatrip
This is such a wonderful park with a huge lake, beautiful trees and many types of flowers/plants to enjoy along the many trails here. It would be great if FRIM could improve the care of the plants around the park. Entrance fee is RM1 payable at the main entrance. (Ewallet available) and RM5 for car park. If you are lucky you can get free parking outside near the housing area. Waze Frim 2nd Entrance Garden of Eden to get here. Come early if possible it not bring an unbrella or wear a cap as the sun can get hot later in the day.

Best places for picnic near KL area
#newyearadventure #yearofrabbit #awesomepic #vianasjourney
Taman Eko Rimba, Sungai Tua. It’s quite a drive from KL, but it won’t take long than 1hour 30minutes. There are few places/ spot (along the same river) you can actually stop for picnic but I like this one especially because the view are much more stunning, water are clearer as it is a bit on the further up side, they do have few small hut for you to put your stuff and most have a bbq spot on the side. Bear in mind that you have to pay for entrance fee for each person and ‘sewa tapak’ for the whole group. It didnt cost much but less than 10 ringgit per person and also for the ‘tapak’

Tanjung Sepat Selangor Coastal Village
This location is about 100km drive from Kuala Lumpur city center. It is small fishing town in Kuala Langat in the district of Selangor. You can find some nice restaurants which serves fresh seafood and there is a famous Pau shop which sells a variety of them and they are very tasty. Fruits are available at the stalls along the shops and the price is reasonable. A few coffee shops serves great noodle and good coffee too

One day trip
A very lively countryside. All the people in the countryside are riding motorcycles and driving close to the seaside. They can fish, enjoy the sea breeze, and eat Bak Kut Teh in the morning.

Batu Caves - Malaysia
The Batu Caves are one of the best places I have seen in Asia. When staying in KL it’s simple enough to jump on the train (early of course) and travel up to Batu for these caves. They are well worth the trip and the main cave is free to enter. Other caves can be entered and explored for a minor fee.

#tripaway to batu cave moment, one of my favorite places to go away from home. it's a Hindu temple in malaysia. I enjoyed so much the cave behind this statue because of it's natural formation. also there are different kinds of animals inside and out. and if you are hungry there are restaurants just in front of this statue. happytrip

Batu Caves, Malaysia
A tourist spot accessible by train from the city
It's a Hindu site, so there are many Indians
A place where you can feel the multiculturalism of Malaysia
There are many wild monkeys inside the building
One of the places I want to go again

Technically this one is a bit outside #kualalumpur proper, but it’s certainly well worth the trip. The rainbow stairs are great and fun to climb (if a bit tiring 🤪). Find yourself a quiet spot where you can enjoy the view. #triplocal

Lord Murugan Statue and Batu Cave just amazed me. Two highly recommended attraction to see in just one location is very satisfying. You really just want to stare at the statue and be completely in love with it. Also, though you have to exert some effort in climbing the stairs to get inside Batu Cave, the sculptures inside are breathtaking. Especially, when you see the hole at the top of the cave that also adds up the colors of the sculptures. However, you need to hide your snacks carefully or those monkeys will eat it for you. Nevertheless, Malaysia is Truly Asia.
