2025 Beitou District Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in January)

#chinatrip We spent half a day exploring Beitou district while travelling to Taipei and this is such a quiet and serene destination to visit! It is just a 30minutes train ride from Taipei Main Station via red line, which is an easily accessible and reachable destination. We then took another train ride to Xinbeitou station which is nearer to all of the touristy spots. Famous for its natural wonder of hot springs, the Beitou district is full of hot springs resorts, public baths and even museum dedicated for hot springs culture, such a unique place to visit. Would recommend to spend a night at their hot spring resort, especially during winter. Some of the popular destination that we visit include the Beitou Park, Beitou hot spring museum, Thermal Valley and the beautiful Beitou library. The district is filled with lush greeneries and is really calm and slow paced! Lovely place to visit!

Aloft Taipei Beitou was originally part of the Starwood Hotels group. After the Marriott Group merged with Starwood in 2018, it was all included in the Marriott group, and Marriott naturally became the largest hotel group on the planet! This place reminds me of the onsen town at Noboribetsu ( Hokkaido), this place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It’s a very big natural hot spring Valley that you can walk around, it’s wheelchair and elderly-friendly, beast place to bring your family here! I'm sure the kids will love this too. This place is so steamy, I can barely see my friends when we first walked in to this place, feels like we are back in Japan again! Never imagined Taiwan can have such nice and beautiful place. There is a small walking trial here as well, a few observation decks, and even seats for you to chill if you just want to sit down and enjoy the beautiful views. We spent about 30 minutes here, I love this place so much that I could just sit there and enjoy the view. There is also a small gift shop at the exit if you would like to purchase some small gifts. There is a small store outside the Thermal Valley that sells amazing onsen eggs, I had Chinese wine and chili onsen eggs, both are delicious. But I prefer the chili onsen egg more, I would highly recommend getting the egg to end this trip.

Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival. I took a walk alone in New Beitou Park. For dinner, I went to the nearby (Shuang Yue) and had my favorite (Clam Chicken Soup) and Spicy Dry Noodles. Then I bought a bottle of Grass Jelly Drink and offered it to a couple next to me. A kind boy heard me coughing and immediately brought me a tissue. Such a considerate and lovely boy! Delicious food and new friends made for a truly happy and joyful dinner.

As you can see from the photos, the restaurant is packed and we went on a weekday night. What is guaranteed to give you a good time are these 2 items: - Sesame Paste Noodles - Chicken Soup Both of these are a no brainer. Just order them. Give them a taste and youll understand why everyone, even on Google Reviews say that this is the best sesame noodles and chicken soup they’ve ever had in their lives. The other 2 dishes are the pig skin and lu rou fan. But tbh they’re not really that amazing. Lacking a little bit of flavour and missing the kind of texture you’d expect from lu rou and pig skin. I’d be curious to know what a Michelin Hawker restaurant would be like in Hong Kong. That will be one of the my bucket list items to do when I get the chance to head over!

Children's Izakaya is probably one of the most popular Izakayas near Beitou If you don’t have a reservation during meal times on weekday evenings, it’s easy to get no seats. There are not many tables in the restaurant, which can only accommodate about 20 people. There are indoor and outdoor seats. The decorations and decorations are very atmospheric. It looks like a real izakaya on the streets of Japan. In addition, Beitou District itself has many Japanese-style buildings. Therefore, drinking and chatting at the outdoor seats also has a unique flavor.
