Until the moment I truly set foot in the town, the fog cleared, the sky just happened to brighten☁️🌤️, and the light fell on the lake and rooftops as if everything had been arranged long ago just for this moment. 🏔️ A place favored by the gods The lake lies quietly between the mountains, with snow-capped peaks and wooden houses reflected in its waters. Every angle looks like a carefully composed postcard🖼️. No need to deliberately find the perfect shot; just press the shutter, and the scene is already romantic enough to make you want to look back again and again. 🚶‍♀️ In the winter town, even time slows down Hallstatt is small, and the streets are not crowded. Even encountering many travelers in winter, everyone unconsciously slows their pace, speaks softly, and walks slowly, as if no one wants to break this rare tranquility🤍. Here, time no longer rushes but flows quietly. 🏠 The gentle power of vintage architecture The buildings in the town retain traces of old times, with wooden walls, sloped roofs, and window frames full of details. With its grand Gothic-style interior, you’ll find yourself thinking, "Ah, this is the true Austrian vibe!" The atmosphere is simply stunning. A Place Frequented by Historical Figures Café Central isn’t just a tourist attraction; it’s also famous for being a favorite spot of historical figures like Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud, and Leon Trotsky. Waiting in Line vs. Online Reservations Given its popularity, the wait time can be quite long. I personally waited over 40 minutes… 😭 Standing outside the café, I was silently pleading, "Please, people ahead of me, leave quickly!" But everyone seemed to want to linger and enjoy the ambiance. Thankfully, you can make online reservations via Google Maps, so if you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend booking in advance! Austrian Breakfast (€14.50) Croissant + Bread + Butter + Raspberry Jam + Tea I ordered the Austrian breakfast, and to my surprise, the raspberry jam was absolutely delicious. When I spread it on the bread, I thought, "Wow, this is sexy food!" The croissant was crispy yet soft, making it a perfect light breakfast. Since I don’t drink coffee, I paired it with orange juice, which turned out to be a great combination. Cake (€6.90) Since I was already there, I decided to try a cake as well. Honestly, it was a bit underwhelming—too sweet for my taste. (Apparently, Café Central is more famous for its coffee and ambiance rather than its desserts.) You usually travel to Vienna a lot〰️ You can go there on a day trip from Vienna☺️ Since it's far, I recommend taking a tour like me if you don't have time, and if you have time, I recommend staying in Halls for one nightㅠ It was such a crazy town that I wanted to stay there for a whole day because it was so pretty. If you don't go, you'll regret it a million times over❗️ 📍Salzburg Salzburg, Mozart's hometown, has the Mirabell Garden and beautiful signs from the movie Sound of Music, and it's fun to look at the pretty signs of the stores just by walking along the luxury street. We booked a three-bedroom loft apartment, and it was exactly as shown in the pictures—everything was clean and tidy. From the bedroom windows, you can see mountains and lakes on three sides, and from the living room balcony, you can see the village of Hallstatt. The rooms are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and cooking. The owners provide essentials like tea, coffee, salt, sugar, and basic cooking oil. The apartment also has many games, puzzles, and books that my children loved. They also have a sun deck by the lake, which is a great spot for a quick picnic. The apartment is very close to all the places you want to visit in Hallstatt, yet it is very quiet and away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Hallstatt Lahn (bus/boat station) is a 4-minute walk from the apartment, and we had no trouble dragging our suitcases from there to the apartment. There is a children's park 50 meters from the apartment, which the kids loved. Supermarkets and restaurants are also nearby. The owners are very nice. They live on the first floor. They helped us move our luggage to the second floor (where we stayed) and let us use the washing machine (+ dryer) where we washed all our clothes. They even brought some bread so the kids could feed the swans on the sun deck. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Hallstatt.
