Binhai is Tianjin’s sci-fi district — metro 9 to TEDA, then bus 513 to the coast (¥2). The seaside park boardwalk is 2km of weathered timber over a muddy Bohai shore: wind turbines in the haze, container cranes behind you, a “tidal flat” that smells like iron and salt. Not pretty like Rizhao — more “China’s industrial edge meets the sea.” I walked it at 5pm — the sun bleeding orange behind a power plant, a fisherman digging razor clams with a homemade rake, three guys flying a kite shaped like a cargo ship. There’s a “wedding photography” strip with white columns and fake Greek arches — hilarious, then oddly charming at golden hour. Stay in Binhai: ¥160–260/night (Yujiapu side cheaper). Food: “Binhai seafood potstickers” ¥18/8 pcs, “Tianjin jianbing” ¥7 at the TEDA metro exit. Mistake: expecting a swimming beach — the mudflat will eat your ankles. Go for the industrial-sea mood, not a tan. Would you walk a boardwalk where the sea is brown, the cranes are loud, and the light makes rust look like gold? #travelersvoice #chinatravelcircle

I didn't arrive in Nansha until noon. I originally planned to navigate to the Guanting parking lot to get to Tianhou Palace, but the road to Tianhou Palace was restricted and cars weren't allowed in. I had to follow the traffic to the parking lot in photo 1, which cost CNY 10 per hour. After leaving the parking lot, I realized it was over 1 km to walk to Tianhou Palace. Considering I had elderly family members and children with me, I saw a three-wheeled taxi on the side of the road and thought I'd support them. I told the driver we wanted to go to Tianhou Palace. The uncle was very enthusiastic; he drove us through a tunnel and dropped us off at the entrance near Binhai Park. When getting off, I asked if that entrance was the ticket office for Tianhou Palace, and he said yes, just go in. He also said that since we had a large group, we could take the sightseeing car to tour Tianhou Palace. Before leaving, I even thanked him for helping with our things. It turned out that after walking in for over 100 meters, I didn't see any ticket office. I opened the navigation app and saw it was still over 1 km away from the ticket office—even further than if we had walked from the parking lot exit! We originally had no plans to visit Binhai Park; the uncle forced an itinerary on us. Walking to the Tianhou Palace ticket office was just hot. After walking for almost half an hour, we finally arrived at the entrance of Tianhou Palace. Thinking of eating something before going in, we found a place selling hand-grabbed pancakes, which the two kids loved. Further ahead, there was Shunde cuisine. Knowing the elderly aren't used to northern-style pancakes, we bought lunch at the Shunde food stall. The owner was humorous and generous, saying the ingredients were guaranteed fresh, and if we needed more toppings, we could just come back for more—he'd make sure we had enough. Seeing me smile, he even teased me, saying I brought a whole group of people to play (the two kids were sitting in a camping wagon). After eating, everyone did their own thing. The two elders went for a walk in Tianhou Palace, and we took the kids to play on the beach. The kids didn't care if the sand was fine or if the water was blue; they were just happy to have something to play with. When the kids are happy, the adults are happy too. Every time we go out, I feel like I didn't bring enough stuff. Like this time, we had a camping wagon but didn't bring a camping mat. Still, the wagon was definitely enough for us to haul everything. Around 4:00 PM, we rushed to the 19th Yong to buy seafood for cooking. I was in the passenger seat planning our next move, but after getting off the bridge, we only reached the 14th Yong when a large truck ahead had an issue, blocking the road so we couldn't go further, as shown in photo 5. It was fate that we had to find food at the 14th Yong. We hadn't planned for this at all. After getting out of the parking lot, an auntie followed us, telling us to go to her restaurant for processing. Later, I realized she had been following us the whole way. I felt quite uncomfortable and asked her to stop following us. My family suggested finding a place for the elderly to sit and rest first, while the younger ones went to buy seafood. Wandering around, I saw the Zhanxing Restaurant at the market entrance, which looked familiar. I specifically checked my photo location history and realized we had eaten here 3 years ago, so we decisively chose this place. The owner was quite nice. I told the kids' dad he had to buy small shrimp for our second child to eat. They were indeed fresh and sweet; no soy sauce needed, just eat them directly. My speed at peeling shrimp couldn't keep up with his speed at devouring them. During the meal, a passerby asked the owner if they had stir-fried rice noodles. The owner told him they did, but it was a bit expensive, and suggested, "You should go eat over there under the bridge," and even gave him directions. I developed a good impression of this restaurant. If we come to the 14th Yong next time, we can visit this restaurant again. The fatty crab we bought wasn't swapped, and none of the other seafood was missing. The taste was also spot on. The kids' dad said he roughly calculated that the cost of the seafood plus the cooking fee was about the same as buying and cooking it at a regular market, and the food here was more delicious. We all ate this meal very happily.

The Chiikawa store at Coastal City is huuuuge!!!! It's so cute. I love the baby series the most!!! The store has such a complete selection, there's just too much to choose from! There's no crowd control now! No need to queue, haha. But the Usagi fridge magnets are out of stock, might need to wait for a restock~

Yancheng is beautiful, but I don't recommend it—going in October is "suffering." Because the aftereffects are too strong; after coming back, everything else just feels wrong 😭 Let's be honest: Yancheng in October is indeed a bit "tough." The seepweed on the Yellow Sea mudflats is as red as fire, covering the entire wetland like an endless crimson carpet—you won't be able to look away. The nearly 30,000 mu of dawn redwood forest in the Yellow Sea Forest Park is turning from green to golden, then burning into ochre red; walking along the redwood corridor feels like falling into a fairytale tunnel. Thousands of acres of lilies are in full bloom at the Dutch Flower Park, and during the National Day holiday, a symphony orchestra performs right in the flower fields. What's even "tougher" is that for the 2026 autumn season, Yancheng has launched the "Eight shades of Yancheng red" theme: Iron Army Red, Wetland Red, Redwood Red, Flower Sea Red, Short Drama Red, Crab Season Red... there are so many activities you won't be able to keep up. This so-called "suffering" is actually just having too much autumn scenery to see, too many fat crabs to eat, and too many activities to fit into your schedule. A 3-day, 2-night trip costs about 500–800 yuan per person, letting you pack the most intense autumn of the Yellow Sea coast into your suitcase 🍂 🚄 How to get there? 🚅 High-speed rail: Take a high-speed train to Yancheng Station from anywhere in the country. It takes about 1.5 hours from Shanghai and about 2 hours from Nanjing. 🚙 Local transport: Yancheng's attractions are scattered, so renting a car or driving yourself is highly recommended. It's about 1.5 hours from the city center to the Yellow Sea Forest Park and about 2 hours to Tiaozini. 💡 In 2026, 3 tourist shuttle routes have been launched, connecting city hubs with key attractions like the Red-crowned Crane Nature Reserve and the Chinese Milu Deer Park. If you aren't driving, you can take these shuttles, but the schedule is limited. 🗺️ 3-day, 2-night itinerary 📆 Day 1: Wetland red beach route Morning: Tiaozini Wetland (Free entry before 7:30 AM; otherwise, tickets are 24 yuan/person. Be sure to book in advance via the scenic area's official WeChat account. See the endless red mudflats covered in seepweed, where hundreds of thousands of migratory birds stop to rest) → Noon: Have a bowl of fish soup noodles in Dongtai → Afternoon: Yellow Sea Forest Park (Adults 50 yuan, approx. 43 yuan if booked online in advance; students/ages 60–69 are 25 yuan; free for those under 1.4m/ages 70+). The 13km green tunnel of the redwood corridor, and the 41m glass tower "Eye of the Forest" for an aerial view of the red forest) → Evening: Stay near the forest park or in Dongtai city 📆 Day 2: Flower sea & crane route Morning: Dutch Flower Park (Thousands of acres of lilies in full bloom. From October 1 to 3, the Jiangsu Brahma Symphony Orchestra will perform in the flower fields; from October 4 to 5, the provincial community education excellent art exhibition will be held in the park. The Lily Culture and Tourism Season continues until October 31) → Afternoon: Red-crowned Crane Wetland Ecological Tourism Area (Tickets 40 yuan, sightseeing bus 15 yuan one way. There are flight displays at 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM, where dozens of cranes fly overhead. During peak season weekends, you must book 2 days in advance via the official WeChat account; limited to 500 people per day) → Evening: Return 📆 Day 3: Ancient town & crab season route Morning: Zhuxi Ancient Town or Xixi Celestial Fairyland Scenic Area (From September 25 to October 7, the "Song Dynasty moon & Xixi reunion" Mid-Autumn & National Day series of themed activities will be held, featuring immersive challenges and Song-style markets) → Noon: Find a local restaurant to eat Dazong Lake hairy crabs (approx. 20+ yuan/crab for about 3.5 taels, approx. 40 yuan for 4 taels to half a jin; production and quality are better than previous years) → Afternoon: Buy souvenirs like Wuyou drunken snails, Funing cake, and Yancheng egg pancakes → Return 🍜 Must-try food: 🦀 Dazong Lake hairy crabs—Yancheng's autumn star, full of roe and fat. Steamed and dipped in ginger vinegar is the freshest way to eat them. Prices are lower than last year, with a mainstream range of 15–45 yuan/crab, offering plenty of choices. 🐟 Dongtai fish soup noodles—The broth is as white as milk, fresh without being fishy. A bowl will warm you up from head to toe. 🥘 Yancheng eight bowls—Braised pork belly, red-braised sticky rice balls, fried egg cake, radish with dried seafood—authentic Yancheng flavor. 🐚 Wuyou drunken snails—A century-old intangible cultural heritage; the snail meat is soaked in wine, fresh, sweet, and chewy. 🌮 Yancheng egg pancakes—A street food locals grow up eating; savory, fragrant, and fluffy. 🍡 Jianhu lotus root starch balls—Soft, sticky, and sweet; an intangible cultural heritage snack. 🍵 Binhai white atractylodes—A Yancheng specialty that can be used in dishes or brewed as tea; perfect for autumn nourishment. 🏨 Where to stay? ⛺️ Near Yellow Sea Forest Park: Wooden cabins or forest-style hotels; open the window to see the forest, approx. 300–500 yuan/night. Book 3 days in advance during peak season. 🏘️ Dongtai city: Budget hotels 150–250 yuan/night, convenient for eating fish soup noodles. 🏤 Yancheng city: Chain hotels 200–350 yuan/night, suitable as a base to visit various attractions. 💡 Travel tips: 🌡️ Weather & clothing: Yancheng is 15–25°C in October; cool in the morning/evening, warm during the day. A light jacket + long pants are most practical. It's windy in the coastal wetlands, so a windbreaker is a must. 🎫 Booking & discounts: Book Tiaozini in advance via the scenic area's official WeChat account; for the Red-crowned Crane area, book 2 days in advance for peak season weekends, limited to 500 people per day. Yandu District has launched a "ticket stub economy" program—show your attraction ticket at over 100 affiliated merchants to enjoy exclusive discounts, and government consumption vouchers can be used on top of that. 🦀 Crab buying tips: Don't buy crabs at the entrance of scenic areas; it's more reliable to buy them at local wet markets or directly from crab farms. Ask for the price before weighing, and be clear about the weight of the binding rope. Hairy crabs are "cold" in nature, so avoid eating them with tea or persimmons. 🚫 Pitfall avoidance: Renting an electric scooter at Yellow Sea Forest Park is not cost-effective (80 yuan for half an hour); taking the sightseeing bus for 20 yuan with unlimited rides is a better deal. Staff clear the area promptly at 7:30 AM after sunrise at Tiaozini; if you want to see the sunrise for free, be sure to wake up early. Drones are prohibited in the reserve, and disturbing wildlife is forbidden. 🎯 Key takeaways: The right way to experience Yancheng in October—see the red mudflats for free before 7:30 AM at Tiaozini, walk the redwood tunnel at Yellow Sea Forest Park for 43 yuan, listen to the symphony in the flower fields at the Dutch Flower Park during the National Day holiday, watch the 10:30 AM flight display at the Red-crowned Crane area, eat your fill of Dazong Lake crabs, and save money with the ticket stub economy and consumption vouchers. A 3-day, 2-night trip costs 500–800 yuan per person, letting you pack the most intense autumn of the Yellow Sea coast into your suitcase. While the seepweed is red, the lilies are fragrant, and the crabs are fat, it's time to go 🍂

A cool early autumn breeze brushes your face, and the reeds on the vast mudflats slowly turn yellow. The sky is clear and transparent, and the evening breeze is gentle, not hot. The old town is retro and quiet, the water street lights are soft, and a relaxed, slow-paced life is everywhere. No need to rush, no need to check off lists, just slowly enjoy the autumn leisure. 🚄 Travel guide High-speed rail goes directly to Yancheng Station, and city attractions are very concentrated. You can explore the old town entirely by bus + shared bike, saving money and worry. For suburban wetlands and the Elk Reserve, you can carpool to avoid high taxi fares. 🏨 Accommodation recommendations Choose Yanzhen Water Street or the city center. Affordable chain hotels and cozy homestays are only 110–180 RMB/night. Close to night markets and scenic spots, making it a one-stop shop for travel, eating, and sightseeing. 📍 Must-visit | Unlock stunning autumn scenery for free ▪️ Yanzhen Water Street (Free) A niche Jiangnan water town in northern Jiangsu! Downtown ancient streets and exhibition halls are almost all free; just bring your ID card to visit. 3. For food, prioritize old street-side shops and local night markets; avoid overpriced "influencer" spots. 4. Suburban wetlands are far from the city center; it's recommended to leave early to avoid the afternoon wind. No need to travel far. In the autumn breeze and wetlands of Yancheng, steal two days of gentle leisure🍂

Don't know where to go for a weekend in Binhai? ✨ 📍Yidajie, Development Zone | Binhai Yunque Spending a slow half-day here is truly healing 🌿 I stumbled upon this hidden gem and was immediately captivated by the well-arranged waterscape gardens. Large floor-to-ceiling windows paired with an atrium allow natural light to spill in, creating layers of light and shadow. You don't need to hunt for the perfect angle; just snap a photo with your phone, and the original image comes with a sophisticated vibe. The "A Glance at Tianjin's Splendor" art exhibition is currently being held here 🎨 Featuring works by artists Li Wang, Chen Chen, and Guo Jiajie, it blends traditional ink wash with contemporary art. Strolling through the exhibition quietly brings a sense of inner peace. After viewing the exhibition, you can explore the model units. They are bright and airy, filled with sunlight, and the soft furnishings are exquisite in every detail, giving you a tangible sense of what an ideal home looks like. The clubhouse is fully equipped with a gym, yoga room, and casual beverage area. Escape the city crowds, take your time, view the art, wander the gardens, and immerse yourself in the aesthetics of living. A great place to relax and unwind in Binhai. September Yancheng 2-Day Off-the-Beaten-Path Itinerary | Savoring the Yellow Sea Fishing Season and Discovering Hidden Charm in Mudflats and Ancient Towns Yancheng in September has just ended its four-and-a-half-month summer fishing moratorium. In mid-September, the Yellow Sea fully opens for fishing, with thousands of boats returning to Huangsha Port, bringing plump crabs and fresh shrimp. Avoid the crowded Tiaozini core area and Xixi Ancient Town. This local favorite route connects the national central fishing port, the Red Sea mudflats, and a thousand-year-old salt transport town. Less crowded, more scenic, and with accommodations and activities costing just over 500 RMB per person, you can fully experience the salty freshness of the Yellow Sea and the vibrant atmosphere of the ancient towns. Day 1: Sheyang Route: Fishing Port Opening + Red Mudflats and Grasslands In the morning, navigate directly to "Sheyang Huangsha Port Fishing Port Wharf" and park near the fish stalls along the main street. Arriving around 9 AM is perfect; fishing boats operating near the shore are returning to port to unload their catch. The wharf is piled high with water-drenched swimming crabs, lively shrimp, and shimmering small yellow croakers; even the air is filled with the salty freshness of the sea. Don't rush to find a restaurant. First, take a stroll along the Yunmian River boardwalk. The old docks, old fishing nets, and decommissioned wooden fishing boats have been converted into exhibits. There are almost no tourists, and every snapshot captures the authentic, rustic charm of a fishing village. For lunch, walk further into the fish stall street and choose a local eatery frequented by locals, avoiding the trendy restaurants with their fancy exteriors. A must-try is the steamed swimming crab; the crabs, caught in September, are full of roe and fat, costing just over 60 yuan per jin (approximately 500 grams). The crab meat is so tender it bursts with flavor. Also, order some handmade yellow croaker balls, bouncy and bursting with broth when you bite into them. Stir-fry some local mud snails, fresh with a hint of spiciness, perfect with rice. You'll eat until you're stuffed for about 80 yuan per person. In the afternoon, navigate to "Yellow Sea Highway No. 1, Sheyang South Section" and drive slowly along the coastline, avoiding the official viewpoints crowded with tourists. Drive south for three or four kilometers, and you'll see vast stretches of Suaeda salsa mudflats along the roadside, slowly turning red in September, like a soft red carpet spread across the sea. Find a safe shoulder to park, walk to the mudflats, and you can see small sand crabs crawling sideways. In the distance, wind turbines slowly turn, and the air is filled with the scent of the sea. In the evening, circle around to the unnamed embankment on the west side of Moon Bay to wait for a sunset over the Yellow Sea. As the sun sinks below the horizon, it dyes the mudflats and seawater a warm orange hue. The silhouettes of returning fishing boats slowly glide across the water, offering a wilder, more natural feel than a typical tourist sunset. Day 2 Dongtai Route: Ancient Town Morning Tea + Salt Transport Old Street Start the morning with a trip to "Fu'an Town Old Street." Arriving at 7:30 am, you'll be just in time for the bustling morning market. The fish soup noodle shop at the entrance of the old street is highly recommended. The broth, slowly simmered with crucian carp and eel bones, is milky white and thick. Add handmade alkaline noodles, sprinkle with white pepper, and a bowl for nine yuan—it's so delicious you'll drink the broth to the last drop. Also, order a basket of freshly steamed crab roe buns—thin-skinned, generously filled, and bursting with broth when you bite into them. Enjoy them with ginger slices to cut through the richness. After lunch, stroll along the old street. The cobblestone path is lined with old houses; blacksmith shops, grain and oil stores, and shoe repair stalls are still there, reflecting the daily lives of locals, untouched by commercialization. A 20-minute drive at noon will take you to Anfeng Ancient Town. No need for a pass; just explore the free main street. Avoid the shops on the main street; turn into the side alleys. The Bao Family Mansion and Wu Family Ancestral Hall are hidden among the blue bricks and gray tiles. The ivy climbing the walls in the corners of the courtyards is turning red with early autumn, and the quiet is so peaceful you can hear the leaves falling. Have lunch at an old teahouse in the ancient town. Order Dongtai stir-fry and Pingqiao tofu—both are home-style Huaiyang flavors, a satisfying meal for around 50 yuan per person. In the afternoon, navigate to "Tiaozini North Reclamation Area Seawall." Avoid the crowded core scenic area; this area has more open mudflats and fewer tourists. Walk along the seawall path; egrets forage on the mudflats, and reeds sway in the wind. The sea breeze in September is neither stuffy nor dry. Find a rock to sit on, watch the tide slowly rise, and your whole being will slow down. Practical Tips 1. Seafood prices fluctuate during the fishing season. Look for restaurants with clearly marked prices; buying by weight is more cost-effective than buying by portion. Be cautious of shops near scenic area entrances. 2. The mudflats offer no shade, and the UV rays are still strong in September, so don't skimp on sunscreen. The mudflats are muddy, so wear non-slip shoes and avoid venturing too far out. 3. Only the exhibition halls in Anfeng Ancient Town require an entrance fee; exploring the old street is completely free, so there's no need to buy a combined ticket. The true flavor of Yancheng isn't found in the popular tourist spots. It's the sound of fishing boats returning to port, the reddish Suaeda salsa on the mudflats, and the freshness of a bowl of fish soup noodles. Exploring these less-known corners is how you truly experience the essence of this small city on the Yellow Sea. A Hunan restaurant with plenty of "wok hei" (breath of the wok) The interior is simple and clean, with compact seating It gets quite busy during meal times, so it can be a bit noisy, but the service is reasonably fast 💚💚💚 Stir-fried pork with chili A true rice companion, the pork slices have the perfect ratio of fat to lean The green chilies are stir-fried until fragrant, and the high-heat cooking gives it plenty of "wok hei" Oily, savory, and fragrant. You can choose the spice level, and the sauce is so good you can easily finish two bowls of rice with it 🤎🤎🤎 Stir-fried pork liver Prepared without any gamey smell, the heat control is excellent 🐷 It's smooth and tender, not tough at all. The savory sauce coated with spice makes it very satisfying No gamey or off-putting taste. If you love offal, you must order this 💛💛💛 Stir-fried bamboo shoots Crispy, fresh, and tender, the natural flavor of the bamboo shoots is fully brought out With a hint of fresh spice, it's refreshing and cuts through the grease Among a bunch of heavy-flavored stir-fries, this dish is exceptionally pleasant to eat

Binhai, a charming coastal town, is home to several hidden natural oases, the most delightful of which is Nanhu Park. Known as the "Green Lung of Binhai, Yancheng," this expansive, free-to-enter park invites you to slow down amidst shimmering waters and lush tree canopies. This isn't just your average park photo op; it’s a premier destination for family outings, social gatherings, and the ultimate urban "slow life" picnic. With nearby high-value hotels and top-notch facilities, Binhai is perfectly suited for a restorative weekend getaway! 🌳 Binhai · Nanhu Park: [Poetic Living Tucked Away in the City] The moment you step into Nanhu Park, you're enveloped in vibrant greenery. Spanning over 800 acres, the lake reflects shifting clouds and elegant stone bridges, whether under grey skies or bright sun. Colorful permeable pathways wind through the landscape, offering a new view at every turn. It’s particularly great for families; the park features a dedicated children's playground where kids can play freely, while adults enjoy a jog along the lake, perfectly balancing fitness and relaxation. In the evening, catch the breeze at a lakeside pavilion and feel the stress melt away. On fair-weather weekends, locals flock here with tents and picnic mats, while others fly kites or walk their dogs, filling the park with a warm, lively atmosphere. Don't miss the light show on Friday and Saturday nights—the reflections on the water create a dreamy backdrop, making it Binhai's top spot for social media-worthy photos. 🏨 Essential Hotel Guide (Scenic Spots + Premier Stays for a Seamless Trip): 1.
