#tripaway We visited Okayama Bizen museum and pottery making where we could make our own pottery. It was my first time making pottery. Ifelt so excited and thrilled at the same time. In the pottery class, we can choose any pottery design we want to make. Touching the real wet clay for the first time gave me the vibe as a potter, should I change my career? Unfortunately, we have to wait for 2 months for the pottery to completely dry. #tripaway

A little escape to Kojima, Hinase, Okayama — one of Japan’s hidden gems. 🌿🌊 A place so peaceful, untouched, and beautifully quiet, with views that feel like they belong to another world. The kind of scenery you don’t see everywhere in Japan. Sometimes the best destinations are the ones you almost never hear about. ✨ Kojima Hinase… definitely a place worth discovering. 🤍 #japantravel #familytravel #travel #hiddengems #travel2026

Your private 360-degree oceanfront getaway @setouchi.reborn Villa Reborn is a membership-only retreat with an attached cafe, tucked away on a remote island in Hinase, Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture. Offering exclusive private stays for just one group per day. We are currently recruiting the final round of members! ❣️ The location is truly incredible—it’s hard to believe they secured such a spot. Even though we were in Okayama, we could see all the way to Mt. Rokko and Awaji Island on this clear day. The villa includes a kitchen so you can bring your own food. BBQ equipment is also available for rent. We spent our evening enjoying red wine and snacks we brought along, and started our morning with fresh coffee, fruit, and bread while soaking in the ocean views. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. With the refreshing sea breeze blowing through, you don't even need air conditioning. I spent the whole time chatting with the staff about travel stories. The owner, a jazz lover who even performs, was unfortunately out on his yacht that day, so we didn't get to meet him. However, guests can book a yacht excursion for an extra fee. We were warmly welcomed by the owner's kind wife and the staff. The building has two floors: the accommodation is on the first floor, and the cafe lounge is on the second floor. From the second-floor lounge and terrace, you get a 320-degree panoramic view of the calm Seto Inland Sea, perfect for watching both the sunrise and sunset. After the cafe closes, the entire building—including the lounge—is yours to enjoy in total privacy. The property has been featured in various media outlets. As of 2026, they are celebrating their 12th year. ⭐️ Currently recruiting final members! Save 1,200 yen monthly to use toward your stays or at the cafe. 🏫 The World's Oldest Public School for the Commoners: Founded in 1670 by Ikeda Mitsumasa, Lord of the Bizen Domain, this is the oldest existing public school for commoners in the world. The auditorium is uniquely designated as a National Treasure as a "Hall of Learning" and was certified as the very first Japan Heritage site in 2015. 🏫 A Unique Landscape Adorned with Bizen Ware Roof Tiles: The roofs of the school buildings feature approximately 250,000 roof tiles made of "Bizen Ware," a local traditional craft. The striking contrast between the reddish-brown tiles that have gleamed through the years and the surrounding lush greenery or autumn foliage is absolutely breathtaking. 🏫 The "Chinese Pistache (Kainoki)" and Seasonal Beauty: The grounds are home to giant "Chinese Pistache" trees, which are associated with Confucius and are famous for turning vibrant red and yellow in the autumn. Throughout the year, you can enjoy the perfect harmony between the historic buildings and the changing seasons—from spring cherry blossoms and deep summer greenery to a snowy winter wonderland. 🏫 The Master Craftsmanship of the "Stone Wall (Sekihei)": Stretching approximately 765 meters around the school, the exquisitely constructed stone wall boasts a unique, elegant curvature made from meticulously fitted cut stones and is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. The precise construction techniques, cleverly designed to prevent weeds from taking root, showcase the highly advanced civil engineering skills of the era.

Located in Bizen City, Shizutani School is Japan's oldest public school, established during the Edo period by the Okayama Domain to provide education for commoners. The lecture hall, designated as a National Treasure, stands out with its stunning stone walls, roof tiles, and wooden architecture, offering a serene atmosphere imbued with the weight of knowledge. 🏯✨ Visiting the site feels like stepping into the pages of a history textbook. Inside the lecture hall, the scent of wood and the enveloping silence naturally make you straighten your posture. It's a wonderful place to stroll with a partner while soaking in the historical ambiance, or to immerse yourself in the scholarly atmosphere on a solo trip. 📖 The scenery changes beautifully with the seasons—cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn leaves in fall. I visited during autumn, and the contrast between the colorful foliage and the lecture hall was so breathtaking that I couldn't stop taking photos. 📸 If you're looking to enrich your soul through travel, Shizutani School is the perfect destination. The tranquil and profound learning experience will surely make your journey unforgettable. 【Access】 Approximately 10 minutes by taxi from JR Yoshinaga Station About 1 hour by car from Okayama Station Shizutani School

Hinase Town is a town in Okayama Prefecture, adjacent to Hyogo Prefecture. Hinase is a seaside town with a port, and you can take a ferry⛴️ from Hinase Port to Shodoshima Island in Kagawa Prefecture. Oyster farming is popular here, and depending on the season, you can buy oysters in 18-gallon cans or enjoy all-you-can-eat oysters. May At the seaside station, they sell assorted shellfish and seafood caught in the Seto Inland Sea. If you're traveling by car, there are roadside stations along the Blue Line where you can buy local specialties and eat. 🍓 You can also go strawberry picking in spring. This is a route where you'll meet many people enjoying touring🏍️. Even though it's by the sea, you can experience a laid-back local atmosphere that's different from a resort. #Okayama #Hinase #SeasideStation

I dropped by "Azuma Island" in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture 💨 This island is known for having many cats, and I spent a relaxing time with the friendly cats, which was very healing 🫧 On the island, there is a cafe and an observation deck overlooking the island, where you can experience the cats, nature, and island life 🪻 It is accessible by car from Honshu, so please come and visit to be healed by the cats and the island's nature ◎ #0 yen trip

#springwander In 1701, his vassal Nagatada Tsuda spent more than 30 years to complete the "Hall of Learning" with an almost identical appearance as it is today. The building that represents the former Kangu School is the auditorium, which is designated as a national treasure. The large roof of the Irimoya-zukuri and the flower head window are impressive and unique, and the roof, which was originally thatched, has been replaced with Bizen-ware tiles due to renovation. Inside the spacious auditorium, which is supported by 10 round pillars of zelkos, there are also an old-fashioned Analects learning experience while sitting on the floor and learning Analects.

#cherryblossom25 "Plum Festival" at Bizen pottery gallery Sanroku-gama Covering a large area of 20,000 tsubo (66,116 square meters), Bizen ware potter Sanroku-gama is home to more than 1,000 plum trees that envelop the grounds in a comforting fragrance when they come into full bloom in March of each year. The annual Plum Festival during the season bustles with people visiting food stands and enjoying drum performances on weekends.

I came to Hinase Town in Okayama Prefecture, where you can eat delicious oysters 🦪. Okayama Prefecture is also known for Bizen ware. As I passed by Gomi Market in the middle of the oyster festival, I stopped by Takara Hachiman Shrine on my way there. I was surprised to see that the lion statues were Bizen ware! And as I passed by Saienji Temple (photo 3), the shachihoko (a shachiko) on the roof? (on the roof on the left) is probably Bizen ware as well. Hinase Town is a town famous for oysters, and it is located on the coast, so you can get to small islands such as Azuma Island by ferry. Oh, Azuma Island is connected by road and bridge, so you can also get there by bus. And a biryani restaurant that is known only to those in the know opened this year. They have oyster biryani, as well as vegan, chicken, and vegetable biryani. The biryani is delicious to die for, but reservations are required. They will also open a cafe section in the warmer season. For more details, check out #choutarahinase on Instagram. I wasn't able to take a good photo of my biryani, so I wondered if I should post it here. In fact, it looks even better than it looks! Please check out Choutara's Instagram. I think you should eat the biryani here so much that you'll get change back even if you make the effort to come here. And then I went to Okayama City. The cute yellow Ako Line runs very few trains on weekends, so be careful. And in Okayama City, I went to Milenga, a famous curry restaurant, and had a curry set. Okayama is hot for curry!! #choutarahinase #OkayamaTrip #HinaseTown #milenga

📍 It takes only an hour by car to Bizen from Himeji. 🚩 It’s a beautiful drive through the mountains and coastal areas of Aioi and Ako cities. 🍜 Enjoyed lunch at Seafood Iso restaurant (海鮮料理 磯), which I think is a must try for sashimi lovers. They have special local seasonal seafood. Always fresh. English menu available. 📷 Then had a good coffee at Arcadia Village. This is a good place to capture spectacular fotos at different times of the day. And the night view from their cafe is gorgeous! 🏠 Although we didn’t stay over, Arcadia village offers accommodation, and also a seaside day campsite. #deliciousfood #seasidephotoguide #localguides #seafood #Bizen #okayama #japan #hyogotravel

Hinasemachi, Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, a small town facing the Seto Inland Sea In fact, Hinasemachi is one of Japan's leading oyster producing areas Just like Hiroshima and Osaka have their own okonomiyaki, Hinase has its own standard okonomiyaki That is "kakioko" It is a so-called "oyster okonomiyaki" topped with a generous amount of the local specialty oysters, and is known as local soul food The birthplace of such "kakioko" is a long-established okonomiyaki restaurant founded in 1962, "Hori Okonomiyaki" It is topped with a generous amount of fresh oysters and thoroughly cooked in a batter dissolved in a special broth It is hot and fluffy, and once you have tried it, it is an exquisite dish that you will never forget It is a short walk from Hinase Station, but if you come by car, the dedicated parking lot is not large and it gets quite crowded at lunchtime, so it is recommended to line up early at lunchtime #0 yen trip January 2025 #Okayama Prefecture #Okonomiyaki #Oysters #B-class gourmet

"Mugenan" is a Bizen ware workshop located about a 20-minute walk from JR Ibe Station in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture. "Cafe MUGENAN+" is a cafe directly managed by the pottery manufacturer. They serve their special coffee and exquisite sweets in beautiful Bizen ware baked in their own workshop. The interior is very modern and stylish. It's a relaxing space for adults that matches the atmosphere of Bizen ware. I tried their signature menu items, "Adult Ice Pudding" and "Iced Donuts with Kinako". For my drink, I had latte art done on my cafe latte. The Bizen ware looks great with both the sweets and the coffee, and it looks really stylish and delicious. If you like the dishes, you can purchase them on the spot. The pottery manufacturer's workshop is located right in front of the shop. By the way, the shop also offers pottery experiences. #tripgourmet #OkayamaPrefecture #stylishcafe #Bizenware

Okayama 𓂃 𓈒𓏸 Bizen Snack Cafe UDO I missed the timing and haven't been back to Okayama for a long time🥺 (About 3 months though. lol) Bizen City is located in the southeast of Okayama. It is famous as the production area of Bizen ware, one of Japan's leading pottery, and there are many kilns and galleries around Ibe Station🏺 It is also famous for the Bizen ware festival that is held every autumn. I went to a stylish snack cafe at Ibe Station, the home of Bizen ware☕️ It was raining on the day I went, but the industrial-style interior had a charming atmosphere. It is a branch of Kinoshita Shoten, which is famous in Okayama You can enjoy carefully selected coffee and sweets in Bizen ware It was February at that time, so I had a chocolate fondant🍫 I wonder if creme brulée is a standard?
