#uktrip Day 2 started quietly, but little did I know how perfect it would turn out. Woke up in Bournemouth, staying at the Royal Bath Hotel, with the calm coastal air setting the mood for the day. No fancy breakfast plans — just a classic Tesco meal deal to fuel what was about to be a long but unforgettable journey. Simple start, big plans. Later, I hopped on the bus that takes you through the forest areas towards Poole, passing through Sandbanks — honestly one of those routes where you just sit by the window and watch everything change outside. Trees, water, open roads… the ride itself felt like part of the adventure. Got dropped off at the bus stop for Old Harry Rocks, and that’s where the real Day 2 began. We started the trek from there, and wow — that walk towards Old Harry Rocks was something else. The views, the fresh air, the cliffs, the sea stretching endlessly… it was peaceful, freeing, and genuinely one of those moments where you forget about everything else. The trail was beautiful from start to finish, and I enjoyed every step of it. One of those days where your legs are tired but your mind feels lighter. After a full day of walking and soaking in nature, the evening was all about celebrating. Ended the day with the best dinner — pizza and a glass of wine at RL Murrino Beach & Bar Restaurant 🍕🍷. As if the day wasn’t already special enough, they surprised me with a slice of cake since it was my birthday 🥹🎂 — a small gesture that genuinely made the night. But of course, the day couldn’t end there. To finish things off properly, I headed to Cameo Nightclub for some partying, music, and late-night energy. Day 1 began with coastal air and no rush — exactly how a trip should start. Touched down in Bournemouth and kicked things off with lunch at Harry Ramsden’s because honestly… burger + beer by the sea just hits different 🍔🍺. No schedule, no pressure, just good food and the sound of waves in the background. Since it was my first day, I decided to take it slow. Checked into the hotel, took a breather, and let the travel fatigue fade away. Later, I headed out to roam around Bournemouth beach, walking along the shoreline, watching the waves roll in, and just soaking in the calm. Sometimes the best plans are the unplanned ones. Ended the day back at the hotel, relaxed, recharged, and ready for what was coming next. Day 2 was for views, walking, and a bit of chaos 😅 Left early for Durdle Door, went up the track, and finally saw it in real life — one of those views that actually looks better than the pictures. After that, some trekking, then sitting by the beach, taking it all in, doing absolutely nothing for a while. Peaceful, quiet, and unreal. But the walking didn’t stop there. Headed towards the other end and trekked all the way to Lulworth Cove — tired legs but worth every step. While waiting for the bus back, I grabbed a burger and chips… or at least I tried to. In the blink of an eye, a seagull decided it was his lunch now 🕊️😭. Embarrassing? Yes. Funny? Also yes. To make it even better, the restaurant shut right after — no second burger, no revenge. What I thought would be a simple weekend by the beach turned into a colorful mix of sun-soaked walks, spontaneous adventures, and fun I didn’t realize I needed. If you’re thinking of a UK seaside breakbthat’s both nostalgic and surprisingly vibrant, Bournemouth is it. 🏖 Beach Days & Pier Adventures The beach is wide, golden, clean, and just made for lazy lounging or barefoot walks. I spent hours just watching the waves and grabbing bites from the beachside cafés. And right in the middle of it all? Bournemouth Pier — where things get unexpectedly exciting. Right next to the pier is the Bournemouth Big Wheel, which gives you panoramic views over the coastline. I went just before sunset — highly recommend timing it that way. The golden light, the sea, the horizon… it’s a vibe. 🦈 A Visit to the Oceanarium The Bournemouth Oceanarium was a surprisingly magical break from the beach scene. From sharks and stingrays to penguins waddling around like they own the place, it was both peaceful and fascinating. There’s a glass tunnel too, so you can walk right under the water and feel surrounded by marine life. 🎨 Hidden Gems: Obscura & Artsy Surprises One of the coolest surprises? Obscura — a quirky little arcade/art space right by the seafront. It's got vintage vibes, retro games, and this creative, slightly eccentric energy I absolutely loved. I ended up spending way too much time trying to beat old pinball scores and snapping Polaroid-style photos. 🍿 Rainy Day? Catch a Movie One evening, after a long day of walking and dodging seagulls (they will try to steal your chips), I ended up at the Odeon. It’s right in the center of town, super easy to walk to from the beach. There's just something nostalgic about watching a film at the seaside, especially when the weather turns chilly and you’re cozied up with popcorn. 🌳 Gardens, Ice Cream & That Classic Seaside Energy Between the beach and the town, don’t skip the Lower Gardens. I grabbed an ice cream and wandered through — floral displays, tiny bridges, live music, and people just relaxing. There was even a little mini-golf course tucked in there. Bournemouth surprised me — in the best way. It has the charm of a classic British seaside town but with enough personality, creativity, and fun to keep things interesting. I went for the beach. It features gorgeous floral displays, an aviary, mini-golf course, and a large rock garden. The park also hosts regular live music performances at the bandstand and seasonal events such as open-air art exhibitions in summer · Continuing down the hill it was apparent that almost every inch of beach was occupied, there being a colourful mix of parasols, windbreaks and deck chairs as far as the eye could see. Visit Bournemouth Pier - the first pier in Bournemouth consisted of a short wooden jetty that was completed in 1856. · If visiting with kids, I’d recommend you The Oceanarium. Situated on Bournemouth Pier and provides an educational and entertaining experience for visitors. It offers a variety of activities such as feeding sessions with reef sharks, stingrays, turtles, otters, and penguins. The aquarium showcases diverse marine species including Nemo's friends - the clownfish, sharks, crocodiles, reptiles, and seahorses. · Some of Bournemouth’s Victorian style beach huts are available to rent by the day or week whilst others are on long term leases. The huts seem so small but owners have clever space saving ideas and it was fun to glance in and see how they had used the space as we strolled along.

I needed a hotel in Bournemouth for a night so I stayed at the Travelodge on the seafront ,it’s a short hop from the beach , which has blue flag status , thanks to 7 miles of clean golden sand . Nearby there are coastal walks , pretty tea shops and places for traditional fish and chips. Unwind with great food , wonderful views and miles of coastline to explore . You’re close to both the train station and airport , and if you want to venture beyond , it’s a short drive into the heart of the new forest . Standard double rooms have a comfy king size bed ,complete with four plump pillows and a cosy duvet . Enjoy plenty of choices at breakfast and a delicious menu of evening meals in the onsite Bar and Cafe . Along with great food the Bar Cafe also serves a great range of drinks and bar snacks , including a great selection of world beers , pale ale and wines , Alcohol free drinks are also available. Breakfast from 7am -10am Monday to Friday and 8am - 11am on weekends . Dinner is between 5-10pm Parking is charged at £7.50per 24hrs for guests . #beachaholic Bournemouth has a long, wide sandy beach. It can get very busy, but not today as the weather was not good. It's nice to walk along the beach, and if you turn right in front of the pier, there is a pavement up and along for great views. Enjoy an ice-cream. You need to pay to go on the pier, a bit expensive, there is also a big wheel there. But the best options are the free ones of playing in the sea and sand, and walking.

What was surprising was that there were many traditional British homes around the hotels. The Savoy Hotel (now The Nici Hotel), where I stayed for one night, was a place that had the feel of a traditional British home. The floor was made of carpet and the creaking sound of wood when I walked was quite a refreshing shock. It reminded me of my childhood when I lived in England. The bathrooms were all dry toilets, so I had to be careful not to splash water on the floor. Bournemouth Beach is mainly divided into four parts: Alum Chine Beach, Durley Chine Beach, Fisherman's Walk Beach and Southbourne Beach! Among them, Alum Chine Beach and Durley Chine Beach are more famous and convenient, close to the center of Bournemouth. The latter two beaches are less crowded and comfortable, suitable for leisure vacations! Transport from London to Bournemouth: Train: Take the train from London Waterloo Station to Bournemouth Station. The whole journey takes about 2 hours. The Off Peak price after Group Discount for 3 people is about 33.85 pounds per person for a round trip! Without the Group Discount, it costs 57 pounds per person! These huts are called Beach Huts. They are rented out to store items or provide a place for people to cook and rest after a whole day on the beach! Behind the closed door is a great spot for taking photos. XD The colors here are mainly yellow, blue and green. If there are three people coming, each person can choose a color! Popular shooting spot 3: Rows of gradient-colored cottages At Bournemouth Pier, when facing the sea, walk to the left and you will see rows of cottages in gradient colors! Starting from beige, it gradually changes to green, blue, purple, pink, light...a variety of colors for you to choose from! My personal favorites are the three areas of gradient blue, gradient purple, and gradient pink. In terms of framing, you can shoot one cabin independently or multiple cabins together, it’s so beautiful! Bournemouth. Not a place you hear about too often, and definitely not a place you think about when you want to see untouched nation But it is a treat to go check it out yourself. This hidden place does not have too many tourist traps, but it is easy to get there by car. Once there, walk along the path next to the cliffs and take in the refreshing sea breeze. The cliffs are known are Known as Harry. there is a sad story that his wife walked along the cliffs and accidentally fell over. and that’s how they got their name. Thankfully nowadays there are rails in place. And a great path down to the shore to check out the beach. a lonely place to walk across. All in all I would definitely recommend this scenic area off the beaten path and take in the smells of the fresh sea. 😊 #christmasgiveaway

Decent location, 5 minute walk to the beach, and a 20 minute walk along the beach to the Bournemouth pier. Observation wheel is a little pricey but the views are great, the Oceanarium was a good experience, different sea animals to see and admission was fairly priced.

This was a lovely experience we are now looking to travel by train more. we are looking at Devon this week. my husband could relax and enjoy the trip
