💸 You really don’t need to pay for every NYC experience - some of my favourite parts of the trip cost me $0. 🌉 Brooklyn Bridge + DUMBO - free, iconic and honestly one of the best walks I did. 🌃 Brooklyn Bridge Park - $0 and one of my favourite spots for the Manhattan skyline. ⛴️ Staten Island Ferry - completely free, around 25 mins each way and a great way to see the harbour and Statue of Liberty views without paying for a cruise. 🌳 Central Park - $0, and I’d leave a few hours for it instead of trying to rush through. 🚶 The High Line - another free walk I’d happily do again. 🏙️ Times Square - costs nothing to see; what you spend once you get there is another story 😂 🐂 Wall Street + Charging Bull - $0 and easy to combine with the rest of Lower Manhattan. 🕊️ 9/11 Memorial - the outdoor Memorial is free; the Museum is separate and ticketed. 🏛️ Grand Central - free to walk in and worth seeing even if you’re not catching a train. 🚇 For transport, I’d just use OMNY - subway/local bus is $3 a ride, and using the same card or device lets the weekly fare cap work automatically. 🎟️ My recommendation: don’t overthink travel passes - for a normal NYC trip, tap the same card/phone with OMNY and let the fare cap do the work. 👟 My biggest NYC tip: walk whenever you can - I saw far more of New York between the tourist spots than I expected. 🗺️ I’d plan by area, not attraction - DUMBO + Brooklyn together, Wall Street + 9/11 + Staten Island Ferry together, and Midtown together. 📅 For a first trip, I’d personally choose 5 days - 3-4 covers the highlights, but 5 gives you time to enjoy the city instead of just ticking places off. 🏨 I wouldn’t automatically stay in central Manhattan - I’d compare Long Island City or Brooklyn, but only book somewhere close to a subway station. ✈️ From London, I’d compare dates rather than chase an ‘average’ airfare - New York works well even as a shorter trip if you find the right fare. I made it to the Brooklyn Bridge just in time for sunset. The gradient sky against the twinkling city nightscape was as beautiful as a movie scene. Walking briskly from one end of the bridge to the other for half an hour was totally worth it 🥲 Visited Brooklyn Cat Cafe again, and all the kittens were new faces. Each one had its own collar, with staff thoughtfully writing their names on them and using colors to distinguish each kitten's personality. Went to the dog Halloween parade on the weekend, which was truly a paradise for dogs. I envy every dog owner!! This time I stayed at The Standard, High Line, booked a studio room with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides offering views of the Hudson River. The bathtub faces Little Island—love it so much 🌃

A rainy day gave Park Slope, Brooklyn a completely different kind of charm.
