A month ago, I visited Egypt 🇪🇬 and discovered many wonderful items. I’d like to share the places where I purchased them, hoping it will be helpful for your travels! 1️⃣ Nefertari 🧼 A natural cosmetics brand originating from Egypt. My personal top recommendation is their soap. They offer several varieties, but the white soap labeled "Milk & Honey" left my skin feeling moisturized and soft after washing. There are multiple stores in Cairo, including locations at the airport and the Grand Egyptian Museum. However, the selection at the airport shop is not as good as in the city, so I recommend purchasing in the city whenever possible. 2️⃣ Ateeq Design 💍 A souvenir shop located on Gezira Island. You can find unique accessories like rings and other Egypt-inspired souvenirs here. Most items are priced between a few hundred to a few thousand yen, making it much more affordable compared to the Grand Egyptian Museum. The ring I purchased was priced between 1,500 to 2,000 yen. It’s within walking distance from the Marriott and Sheraton hotels. The cute signboard and the friendly cats at the shop added to the charm. 3️⃣ Grand Egyptian Museum Official Shop 🛍️ The official shop inside the museum. The entrance is located next to the statue of Ramses II. While the prices are relatively high, the designs are stylish and unique. As shown in the photos, the monkey-designed tote bag was particularly popular (priced at just under 3,000 yen). Accessories like necklaces were around 7,500 yen, and scarab bracelets were approximately 5,000 yen. Popular items may sell out quickly, so if you find something you like, it’s best to purchase it right away. 4️⃣ Citystars Mall 🌇 A large shopping mall near New Cairo and Cairo International Airport. It’s about a 30-40 minute taxi ride from Cairo city center. The mall houses various stores, including a supermarket (Seoudi supermarket) where you can buy snacks for sharing. It’s a great place for those who want to shop in bulk. Locals also frequent this mall, and you can purchase accessories and perfumes here. There’s a Nefertari store as well, but the selection at the Grand Egyptian Museum shop was better. 5️⃣ Khan el-Khalili Market 🛕 A famous destination for souvenir shopping. Price negotiation is essential here. You can usually lower the price by 30-50% from the initial offer. For reference, I bought three magnets for 300 Egyptian pounds (about 900 yen). Small stone containers and figurines of pharaohs or queens were priced between 3,000 to 4,000 yen. Regarding figurines, the price I paid might have been high. If you have time, I recommend visiting several shops first to get a sense of the average price. ▶︎ Notes ☀︎ Shops 1-4 accept credit cards. ☀︎ Some shops in Khan el-Khalili Market do not accept credit cards, so it’s better to carry cash just in case.

Standing in front of the pyramids, you truly realize how astonishing the wisdom of the ancients is.

Stayed in Cairo for three days, and the best decision was to stay at this hotel. The moment I opened the window, the Great Pyramid of Khufu was right in front of me. I never thought a world wonder could be this close to me! · This time I booked a room with a bathtub. Soaking in the tub with the pyramids outside the window—this experience feels unreal! The room isn’t very big but is very new. The power outlets are two-pronged, which the owner said was specially installed for Chinese guests. The attention to detail really touches you. · Had breakfast on the rooftop terrace early in the morning. The selection was super rich, and the fried eggs and flatbread tasted fantastic. Eating right in front of the pyramids makes for incredible photos, and my social media was flooded with questions! Compared to the Mena House, the same view at a tenth of the price! The cost-performance ratio is truly unbeatable. · The front desk staff speaks fluent Chinese, so communication was flawless. They can help order takeout, call a car to the museum, exchange Egyptian pounds, and even when I left for the airport at 4 a.m., they packed breakfast for me!!! · It only takes ten minutes by taxi from here to the North Gate of the pyramids. There’s a small supermarket next to the gas station nearby, so buying water and snacks is just a short walk away!

Inside, there is also a "ground window" opened for visitors to see the underground space. 🕍 Possibly due to foundational constraints, the church space is somewhat small, with main dimensions of only 23.5 meters long and 18.5 meters wide, but it is decorated quite luxuriously. The wood carvings and stone carvings are intricate and exquisite. 🕌 In Egypt, Christianity is a relatively small cultural group, and this "Hanging Church" combines Arabic motifs with Roman architectural style. As a witness to a millennium of civilization, it is very well preserved.
