It takes about an hour to drive from San Diego to Julian. The town isn’t very big, but it’s famous for its apples and rich gold rush history. Every year from March to May, a vast area of purple wildflowers blooms along the Sea Cliff Coastal Bluff Trail by the seaside in Del Mar, California, creating a romantic and lively spring flower sea landscape. The flower sea grows beside the Pacific cliffs, offering a distant view of the deep blue ocean and winding coastline, while nearby you can hear the gentle sea breeze and the long whistle of trains passing on the tracks, creating a poetic atmosphere like a movie scene. The densest flowers are on the left side near the sea, perfect for capturing photos of the flower sea and ocean together; the small hill beyond the railroad tracks is also full of blossoms; continuing along the trail for about 10 minutes leads to Del Mar Beach, ideal for surfing or beach strolling. A desert oasis in Anza Borrego State Park is the Casa Del Zorro resort, just a 2 hour road trip from San Diego. As the night creeps, the sky is covered with a dome of stars, so clear and so bright, it's one of the gems of the State Park (hoping it's not a cloudy forecast). Borrego Springs also offers a breathtaking view of Fonts Point, a mini "Grand Canyon" so to speak. Be sure to have an AWD vehicle as the road to access Fonts Point requires it due to sandy conditions. Heading east is where the Salton Sea is located, known for fish bones sand and very salty, and possibly, toxic waters. Before heading back to San Diego, be sure to stop by the adorable town of Julian, and grab a bite of their famous apple pies!

Must-sees (be sure to check the SeaWorld app) 1. Orca Show 2. Sea Lion Show 3. Dolphin Show 4. Walrus and Beluga Each show lasts about 20 minutes, so you can watch them all at once. All of these shows are a must-see! ^^ If you get wet during the orca show, there's a hairdryer outside for $6. ㅋ But the weather is nice, so you'll probably dry off soon. Actually, this place has a great view. There's a place to sit and relax near the cable car (to the northwest), and you wouldn't regret staying here all day. Also, definitely try the cable car ($6)! Next is the All-Day Dining We went with a couple and our 9 and 6-year-old boys, but the All-Day Dining seems like it's just for the two of us... The All-Day Dining offers a choice of one entree, one side, and one drink every 90 minutes. You can't choose water, so pack it in. As you can see in the photo, the portions are huge. Some people say it's not very tasty, but... It's much tastier than a Korean Big Mac, lol. Keep in mind that it's a bit salty overall. We visited three places, and fortunately, we had plenty of plastic bags in our bags, so we packed up all the leftovers and ate them as dinner and snacks. ㅎ We came during the off-season, so we had a great time at a great spot without having to wait. ^^

This is my personal list of recommendations what you need to see to fall in love with this city La Jolla Cove The beach with seals was one of the most touching moments of the trip. You’re sitting on the rocks, and they’re right there. OMG! They are so cute! They are sleeping, swimming, living their lives. Go early in the morning for fewer people and a much more peaceful feeling. Sunsets I thought I was hard to impress when it comes to sunsets. But San Diego sunsets are so dramatic, and completely different every night. Pick any beach, stay until the last light, and don’t rush home. Rent a car This is not optional. A car in the US is the only way to get anywhere. Rent something beautiful if you can. Driving along the coast with music on is part of the experience. Blacks Beach (from the cliff) You don’t need to go down. The parking is not convenient on the sand but the views are so worth it. Standing on the cliff, with the ocean stretching endlessly below, feels surrealistic. Joshua Tree National Park Come for sunset, stay for stargazing, and hike during the day. The desert is known for its rocks formation and how they look when the sun goes down. Important tip: bring warm clothes. Desert nights get cold fast, we were very naive and didn’t. San Diego Zoo Safari Park Camera: Sony a7s2 Lens: Sigma 100-400 A two to three-hour drive from LA to stroll around in a virtual nature setting. The experience is excellent; animal density is not high, but the animals seem happier. Barbed wire and landscape walls ensure separation between people and animals while making you feel very close to the animals. Guide - Before departure: Tickets are cheapest on the Orange app. Gear: Camera, comfortable shoes, a thick jacket for the evening, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen (the sun inside the park is quite strong, but walking is not as much as you might think). Download the park app: Mark the animals you especially want to see in advance. Time: No need to get up early; we got up at 10:30 AM and entered the park at 12:30 PM, which was just right for the visit. Route: It’s recommended to go counterclockwise so that when you reach the foxes and bats, they are just waking up. Save the Tram ride for 2 or 3 PM to avoid lines. Platypus ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The little animal that can make its own egg tarts, the only zoo outside Australia with a platypus exhibit. The animals move quickly, and I couldn’t catch them with my telephoto lens. The exhibit is very dark, so let your eyes adjust. Africa Tram ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very popular, a must-do! The best free experience in the park. Enter the park and go right; it’s close to the giraffes and hot air balloons. Kangaroos 🦘 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The only exhibit where visitors can enter the enclosure. Double doors allow you to be inside with the kangaroos without any wire mesh between you, but there are staff watching, so no petting allowed. Tigers 🐯 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Many tigers, and they all seem quite happy. There’s a tiger cub with its mother, very affectionate. Elephants 🐘 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great enrichment; the elephants are half wet, probably from a pond. Nearby is a tent area where you can pay to stay overnight and spend the night with the elephants 🌙. Orangutans ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a show 😇 Many orangutans together, like a small society… Although it’s winter, it doesn’t block the feeling of spring… Saying this somewhat cryptically, you can decode it yourself. Owls 🦉 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So cute, babies!!! Bats 🦇 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The exhibit is way too hot; strongly recommend visiting at night when the bats are awake. The bats also put on a show… Overall, it’s a lot of fun! Not as big as imagined, and walking is quite manageable. Perfect for weekends or short holidays: Day 1 La Jolla, Day 2 the zoo.

Taking advantage of the Thanksgiving long weekend, we traveled from LA to San Diego, visiting two zoos and some major attractions. Because we were traveling with kids, we adopted a relaxed approach, giving them a nap each day. On the first day, Thanksgiving, the Safari Park closed early at 3 PM, so it wasn't too crowded. After entering the park, we went straight to the Africa Tram, waited in line for about 15 minutes, and saw giraffes, antelopes, rhinos, and other African animals. Afterwards, we had breakfast at Okavango Outpost. After breakfast, we visited the elephant, tiger, goat, and kangaroo enclosures, seeing some animals that interested the kids. After the visit, we returned to the main park entrance, rode the carousel, bought souvenirs, and left the park around 2:30 PM, just in time for the kids' nap. We then had lunch at Xiangcun Renjia. For accommodation, we took advantage of a Chase Reserve Edit deal and chose The US Grant Downtown. In the evening, we walked to the Midway Museum and saw the statues. (Figures 2-8) The next morning, we went to the San Diego Zoo. We headed straight for the bus upon entering, but still waited in line for 30 minutes. I recommend sitting on the right side of the bus for a better view of the animals. On the bus, we saw tigers, elephants, lions, bears, and more, all from the right side. After getting off the bus, you can go directly to see the flamingos, and then follow the trail to see various monkeys and orangutans. Finally, we took an elevator down to the panda enclosure, waited in line for 30 minutes, and only saw a sleeping panda! 🤣 Afterwards, you can take an elevator across the bridge to the cable car entrance, and take the cable car back to the park entrance. We left the park around 2 PM. The kids were sleeping, so we rushed to La Jolla Cove. We had dinner at the lounge of The Marine Room, a restaurant with a sea view. We took advantage of a Chase Reserve deal; the view was beautiful, the food was delicious, and it was definitely worth it. Julian is most famous for: apple pie and hot apple cider. 👉 The town is small, with the core area only about 200 meters, one street. You can search for: Julian Pie Company for apple pie, but the line is very long.
