Fewer people, stunning views, and no tiring hikes—personally tested and great for exploring without any disappointments! There are many amazing small towns around Dubrovnik. To the northwest, Ston has the "European Great Wall," and to the southeast, Cavtat’s sea is so clear it glows. This time, with limited time, I only unlocked Cavtat and Popovići village. Here’s the guide, just save it! Cavtat | A secret clear sea paradise favored by the wealthy A naturally filtered tranquil town where the sea is so clear you can see the pebbles underwater. Definitely a rich person’s holiday backyard~ It’s super close to Dubrovnik Airport but has no direct bus, so don’t miss the ride! 🚃 Transport tips: Take bus number 10 from the bus stop near the Dubrovnik cable car, key point! The Dubrovnik Pass city card doesn’t work here, you have to buy the ticket on the bus, one-way is 4 euros. One of the unexpected delights of my trip to Croatia was Cavtat, near Dubrovnik! Just a 20-minute drive or reachable by bus, it’s a perfect escape from the bustling noise of Dubrovnik, offering a unique gentle tranquility. I checked in at Leut Restaurant, visited by Ren Zhengfei; when the owner heard I was from China, he warmly offered coffee and flowers, instantly filling me with the warmth of a foreign land. My favorite spot here is the arched corridor, where dappled light and shadow slow down time, making it hard to leave. Prices are also much friendlier than in Dubrovnik—just 2 euros for a sweet ice cream, easily bringing happiness. I stayed from afternoon until dusk, watching the orange sunset paint the sky, experiencing a romantic sunset, enjoying a delicious dinner, and then took the 9 PM bus back to Dubrovnik, feeling completely relaxed. If you are currently planning your own Dubrovnik trip, I highly recommend staying in Cavtat, I returned the year after and stopped in Hotel Supetar for 2 incredible nights! Cavtat has a very pretty harbour filled with boats and palm trees, although small, it really is a joy to walk along! You can relax on one of the lovely terraces like I did or sit on a bench and watch the world go by! At the end of the waterfront is a trail and long coastal walk leading to several small beaches in Cavtat with natural pine tree shade and shockingly good views! When I set off on this easy 30-minute shaded walk, I had no idea where it would lead, but I soon came across pebbly beaches, a small bar and the clearest blue water – and the best thing was I pretty much had it all to myself- Cavtat is not over-crowded at all!

Desperate to escape the gray skies of Gothenburg, I ended up in sunny Croatia. We started in Cavtat, an incredibly peaceful little gem just minutes from the airport. The weather is absolutely perfect—around 77 degrees (25°C) with a warm sea breeze. I spent hours sitting at a small local konoba down by the harbor, eating the most delicious grilled octopus I've had in ages while gazing out over the crystal-clear water. Today, we took the car on the ferry over to Hvar. Parking at the hotel was a bit of a hassle, but the view makes it worth all the trouble. Now, I'm heading out to find a cozy hole-in-the-wall for dinner tonight. Croatia really delivers.
