The landlord who was responsible for receiving me was such a person. Although I only stayed for a short day, I felt that this place was very special. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Moreover, this B&B was over a hundred years old. The owner packaged the things left by his ancestors into a small museum, allowing us tourists to visit and understand their Chania culture. Loutro is a small fishing village located in southern Crete (Chania Prefecture) time has forgotten. It took its name from the baths found there (loutro means bath). It is believed that it was the side of the ancient city of Phoenix and also was the port of ancient Anopolis. There are two ways to reach Loutro, by boat or on foot via Anopolis. However, we would not recommend the second one unless you are an experienced hiker. In reality Loutro is accessible only from the sea, which is why it has escaped the environmental and cultural deterioration brought by rampant touristic growth. There are no big hotels here, no crowded streets, no cars. Only a handful of residents along with a relatively small number of visitors enjoying the sun, the sea and the “freedom of seclusion”. The village is so small you can actually walk from one side to the other in 5 minutes or less. Still, you will not miss on anything; there are markets, taverns, restaurants, coffee shops and of course several hotels and rooms to let. Doing nothing is the best thing to do here. Most hotel rooms have balconies facing the bay, offering you the opportunity to get lost in the hypnotic view - yes, this is the peak of your day. Other than that, make sure to enjoy the food and rent a small boat to visit the marvelous beaches in the broader area especially Marmara and Glyka Nera. The waters are mythical. Moreover, there are several nice walks in the area, if you are up to a hike. You can explore the Gorge of Aradena, Imvros Gorge and of course the great Samaria Gorge. You can also climb the road up to Anopolis where you can admire the magnificent views towards the bay. There are also some very nice buildings to see, such as the Government House that was used in 1821 (during the Greek Revolution) and the Byzantine church of the Archangel Michael. #mynovgetaway #mynovgetaway

The iguana beach is located on the island of Crete in Greece. We walked a bit though the uninhabited areas of the island near the sea to reach it. Chania is the second largest city with the second busiest airport on the island of #crete located at the Aegean sea and part of #greece . This Mediterranean paradise features good views and amazing architecture in Venetian style. It is different even than other cities on this island so it worth a visit. My visit to Rethymno and Chania in Greece was truly unforgettable. Both places were full of beauty, history, and charm. Plemeniana is a peaceful village nestled in the green hills of southern Chania, just outside Kandanos. during my recent trip to Crete, I decided to visit Kalyves, a small seaside town 20 to 30 minutes away from Chania. there's a great beach with gently sloping sand into the sea, with plenty of sunbeds to hire if you wish. or you can just lay it on the beach on your towel. there's a nice carefree atmosphere about the place. there's plenty of bars and restaurants and small local tavernas to choose from. there's a great bus service along the West coast and also going east to Rethymnon. there's a great freshwater lake to visit, lake kornas, where you can take a swim in the cool fresh water, hire a boat or pedalo. there's some great sightseeing and exploring to be done in the small amount of villages.

I have spent many time in Chania both solo and with family. Chania is a short drive from the airport. so makes this really easy for a short or longer trip. it has many old buildings in the older part of town of which many have been preserved and turned into rental accommodation. on my trip I decided to stay three nights in your town and then move to another part of Crete for my remaining five days. Chania itself allows you to explore the old town, the beaches, and also the newer part of town with all the modern shops etc. they're a great bakeries and restaurants to eat in both the old and new parts and a marvellous harbour, which is great for watching the sunset in the evening. I always feel a magical feeling when I'm in Chania it's lovely to go this time of year when you can watch the swifts making their nests and flying around. it's easy to get to from the UK and flights are relatively cheap. I feel it makes really good shorts too for a long weekend or a short break
