Getting There - The best and easiest way is to go there by car / taxi. Tickets - For 80 yuans, you can get a ticket to Waiba temple (down the road and much smaller), and the Putuo Zongcheng temple (which is the one known as the Little Potala Palace). Attractions - so many things to see, but the Red Roof (if I’m not mistaken) was inspired in the Tibetan Potala Palace, so the architecture and the colors - maroon, white, yellow and green - really stand out when compared to other temples. Hotels - there are some hotels nearby, and I definitely recommend the Puning Mountain Resort Hotel if you want to stay at a place that has beautiful Chinese architecture. Food & Restaurants - When you go out from the temple complex, there are many shops selling noodles, almonds, and so on. This hotel was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. We traveled to Chengde by train from Beijing and then took a taxi to the hotel. The staff were available on WeChat to answer any questions we had. Once we arrived we were show to our room which was across from the pool and deck. The view was perfect and the infinity pool cool and perfect for swimming and taking in the view. We ate all our meals at the hotel and the food was delicious. There were friendly dogs in the gardens. during the evening and on the weekends, the gardens filled up with visitors coming for a barbecue dinner, so grab a table early! Now that there is a high speed train right from Beijing you can get to Chengde in about an hour making it a great day trip. I was supposed to go to Tibet earlier in the year and Covid put a stop to that. Chengde was a great alternative. I would suggest starting the day at some of the temples around town, there are a few large ones up on the hills. Then heading to town, there were a few flee markets where you can go shopping and get a few extremely heavy Buddhist statues (why I suggest doing it later in the day). Unfortunately we had plans of exploring the rest of town later on but rain clouds appeared out of nowhere so we called a didi to take us back to the train station.

In Chengde Xinglong, I found such a place—Xinglong Yanju Homestay. It’s not just a homestay; it feels more like a “secret manor” hidden on the edge of the city. At first encounter with Yanju, I was surprised by its “cleverness.” It’s neither far from the hustle and bustle nor completely detached, as if it forms its own world. The transportation here is very convenient. It’s just about a twenty-minute walk from Xinglong Bus Station, with shopping districts and hospitals all around. Even better, it’s adjacent to Jiulongtan, Xinglong Karst Cave, and the National Astronomical Observatory. During the day, you can explore geological wonders that are hundreds of millions of years old, and at night, return to the homestay to instantly switch back to a peaceful vacation mode. Just returned from Anaya in Qinhuangdao, and then rushed to Anaya in Guangzhou. Having been to Guangzhou so many times, I've visited Tianhuan, Dongshankou, and Yongqingfang many times. If I had to choose the place with the highest concentration of good-looking people, I would still cast my vote for Jiulong Lake Anaya. Not everyone is naturally beautiful, but everyone seems to have their own style, relaxed and at ease, just looking very chill～ I stayed in A.HOTEL in the town center area. The front desk ladies were warm and friendly, thoughtfully giving travel suggestions, often reminding me that the canteen and lakeside market are just around the corner. I found a "Hospitality Choice" brochure in the room; hotel enthusiasts would definitely recognize every place listed. I even recommended the Dunhuang Biyue Hotel to my friends, worth traveling to a city just for one hotel. Right next to A.HOTEL is DANDY ROOM KTV🎤 with various themed private rooms. One room with old Shanghai style is extremely photogenic, the sound system is new, and the sound quality is excellent. After singing, if you get hungry, just go downstairs and turn a corner to the Midnight Princess Instant Noodle Bar, offering many rare instant noodles and a variety of toppings to choose from. Having a hot bowl at night is super comforting🍜 I never feel that the relaxed vibe of Anaya is artificially created. Here, people naturally slow down, casually stroll around, and everywhere you look is clean and orderly, with no shop falling behind in aesthetics. The displays and selections at the lakeside market are especially charming. Lan Ye Hawthorn is a must-bring gift every time I come.
