🌟Tour Guide's Log: Guizhou Trip🌟
Hello everyone, today I'm continuing my tour guide's log. It's been a week since my last update, I'm so sorry! I hope my followers (fellow tour guides, tourists, friends, and classmates) won't mind. I woke up at 6:00 AM today, so I'm taking this time to write my tour guide's log.
Day 1: First Encounter with Zunyi
On the evening of the 21st, I picked up a group of 18 people at Zunyi Station. First, I met the driver. We're from the same boat, so it was easy to get along. I bought him some Oriental Leaf tea, and he shared stories of good tour guides he'd met before. Later, I discovered he was from my hometown—what a coincidence! After picking up the guests, I offered to help them with their luggage, but the driver criticized me, saying it wasn't part of my job, nor was it my responsibility as a driver. He said that taking on too much responsibility would make me vulnerable to being manipulated by the guests and losing control of the group. I later wholeheartedly agreed.
Day 2: Chishui Danxia Scenic Area
On the 22nd, we went to the Chishui Danxia Scenic Area. Thanks to the excellent pick-up and explanation I gave the previous day, the overall trip went smoothly. I instructed the guests to follow my instructions and to keep the tour bus clean.
Day 3: Bing'an, Tucheng Ancient Town, and Maotai Town
On the 23rd, we visited Bing'an, Tucheng Ancient Town, and Maotai Town. Bing'an is a red culture tourism town, and Tucheng is a local folk custom town. Both places are relatively rustic and have fewer tourists. In the afternoon, we arrived at Maotai Town. When picking up and dropping off guests, the driver didn't wait by the roadside beforehand, causing the tour bus to stop at a road bend for five or six minutes, creating a dangerous situation. The driver reminded me to go back and review the road safety laws.
Day 4: Zunyi Conference Site, Yunmentun, and Wujiang Village
On the 24th, we visited the Zunyi Conference Site, Yunmentun, and Wujiang Village. Yunmentun had very few tourists; so few that we had to arrange our own shuttle bus. The conference site memorial hall was also unremarkable. We checked into Wujiang Village after 10 pm. I drank some baijiu (Chinese liquor) and, taking advantage of my numb state, showed my cute side to the uncles and aunts.
Day 5: Meitan Tea Plantation and Tongren City
On the 25th, we visited the Meitan Tea Plantation and stayed overnight in Tongren City. The vast tea plantation in Meitan was truly a sea of green. I couldn't help but exclaim, "I love my hometown, Guizhou! Guizhou is so beautiful!" That evening, the driver and guests drank and played drinking games together again… (The guests didn't make any requests of me or the driver; we anticipated everything we could think of. The driver, who has worked in the tourism industry for decades, was incredibly thoughtful and attentive.)
The Driver's Wisdom
What did the driver do? Here are a few examples: He opened the luggage compartments in advance so we could have breakfast, making it easier for the guests to load and unload their luggage; he treated the guests politely and considerately, offering to pick them up on the way, saving them the trouble of coming to the parking lot; he suggested I check in first and then go to dinner, allowing the guests free time afterwards, essentially completing the check-in process and ending my work—a little tip for leading a tour that saves effort every day.
I hope these tips are helpful!
