#postandearn I recently visited Coombe Abbey Country Park and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The walking routes were beautifully scenic and well-maintained, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The picturesque scenes are amazing! Everywhere is well maintained. The staff in the Info centre was helpful and I like the Discovery Centre as well, as it shows what to expect and it’s interactive. It also has a dog friendly cafe, a groomers and children's play area. The car park is very reasonable so you can enjoy a few hours here and not spend a fortune.

#coventrytrips Nice place to walk around and is popular with dog walkers. Normally I would have a few photos but while I was visiting they were preparing the Christmas display. The children love climbing, exploring, wildlife spotting and playing in the play areas, my only issue is the car parking, it gets extremely busy. The forest is well kept and scenic, and the go ape seems to be a good feature, but not an eyesore. Nice bird hide as well over the lake

On this occasion, it was the captivating history of the Abbey, shared by Anthony, the boat master (I’ll review that separately). The rooms are opulent, immaculate, and cozy, offering fantastic value. If you prefer sterile, characterless box-style accommodations, this is not the place for you. The dining experience is also a highlight—both dinner, breakfast, and the bar menu are delicious, beautifully presented, and served with understated professionalism. Check-in and check-out were seamless. Watching baby rabbits frolic around the moat from the leaded windows was an utterly charming touch. We opted to upgrade our room this time and couldn’t have been more pleased with the choice. We’ll undoubtedly return—there’s truly no place quite like it.

We had the chance to upgrade to a grand feature room and were assigned The Lucy Bedchamber in the newly built priory. The moment we stepped inside, we were in awe—the room was stunning, featuring a four-poster bed and a spiral staircase leading to a standalone bathtub and a steam/shower room. For the proposal, I brought my own tea lights and petals (as shown in photos), but I believe the hotel also offers petals and other extras for purchase. Dinner was absolutely fantastic—I highly recommend the lamb shank, which was so tender it fell off the bone. We were seated in the birdcage dining areas for both dinner and breakfast (not sure if it was a coincidence, but it definitely added something special to the experience). Breakfast was a hot and delicious buffet with plenty of variety, along with tea, coffee, and juice options. While the stay ended up being more costly than I had initially expected, I think it was entirely worth it for such a memorable occasion. The staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming. Anthony shared the Abbey's history and its transformation through the years, showing genuine enthusiasm for the Abbey and the stunning surroundings. Our punt ride on a charming November day, complete with a hot water bottle, blanket, and a glass of bubbly, was perfect! Anthony, your singing was fantastic. Highly recommended for couples and families—my kids would love it there too.

Mum, who prefers smaller portions, chose the Monks savory tea, resembling a high-quality cheese board with fruit, celery, and a touch of sweetness. Our teas were English breakfast, Moroccan mint, and Jasmine, all loose leaf with individual pouring sieves. The staff ensured our satisfaction, asking if we required anything else, which made us feel special. Unable to finish, we were provided with lovely boxes to take leftovers home. All in all, it was a fantastic afternoon, warm, well-fed, with enough space between seats to converse comfortably. For any special occasion, I highly recommend this venue, and we will surely return.

Following a prior visit a couple of years ago, we booked another overnight stay en route to Essex. The Abbey is truly unique with a grand presence inside and outside. Our room on the second floor matched the gothic style, featuring a large half tester bed. All necessary amenities were provided. We wished for plug sockets by the bed for phones and better lighting but remained comfortable. We dined in the garden restaurant, where the food was excellent; the portions were reasonable and well prepared. Breakfast was abundant with optional complimentary Prosecco. My only complaint was that the tea and coffee were from a machine and, frankly, awful! Why can't hot drinks be served fresh from the kitchen? Our highest praise goes to the fantastic staff. Mainly young but friendly and polite. The young man managing the restaurant was new but impressively proficient. Service throughout the hotel was superb. We’ll be back!

Special mention to Andrew, a constant friendly presence since our first visit—always attentive and delightful, with a welcoming smile. This will be our yearly destination until we're old and frail. More than ten years later, I visited the UK again and decided to stay in a hotel with an ancient building for a night. After searching different online booking websites, I found that most castle-style hotels are very expensive. But I found a 12th century monastery that had been converted into a hotel, and a family room for four was only over a thousand Hong Kong dollars, so I decided to give it a try. Located in Coventry, near Birmingham, it is in the suburbs and self-driving is recommended. The surrounding environment is first-class, there is a large park, and there is also a rope adventure facility to play, but there are quite a lot of people playing, so remember to reserve time for reservation. The room is very antique, and the decoration of the bathroom is a highlight. The restaurant is also very beautiful, but since seats are limited, remember to make a reservation in advance, otherwise it will most likely be full.
