Autumn in Daocheng Yading, western Sichuan, is truly breathtaking! From golden meadows to vibrant crimson forests, from azure lakes to snow-capped mountains, I've compiled a super practical guide for this autumn trip to western Sichuan. Save it for those planning a trip! First, let's talk about the most pressing costs. Converting everything to Hong Kong dollars is super convenient: the entrance fee with the sightseeing bus is HK$146 per person, with the sightseeing bus costing HK$120 per person (this is a must, no option). The electric bus is HK$70 per person (round trip). If you're looking to save some effort, you can ride a horse from Luolong Niuchang to Sheshen Cliff for HK$200 per person, but be aware that it only reaches the mountainside; you'll have to hike the remaining two kilometers. The best time to enjoy the autumn scenery is from late October to mid-November, which is when I went. The scenery is truly amazing! As for how to enjoy the scenery, I tried two routes for your reference. The first is the King Kong Challenge Trail, which is highly recommended! From the visitor center, take a one-hour bus ride to Zhaguanbeng. After getting off, walk 500 meters to the electric bus starting point. Take a 20-minute electric bus ride to Luolong Cattle Farm, where you can choose to hike or ride horses to reach the Milk Lake and Five-Colored Lake. The round-trip hike takes about 5-6 hours, and at an altitude of 4,700 meters, take your time and don't rush. The second option is the medium route plus short route, which is more suitable for those who prefer a leisurely and scenic experience. Get off at Zhaguanbeng, the bus terminal, and walk 500 meters to the electric bus starting point. Purchase a round-trip electric bus ticket for HK$70. When boarding, be sure to tell the driver to get off at the Shengshui Lake stop. After getting off, walk along the plank road to Luolong Cattle Farm. The entire walk is approximately 3 kilometers. The road is flat and easy to walk, offering breathtaking views of lakes, streams, and snow-capped mountains. Don't walk down from Luolong Cattle Farm, as you'll miss out on the stunning scenery! After lunch and a break at Luolong Cattle Farm, take the electric bus back to the starting point and continue the short route. The short route is only 1.5 kilometers long, but it is all steps, so it is quite tiring to walk. You can adjust the speed according to your physical strength. #Daochengyading
