I went to Xuyan in Starhill Bukit Bintang with some friends today for lunch and wow what a meal. We got there early, about 10am, my friends picked their costumes, had their make up done and we got done about 11am and then we had some time to get some photos and videos before proceeding in the main hall for lunch and performance. The starters were already set in place before we go there, with our pot of tea and the performers came by to pour some cordials and the lunch starts with a video telling the story of the menu item we are gonna have and food is served, and before each menu item, there is a dance performance featuring Chinese dances, Indian dances and Malay dances with ethnic food coordinated with the show. Here’s a guide to a half-day itinerary (approximately 5 hours) to explore this destination and how to get there. We started our day by visiting Batu Caves in the morning, then took a taxi (Grab) for about 45 minutes to reach Genting Highlands 🚕. 🌟 For those using buses, you can take a direct bus from KL Sentral, which takes about an hour. Get off at the Awana Bus Terminal and transfer to the cable car to reach the summit. Make sure to book your bus tickets early, as seats for good time slots tend to fill up quickly! 12:00 - Create a Card for Casino Access To enter the casino, you need to present your passport and create a membership card. A $20 deposit is required per person. Only individuals aged 21 and above are allowed entry, and there’s a dress code (no shorts or sandals), but jeans and sneakers 👟 are acceptable. Admission is free, but large bags like backpacks are not allowed inside. 13:00 - Lunch Since the area is vast, we recommend dining at a restaurant near the casino. We had lunch at the local restaurant "Madam Kwan," which was incredibly delicious and highly recommended! 14:00 - Enjoy the Casino 🎰 We turned $20 into about $60! Playing just a little was enough for us 😊. 15:00 - Cable Car Ride From Genting Highlands Summit Station, take the "Awana SkyWay" gondola for about 10 minutes to the base. The gondola ends at Awana Station, which is directly connected to Genting Highlands Premium Outlets. The views were fantastic and made for a fun ride! 15:45 - Shopping at the Outlet 🛍️ Genting Highlands Premium Outlets features around 150 stores, including Coach, Nike, Adidas, and more. The area is very cool, so long sleeves are a must! 17:00 - Return to Kuala Lumpur by Taxi (Grab) There are also indoor and outdoor amusement parks and shopping malls, so if you have a full day, you can explore even more! Here are some spots I personally visited and loved 😊 ① Petronas Twin Towers The iconic symbol of Kuala Lumpur 🗼 Standing at 452 meters tall with 88 floors 🌟, you can enjoy breathtaking city views from the observation deck and the Skybridge connecting the two towers. The best time to visit is at sunset 👍. Popular times sell out quickly, so be sure to make a reservation! Even if you don’t go up, the fountain show in the park in front of the towers is stunning at night, so it’s worth a visit 🌃. ② THIRTY8 Afternoon Tea Located on the 38th floor of the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, this is a popular spot for afternoon tea 🫖. The highlight is the close-up view of the Twin Towers, which is truly exciting! They serve both savory and sweet items, along with tea, coffee, a celebratory drink, and even ice cream at the end 🍨. You can relax for an unlimited time between lunch and tea time, making it a great value ✨. For birthdays, they even scatter flowers for a special touch 🌹. When visiting, note that you go up to the 39th floor and then down one floor, so be mindful 😊. ③ Pavilion A large luxury shopping mall located in the heart of Bukit Bintang. With 550 shops including global brands, popular restaurants, and a food court, it’s quite vast, so plan your visit! Here are some of the best spots I visited in Kuala Lumpur that I highly recommend. 1-3. Putra Mosque A pink mosque built with natural granite. You can borrow a robe for free and explore the interior. While you can reach Putrajaya, where the mosque is located, by train or bus, using Grab is highly recommended. 4-6. Chinatown I visited a relatively new area that has been redeveloped. The popular and lively 'Kwai Chai Hong' alley, known for its street art, is a great photo spot. There are also deeper areas of Chinatown, and just a short walk can completely change the atmosphere, which is fascinating. Places I stopped by in Chinatown: 7-8. Bunn Choon Restaurant Famous for its egg tarts. You can enjoy dim sum inside the restaurant, and the egg tarts are creamy and crispy. This place is a favorite. 9. Pandan Republic Soft serve ice cream with a coconut flavor made from pandan leaves, commonly used in Malaysia. The yellow and blue exterior is also adorable. 10-11. Sri Maha Mariamman Temple A Hindu temple with stunningly colorful decorations. Each sculpture is incredibly intricate. 12-15. Batu Caves A Hindu temple located inside limestone caves. At the entrance stands the statue of Lord Murugan, and after climbing the 272 steep and narrow steps, the cave interior is truly mystical. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes for the climb. 16. Petronas Twin Towers An iconic landmark of Kuala Lumpur. When lit up, the diamond-like cuts of its elegant design become even more prominent and beautiful. 17-18. Sun Fong Bak Kut Teh Signature dishes include Bak Kut Teh and Dry Bak Kut Teh. They recommended eating it with chili sauce, which was delicious. The meat is incredibly tender and falls apart easily.

However, the stairs are quite steep, so be cautious and wear comfortable sneakers. 👟 ⚫︎ Inside the large limestone cave, you'll find a temple with a serene and majestic ambiance. ✨ ⚫︎ You'll also encounter plenty of wild monkeys. 🐵 Plan to spend about 2–3 hours ⏰ exploring the area. Element Kuala Lumpur Hotel A modern 4-star hotel located in the central part of the city. The city center is within arm's reach, and the sky feels even closer as the hotel is situated in the Ilham Tower, in the KLCC district, famous for the Petronas Twin Towers. Let me start with the pros: ➕ Breathtaking views, as the rooms start from the 40th floor; we stayed on the 52nd floor. ➕ Quick check-in, even at night, with coffee and drinks offered in the lobby. ➕ Perfectly balanced breakfasts: freshly squeezed juice, an egg and omelet station, fruits, nuts, desserts, and freshly brewed coffee. ➕ Modern interiors, including a spacious bathroom, wardrobe, and a mini-kitchen with a microwave. ➕ Ample space, providing a sense of freedom and comfort. ➕ Beds with cloud-like soft mattresses and comfortable pillows. ➕ Good air circulation, no stuffiness. ➕ Free shuttle service to nearby attractions. ➕ Fitness center with modern equipment. Honestly, I couldn't find any cons, except: ➖ The spacious rooftop pool with a panoramic city view was closed during our stay. But this was more of a coincidence. Room service is quick, the menu is affordable, and the nightly rate is more than reasonable. The hotel is conveniently located near the city's main tourist attractions and business centers. Nearby are the famous Petronas Towers, Tun Abdul Razak Lake Park, and the Suria KLCC shopping complex. I highly recommend it and would choose it again if given the chance.

About flights: Check AirAsia’s annual promotions, but flights from Shanghai usually depart at midnight. 2. About accommodation: The hotel was chosen after comparing prices on major apps. We stayed at Four Points by Sheraton for over 600 RMB per night, but split among three people it was reasonable. I was worried about not being allowed three people in one room, but only two checked in to avoid issues. Still, it’s best to check the booking policy when reserving, or you can follow my example. 3. About food: Local restaurants in Kuala Lumpur use chili that has a spicy kick, which might take some time to get used to. 4. About transportation: We mostly took taxis or walked around the city. Splitting the fare among three people was affordable. I recommend using Grab for taxis. You can mark your desired attractions on Google Maps for easy searching. 5. About attractions: For places like the Pink Mosque and the Blue Mosque, we chose to visit one famous one since the difference is minor (just my opinion). Choose paid attractions based on your preference.

The Batu Caves in northern Kuala Lumpur, a Hindu sacred site, recently seemed to be celebrating an Indian festival, attracting many devotees. Upon entering the main gate, you can see from afar the golden Hindu war god statue and the rainbow-colored steps beside it, perfect for photo ops p1-2. The 272 steps aren’t that hard to climb. At the top, there is a huge cavern inside the mountain with a Hindu temple; I forgot to take photos inside p3. Then, after climbing another small rainbow-colored staircase, you reach the hilltop Hindu temple, which is very small and visible at a glance. Looking up, you see the sky pit p4. Along the way, there are monkeys everywhere. They are eating bananas, apples, biscuits, chips, cakes, and milk fed by humans. Some poor ones are so hungry they eat fresh flowers (offerings from devotees) p5-6. Descended at 3 PM; at the base of the steps, there is also a Hindu temple where I took off my slippers and visited for 5 minutes. Then I looked for the ticket booth for the cave exploration. The guide said it was at the start of the rainbow steps, with a 3:30 PM session costing 35 MYR for an hour, including a headlamp to explore the primitive cave. Unfortunately, after searching and asking around, I gave up at 3:30 PM. The second stop was to check in at the Petronas Twin Towers. Took a taxi to KLCC Park and took photos of the Twin Towers from various spots p7. At 5:30 PM, took a taxi to exchange TRX, first visited the Pop Mart on the basement level p8, then went to Seibu to buy some snacks.

This hotel truly exceeded my expectations. Its location is very strategic in the Bukit Bintang area. It's a 5-10 minute walk to TRX, Pavilion KL, and Lot 10. Had a lovely staycation at Doubletree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur just before Christmas and I totally loved the stay. We got an excutive king room with lounge access and pretty much stayed in throughtout the stay. Our check in was a breeze at the Executive Lounge, got to enjoy some snacks before going to our room. The room is spacious with a modern bathroom. The bed was comfortable with their 4 large pillows. After settling in, it was time to have our evening cocktail at the lounge before going down to Tosca for an amazing Italian dinner. Next morning was a full breakfast buffet at Makan Kitchen followed by a room service lunch in the room. Dinner, we went for their International Buffet before a breakfast at the lounge before checking out.
