Recommended Jiaoxi snacks 🏆: 1️⃣ Zhenghao Fresh Meat Xiaolongbao (not your typical fresh meat xiaolongbao❗) A basket of 10 juicy xiaolongbao is NT$100 Hot and Sour Soup is NT$35 Black tea, milk tea, and soy milk are all NT$20 (you can get them from the refrigerator after ordering and paying). I can't fault any of their food! The hot and sour soup is better than Banfang Yunji's 🤣 and the bowls aren't too small. The xiaolongbao broth is also incredibly delicious (see cover for details). The restaurant specializes in xiaolongbao: thin wrappers, generous fillings, and juicy fillings. Local Yilan residents recommend it because of the scallion aroma. If the weather is hot, enjoy a cup of black tea, milk tea, or soy milk. I personally find the milk tea a bit sweet, but within acceptable limits. Their signature dish is, of course, the xiaolongbao! We visited twice. We were told the hot and sour soup was sold out when we arrived at 5 PM on the first day. 😭 The line had already started when we arrived around noon the next day, and we finally got our fill! The line was incredibly long by the time we finished eating, but luckily we managed to get in before 12 PM. 😁 📍Address: No. 122, Ren'ai Road, Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County 2️⃣ Wu Ji Peanut Roll Ice Cream 😋 Traditional and delicious (next to Ke's Scallion Pancakes! Easy to spot. 😆) This place also had a long line, but luckily we got in within 10 minutes. They grind their peanuts on-site and serve them with cilantro. Be sure to ask for extra cilantro; it tastes the best that way. 👍 They don't cut corners, and the ice cream is two scoops full of flavor. For 50 yuan, it's a steal, beating out many Taipei night markets where you only get one scoop of peanut ice cream, which isn't tasty, and costs 60 yuan! Because it was so hot eating outside would risk heatstroke, customers who bought peanut ice cream rolls were smart enough to eat inside the claw machine shop (it has air conditioning!). 📍Address: No. 128, Section 4, Jiaoxi Road, Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County 3️⃣ Taiyi Crispy Pork Belly How can you miss out on this crispy pork belly with only 550g of pork per kilogram? 😋 We opted for the medium combo meal for two for NT$200, which comes with a free serving of daikon radish (pomelo-flavored pickled radish). The crispy texture was so crunchy, and the delicious aroma and flavor of the crispy pork 🥩 spread throughout my mouth, making me drool! I still remember Fule Hotpot being around since I was in high school. A while ago, I went there on a whim. The line stretched out the door. The service was excellent, with snack packs provided. They also told us we could get drinks and soft serve ice cream inside if we were thirsty while waiting. There were also outdoor seating options. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and they really know how to run a business. 👍 No wonder customers are so willing to wait for their meal!❗ Today, I had a great meal with my husband. He ordered the surf and turf hotpot. I'm not picky about meat; I sometimes order pork and sometimes beef for hotpot, so today we decided to have the popular beef hotpot.❗ 🍲Popular Beef Hotpot 300 🍲Popular Beef Hotpot (choose one meat: beef, lamb, pork, or chicken) 650 I chose the braised pork rice for my main. There was no extra charge for the egg, and no 10% service charge either. It was a great experience. Some hotpot restaurants require you to order the egg separately. The surf and turf hotpot was a generous spread, featuring salmon, sea bream, clams, scallops, squid paste (slippery), and fresh oysters, along with two slices of ginger. It was an all-you-can-eat experience 🤣🤣🤣 Fuluo's dish also included spare ribs, something not found at many hot pot restaurants. The buffet offered all-you-can-eat kimchi, milk tea (not too sweet, thankfully❗), barley tea, and lemonade. The soft serve ice cream 🍦 came in strawberry and vanilla flavors, which surprisingly paired well. 😋 Ice cream was also available. If you're looking for breakfast in Taipei near Ximending, I highly recommend Gan Mei Alley! 🤍 The signature dish here is their xiao long bao! These xiao long bao have thin dough, juicy broth, and a crispy base. Absolutely delicious! We highly recommend ordering them; every table will have one! ✨ The turnip cakes, made from fried radish, are also delicious. We also ordered another dish, a wrapper made from egg and pork, filled with Taiwanese-style kimchi. It was also delicious. We ordered soy milk, which was okay, though the bean flavor was a bit strong. The shop claims that the soy milk is non-GMO. Overall, it's a good breakfast. We chose the spicy pork bone hotpot, with various spiciness levels: mild, medium, and hot. The base price for the spicy hot pot is NT$320 for 1-2 people, and NT$360 for 3-4 people. The broth is unique and the serving method is novel. The spicy broth is full of flavor. If it's too spicy, ask the waiter for more broth to gradually dilute the spiciness. 🌟Must-order ingredients: Duck blood NT$80 (highly recommended). The spicy and nutty flavor melts into your mouth like a real treat. Aside from the à la carte meat and seafood, all other ingredients are skewered on bamboo sticks (one of our main draws). The National Taiwan Museum complex includes the Land Bank Exhibition Hall (Paleontology Museum), the Main Building, and the Nanmen Branch. If you want to see dinosaur fossils in the Taiwan Museum, you need to visit the Land Bank Exhibition Hall! That's right! This museum was formerly the Land Bank, and the exhibition hall is divided into three sections: the Paleontology Zone (Dinosaurs), the Bank History Zone, and the Heritage Restoration Zone. The Bank History Zone showcases rare and valuable historical artifacts such as early bank ledgers, land surveying instruments, land mortgage bonds, and financial machinery. You can even step into the 'vault' for a visit! The Paleontology Zone, of course, is a favorite among children, featuring realistic dinosaur fossils along with educational text and photo explanations. These three zones are essentially permanent exhibitions, making it a perfect destination for families—guaranteed fun for both kids and adults!

The "Waterworks Museum" is located in Gongguan, Taipei City, and boasts a history of over a hundred years. Inside, the museum features large-scale equipment that provides an in-depth understanding of the origins and operational processes of tap water, making it highly educational. The museum's architecture is in the Baroque style, and it occasionally serves as a venue for newlyweds to take wedding photos. On the other side of the park is a water park, but unfortunately, it was closed on the day of our visit.

📍Taipei Astronomical Science Education Center (Shilin Astronomical Museum) This is absolutely a place where you can spend the whole day. Affordable tickets, fully indoor, and air-conditioned—a perfect rainy day backup spot where you can also gain new knowledge! Right at the entrance, you'll see a long queue for the Cosmic Adventure Train (additional ticket required, General $70/Discount $35). Be prepared for the crowds, especially on weekends~ XD This time, we purchased a combo ticket for the Science Education Center and the Astronomical Museum on Trip.com. We visited the Science Education Center first and then headed to the Astronomical Museum. Inside, we explored lunar exploration, space knowledge, planetary orbits, the relative movements of the Sun, Earth, and Moon, the reasons for polar day and night, Earth's seasonal changes, and more. It was truly enriching. On the 2nd floor, you can capture the most beautiful views of the Milky Way and the Solar System. There's also a children's space play area (with specific opening/playtime restrictions). What's special is the free special exhibition before entering the ticketed area: 2025 "Encounter Aurora – A Guide to Chasing the Northern Lights" Exhibition Dates: 2025/4/2 to 10/12. If you can't travel to see the aurora in person, this is a great alternative to enjoy and take photos while learning all about the aurora! Good places to visit in March 2025! You can't miss the night market when you go to Taiwan. Although the Mong Kok Night Market is not the biggest, it doesn't have that much crowd, and the atmosphere is great! It's comfortable to walk, you don't have to sweat all over🤪 And you can also go to Longshan Temple, two attractions in one place! The night market has a wide variety of food, and the price is very affordable👍 Located near the MRT 🚝Longshan Temple Station, a few minutes walk from the station, very convenient transportation! You must try the specialties of Mong Kok Night Market: Sweet and Spicy, Ai Yu Ice, Peanut Roll Ice Cream, French Bread, etc., each is a Taiwanese classic! There are also signature small pastries and a variety of noodles, perfect for noodle lovers! Children's favorite pinball machines can also be found. A chic hotel near Ximending. We booked a room for 3,940 baht per night, excluding breakfast (they offer a hot pot buffet, but it wasn't included in our booking. If you want to eat it, you can purchase it separately). Our room was for four people, with a private bathroom and complete amenities. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We arrived at 10 a.m. and couldn't check in yet, so we left our bags first. The staff gave us a luggage storage slip and placed them in the storage area in the lobby. When we checked in (we hadn't returned yet), they took our bags up to our room. After returning from sightseeing, we checked in, received our key card, and went straight to our room. 😊 There are convenience stores and restaurants nearby. On our return day, we checked out at noon and left our bags there, as we had a late flight, so we wanted to go sightseeing first. They gave us another luggage storage slip and put our bags in the luggage storage room. We were very impressed with the place, as they cleaned every day. We picked up a bunch of stuffed animals and piled them up. When we returned to our room, they arranged them neatly. They also replaced the towels and hair dryers every day. For anyone looking for a place to stay in Taipei, I highly recommend this place. If I ever have the chance to visit Taipei again, I'll definitely stay here again. I love it! 😆 P.S. 1: The hotel is quite a walk from Ximen Station (about 10-15 minutes). Carrying large luggage might be a bit of a hassle. P.S. 2: They have rooms of various sizes, starting from single rooms. Advance bookings are more affordable. We booked closer to the arrival date, which was a bit pricey. P.S. 3: The bunk beds are very high. There's a picture of my sister raising her hand. She's 170 cm tall, but she's still much shorter than the bed. It's quite tiring to climb up and down. Located a few minutes' walk from Taipei's Nanjing Fuxing Station is a rice dumpling shop called "Wang Ji Fucheng Rouzong." The rice dumplings are covered in a slightly sweet filling and are quite large. You order and pay at the entrance, then enter the shop. It's open, with no doors, but it's cool. There are free-to-use condiments behind the register, but since it was my first time, I went simple and didn't change the flavor. An online search suggested that cilantro was available for unlimited serving, but it wasn't available when I visited. However, other customers were adding cilantro to their rice dumplings, so maybe they'll add it if you ask when ordering. The winter melon and fish ball soup was also very delicious. The chopped vegetables, which I think were celery, were a great secret ingredient. This restaurant makes you feel like you're at home. While $300 for a latte is definitely not cheap, the ambiance is stunning the moment we walk in! The atmosphere makes you feel like you've been transported to Europe—perfect for photo ops!📸 The Red Heart Guacamole I ordered was sour and sweet, with a rich, layered flavor.
