Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is widely considered the "architecture of Indian Muslim culture". Its design combines the styles of Indian architecture and Persian architecture and is considered the most exquisite example of Mughal architecture. Construction of the Taj Mahal began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, using thousands of craftsmen and costing a lot of money. [The design and construction of the Taj Mahal was entrusted to a team of architects, directed by Shah Jahan, which included Mir Abd-ul Karim, Makramat Khan Architects such as Makramat Khan and Ustad Ahmed Lahori. Among them, the Persian architect Lahori is generally regarded as the chief designer. In 1983, UNESCO listed the Taj Mahal as a World Heritage Site, calling it "a treasure of Indian Muslim art" and "one of the world heritage masterpieces that amazes the world."
