It's a perfect blend of history and local charm! · ------------------- ✨ Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive at Fukuoka Airport, take a private transfer to the hotel, and enjoy some free time to rest. Day 2: Mount Aso > Kusasenri-ga-hama > Aso Volcano Museum > Aso Shrine > Kurokawa Onsen Immerse yourself in volcanic landscapes and ancient Japanese shrines, then relax in the hot springs. Day 3: Shiraito Falls > Raizan Sennyoji Temple > Sakurai Futamigaura Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks) > Keya Cave > Fukuoka Tower > Momochi Seaside Park Visit popular coastal spots and historic temples, and enjoy the New Year light show at Fukuoka Tower in the evening. Day 4-5: Free day in Fukuoka > Private transfer to the airport for your return flight. Explore local Fukuoka food and shops at your own pace to wrap up your trip. · ------------------- Recommended Attractions: 1. Mount Aso ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Address: Takawara, Aso, Kumamoto 869-2223, Japan Opening hours: March 20–October 31, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM Duration: 3–5 hours Standing on the edge of one of the world's largest calderas, you can see the unique scenery of Mount Nakadake, hike through grasslands, and experience traditional local grazing culture. A paradise for nature lovers! 2. Fukuoka Tower ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Address: 2-3-26 Momochihama, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka Opening hours: July 1–December 31, 9:30 AM–10:00 PM Duration: 1–2 hours The entire tower is covered in over 8,000 mirrors. It looks stunning when lit up at night. During holidays, there are limited-time light shows and interactive activities—perfect for photos! · ------------------- ✨ Packing List: 📄 First, bring your Japan tourist visa, passport, and copies, as well as your flight and hotel booking confirmations, which you'll need for customs and check-in. 🔌 Prepare a travel adapter and a power bank. Japan uses two-pin flat plugs. Make sure your power bank is under 20,000 mAh. 👚 It's still hot in Japan in September, so bring lightweight sun-protective clothing and breathable outfits, plus a light jacket for air-conditioned indoors. 💊 Bring common stomach and cold medicines, as well as mosquito repellent, as there are many bugs at tourist sites. Carrying some cash is also more convenient. · ------------------- If you're planning a group tour to Japan, save this post! Feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section. 😘

Visiting Mount Aso in Kumamoto, Japan, is an experience that makes you realise just how powerful and beautiful nature can be. This is not an ordinary mountain – it is one of the world’s largest volcanic calderas, with dramatic landscapes, vast green fields, volcanic smoke, and breathtaking panoramic views.

What impressed me most was the incredible contrast between the peaceful countryside and the raw volcanic landscape. Everywhere you look, there is something spectacular: endless grasslands, rolling hills, distant mountains, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature on a completely different scale.

One of the highlights of the area is Kusasenri Grassland. Walking across this beautiful open landscape, with horses grazing in the distance and mountains surrounding the horizon, feels almost unreal. It is a perfect place to take photographs, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and simply appreciate the scenery.

Another fascinating stop is the Aso Volcano Museum, where you can learn about the geological history of the volcano and understand the incredible forces that shaped this region.

My personal travel tips:

· Rent a car if possible. Having your own transportation makes exploring the Aso region much easier.
· Visit Kusasenri and allow yourself enough time to enjoy the scenery rather than rushing through.
· Wear comfortable walking shoes, as some areas have uneven volcanic terrain.
· Bring a jacket, even on sunny days. The weather can be quite different at higher elevations.
· Check the volcanic alert level and crater access information before your visit. Mount Aso is an active volcano, and access restrictions can change.
· Never cross safety barriers or enter restricted areas.
· Keep a safe distance from grazing horses and respect the surrounding nature.
· Bring some snacks and water, especially if you plan to explore the walking trails.

Important note for travellers: The Nakadake crater access has been subject to restrictions due to volcanic activity. As of the latest information available for November 2026, Kusasenri remains accessible, while the crater area is restricted. Always check the official updates before travelling.
