5 days and 4 nights in Baoding, only 500 per person for a great time! The joy of refreshed spending habits—who understands it

Just got back from Baoding, and my wallet is still full after having so much fun! Turns out traveling doesn’t have to break the bank~ Trip highlights: The Zhili Governor’s Office is a must-visit! This Qing dynasty official residence with red walls and gray tiles offers 2 hours of exploration for just 15 yuan. You can also enjoy free guided tours and touch the “Gong Sheng Ming” archway, instantly transporting you back to the officialdom of a century ago. The ancient Lotus Pond hides the delicate charm of Jiangnan gardens. For only 10 yuan, you can see the whole pond full of lotus flowers (especially beautiful in summer). Taking photos in the pavilions and towers with a traditional style is amazing—no filter needed! Besides its revolutionary history, Langya Mountain’s glass walkway at the summit is thrilling. Tickets plus cable car cost only 80 yuan. Standing there, looking at the endless mountains, the breeze blows all your worries away~ Trip plan: Day 1: Zhili Governor’s Office → Ancient Lotus Pond → Bell Tower night market Spend the morning exploring the Governor’s Office to learn history, take beautiful photos at Lotus Pond in the afternoon, and enjoy snacks at the Bell Tower night market in the evening. Everything is within walking distance, super convenient. Day 2: Langya Mountain day trip Take the bus from the station in the morning (20 yuan direct), hike the mountain and visit the memorial hall, then return in the afternoon just in time. Day 3: Ranzhuang Tunnel Warfare Site → Baoding Army Officer School former site The tunnel warfare site is free! Crawl through the tunnels to experience the wisdom of the past. The officer school costs 10 yuan and lets you feel the atmosphere of a famous military academy. Food recommendations: Don’t miss the freshly baked donkey meat sandwich! The crust is crispy to the point of falling apart, the donkey meat is tender, and adding stewed jelly only costs 8 yuan each. Huai Mao pickled vegetables with white porridge make a savory and appetizing breakfast for just 5 yuan. At the Bell Tower night market, 30 fried skewers cost 10 yuan. Starch sausage and chicken strips are covered in sauce—perfect for eating while walking. Travel tips: Baoding buses cost 1 yuan to ride to the end, and most attractions are directly accessible. Taxi starting fare is 8 yuan, which is also affordable. The Lotus Pond is crowded during the summer lotus season, so it’s best to go in the morning. Wear comfortable shoes for hiking Langya Mountain, and bring a light jacket because it’s windy at the top. Many attractions offer discounts for students and seniors, so remember to bring your ID!
