London to Cambridge Day Trip Guide

I spontaneously decided to visit Cambridge while exploring London. I found trains to and from Cambridge from both King's Cross and Liverpool Street. Choose whichever is closest to your accommodation. I highly recommend buying an Open Ticket (P2). Departure and return times are flexible. You can board any train operated by the same company. ⚠️ Remember to scan your QR code when entering and exiting the station. At Cambridge station, you can buy a red apple at the M&S on your right. It's about a 20-minute walk to the first stop. You can take the U1 train directly from Stop 8 after exiting the station. My itinerary was: 1️⃣ Fitzwilliam Museum: Highly recommended! 👍🏻 Completely free and has a huge collection. I personally loved the art exhibition area; I spent a long time there. It's also great for taking photos. 2️⃣ Corpus Clock: Nicknamed "The Time Eater," it features a giant grasshopper. 3️⃣ Jack's Gelato: Highly recommended! 👍🏻 Always long queues, and many flavors. Single ball £2.90, that's what I chose. 4️⃣King’s Collage Tickets required, can be bought online in advance. 🇬🇧Students get a discount. 5️⃣Newton's Apple Tree 🔍 Newton's Apple Tree is basically a themed attraction. The apples I bought at M&S ​​came in handy. 6️⃣Boat Cruise Highly recommended! 👍🏻 There are two boarding points: the Mathematical Bridge and Quay Side. However, I suggest booking online in advance; it's much cheaper. The experiences are similar across several companies, so just choose the cheapest one. If you buy tickets on-site, I asked three places and managed to get it down to £18. The experience is good; they explained things to us throughout the cruise. If you want to take photos, try to sit facing your companions. The boat returns the same way after reaching the end, so you won't have a situation where you can take photos from one side but not the other. Plus, there's plenty of time.
