Cambridge is a truly beautiful city. It is famous for its very old history and its world-class university. The buildings look like they are from a movie because they are made of grand stone with tall towers. A great part of being there is walking past the old colleges and seeing the amazing architecture that has been there for hundreds of years. One of the best things to do is punting on the River Cam. Punting is when you sit in a flat boat while someone pushes it with a long pole. It is a very peaceful way to see the city from the water. You get to float under famous bridges and see the beautiful gardens of the colleges that you cannot see from the road. The Market Square is the heart of the city and a dream for food lovers. It is an open-air market where you can find delicious food from all over the world in one place. You can get amazing East Asian food, such as Chinese dumplings and Japanese street food. From Europe, there are delicious Spanish paellas and fresh wraps, and you can also find very tasty Indian food. It is the perfect spot to grab a quick lunch while exploring. For a person who loves food, there is a lot of variety in the city beyond the market too. There are many great places to eat, especially if you like south Asian , Italian , East Asian flavors. There are many excellent Chinese, Japanese, and Korean restaurants. Whether you want a hot bowl of ramen, fresh sushi, or spicy Korean chicken, it is all within a short walk of the city centre. Getting around Cambridge is very easy because the city is built for travelers. Most people choose to cycle because there are bike paths everywhere. If you prefer the bus, the bus runs frequently and takes people right to the main sights. For those coming from another city, the train station is large and has fast connections to London and other areas. When staying in Cambridge, the best areas are near the train station or in the city centre. Staying near the station is convenient because there are many new hotels and it is easy to catch a bus or walk into town. Staying in the heart of the city puts you right next to the shops and the historic colleges. It is a wonderful place to explore on foot and eat through the streets. #citydaytours #travel2026 #travel #thingstodo #localfood #cambridge #england #britain #unitedkingdom #familytravel

🚣Punting on the River Cam 😍

Want to experience the true magic of Cambridge? Skip the walking tours for an hour and get on the water.

It is an incredibly inspiring journey. As you drift lazily down the River Cam along the famous "Backs," you get an exclusive, water-level view of Cambridge's most prestigious colleges. You will glide right beneath the iconic Mathematical Bridge and look up at the breathtaking, Gothic architecture of King’s College Chapel.

It feels less like a simple boat ride and more like stepping straight into a living poetry book. Peaceful, timeless, and completely unforgettable—this is an absolute must-do for your UK bucket list! ✨
