Haikou Beach Family Trip

A few days of leisure in Haikou, felt that other attractions were not surprising, but Hainan is indeed Hainan, and checking in at the three beaches in Haikou was still very pleasant. 1. Baishamen Beach. Before going to Baishamen, we went to the Hainan Provincial Museum. Apart from the shipwreck model, there were no highlights, not as good as museums in other places. But Hainan is too hot, suitable for taking kids out during the day. Arrived at Baishamen Beach in the evening, just in time for the sunset, which was beautiful. The sunset was slanting, and with an umbrella, you could cast a large shadow, one umbrella was enough for sun protection. Many people were swimming by the sea, and there was a small area surrounded by a few large stones, very safe for small children. The sand was fine, the sea was calm, the sunset was beautiful, and there were many locals. Across the road to the park, there were toilets and foot-washing areas, old but free. The price of small buckets and shovels was reasonable, regretted not buying them at the time... 2. Holiday Beach. We specifically chose a hotel by the sea for Holiday Beach, making it very convenient to go to the beach, but there were no shops around. It took ten minutes to walk to find a place to buy affordable water and food. The hotel had them, but at a higher price 💰. Apart from the expensive food and drinks, the hotel was nice, with hot springs, fish therapy, swimming, very comfortable. You can't see the sunset at Holiday Beach, just swim in the evening. There were many small fish in the sea, children had fun swimming and catching fish. The facilities around were more complete and newer than Baishamen Beach, but also more expensive. Knowing the prices at Baishamen, we reluctantly bought small shovels and buckets . Had dinner at a seaside food stall, not expensive. This place is suitable for watching the sunrise, pay attention to the time, the sun rises from the sea in two or three minutes. My literary skills are not enough, so I'll skip 100 words here (to express the beautiful sunrise). Checked the tide table (must go when the tide is low), Holiday Beach is great for catching the sea. Very suitable for beginners and children, not for eating, but for picking. No special equipment needed, no sharp reefs, just bring small shovels and buckets for the kids, near the non-swimming area by the pier. The beach was full of small shells, small conchs, small hermit crabs, small crabs, and sea anemones. With a shovel, you could dig out crabs, mantis shrimps, shells, etc. Near the pier, local fishermen cast nets, and there were many unwanted catches. We picked up small ribbonfish, small sharks 🦈 (the most exciting find), and the pier pillars were full of small oysters and mussels. Saw many unknown things in the fishermen's nets, better not touch them , just look. Of course, if you want to eat, don't choose here, because most are mini-sized. Maybe that's why there is no information or guides online about catching the sea here, no one except fishermen . We had the beach to ourselves, felt super great, both adults and kids had a whole day of fun... 3. Jinsha Bay Beach. The most beautiful sunset in Haikou (don't choose here for sunrise), the sunset is right in front of the beach, the most photogenic of the three beaches. Of course, hats and umbrellas are useless here, just use sunscreen and go later. The sand here was not as fine as the other two beaches, the waves were big, kids enjoyed sitting by the beach being hit by the waves , remind them to be safe. Met many people with professional equipment taking photos, and wedding photography teams. The sunset and waves were really photogenic. Remember to use the props by the beach, the swing must be swung, the highest point is the most photogenic . Tents, coconut trees, there was a path between the trees near the camping area, great for taking sunset photos from a distance. The sea was not glassy, but you could see the layers, clearer than Baishamen and Holiday Beach. Walking to the side of the swimming area, there were many broken oyster shells on the beach, I strongly suspect you could catch the sea here too, but too tired, didn't get up, couldn't confirm. 4. Others. Just play at the beaches in Haikou, none will disappoint. As for other attractions... whatever. Jinsha Bay is very close to Xin Hai Port, kids who haven't been on a boat wanted to experience it, took a cross-sea ferry, seriously counted how many cars were loaded onto the boat, lost count in the end... 😄 Haikou hotels and homestays are very good, reasonably priced. Taxis are very convenient, choose the cheapest option and you can get a ride immediately, no need to select multiple options like in other cities, no need.
