Quanzhou·Huian Luoyang Bridge

Huian Luoyang Bridge, formerly known as "Wan'an Bridge", was built during the Northern Song Dynasty and is the oldest existing sea-crossing beam stone bridge in China. It is also one of the more low-key attractions in Quanzhou. You can reach Wan'an Village on the east side of the bridge by taking a bus from the prefectural city, where there is a shrine built for Cai Xiang, the builder of the bridge. As a court official who served the country and the people, he was truly a loyal and righteous person. In addition, the village also has the Ciji Palace and a museum, where you can get a glimpse of the cultural heritage of Luoyang Bridge. The stone bridge is very long, with sculptures and inscriptions on top, and mangrove wetlands full of small crabs and birds below, while the bridge's foundation is reinforced with cultivated oysters. Walking on the uneven stone bridge, following the steps of the ancients, and imagining the daily life of Quanzhou people who farmed and did business in that era, it feels as if you are there.
