#cherryblossom2024 Kamakura Hasedera, especially in July, is a picturesque sanctuary that mesmerizes visitors. The tranquil ponds teeming with dragonflies and blooming lotus flowers create a serene ambiance. Exploring the mystical cave evokes a sense of wonder. The breathtaking view of the ocean is a delightful bonus. The towering Kannon statue, radiating serenity, adds a spiritual touch. Undoubtedly, Hasedera is among my favorite temples in Kamakura, captivating with its natural beauty and spiritual aura.

Hasedera Temple is a typical Japanese rock garden. This temple is well-known for its statutes of Bodhisattva. A standing figure of Bodhisattva with 11 faces can be found here. This is also the largest wooden figure of Bodhisattva in Japan. Standing on the small platform, you can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the local private houses. The temple has its face to the ocean and back to the mountain, providing you with a lovely view. Of course, this is also a good place to admire sakura and maple leaves.

It is a grand piece of Japanese history and decorative to the eye. It is top of the list for me within Kamakura. Insider tip is to walk up around the back and also check out the views of the beach and Mt Fuji in the background. Inside is interesting and you can see artwork of heaven and hell on each wall as well statues and informative religious items. The architecture of the temples is stunning. The ponds and gardens attract some beautiful wildlife including some very large red and blue dragonflies as well as cicadas. The viewing platform has spectacular views across Kamakura. There is also a cave temple that was really interesting. The overall feeling of calm and tranquility exudes throughout the temple complex. Definitely worth a visit if in Kamakura or Tokyo. #givethanks #givethanks
