Westin Miyako Kyoto - A hotel with a garden|||I went to Japan in June last year and stayed in Kyoto for two days. I stayed at the Westin (near Nanzenji Temple). The overall experience was very good, except for the long walks. 🚗Transportation: It is 4.4 km from Kyoto Station, about 20 minutes by subway/light rail. There is a shuttle bus from the hotel at Kyoto Station. The hotel has a dedicated luggage storage area, so you can store your luggage directly at the station, and it will be delivered to the hotel. You can also leave your luggage at the front desk when you check out, and it will be delivered to Kyoto Station, so you don't have to carry it around. Please note that the shuttle bus and luggage storage are in two different places, as shown in the picture, so don't go to the wrong place. You can use Google Maps❌ The hotel has a shuttle bus every half hour, which goes to Nijo, Sanjo (near Kamo River), and Kyoto Station. The downside is that it starts late (after 10 am), so it's not very convenient if you leave early. The nearest subway and bus stops to the main attractions are 500 meters away. 🏠Room: We booked two nights with a voucher, which was a good deal. The room was spacious, about 38 square meters. The hygiene was very good, as is typical of Japanese hotels. The bedding was very comfortable, with a custom-made Simmons and Westin mattress, which gave me a good night's sleep. I even tried to find the same one in a mall later. ⛰️Facilities: The hotel is built on a mountain, and it is one of the best hotels in terms of scenery, except for wild luxury hotels like Capella Ubud. You can go to the rooftop garden by going up the stairs from the hotel building (4th or 5th floor?). It's also nice to walk around at night. The garden of Kasuien (Japanese-style suite) is open to hotel guests, and you can often see Japanese couples taking wedding photos there. The garden and torii courtyard are great for a morning hike and a natural oxygen bar. I recommend spending half a day exploring the hotel. 🥯Dining: Breakfast is a choice of traditional Japanese or buffet. I recommend the buffet, which has all the traditional Japanese dishes. The breakfast is varied, with small and delicate Japanese-style portions. The taste is not bad, and I personally like the Japanese curry, tofu, and eggs. 🧑🏻‍🦱Service: The overall service attitude is good, but the reliability is not. There was a restaurant we wanted to book that couldn't be booked on Google Maps. We reminded them by email and on the day of arrival, but the next day we found out that the front desk had completely forgotten. They apologized politely, but it wasn't very reliable. Overall, it's a good hotel for a slow-paced vacation, but I don't recommend it for a fast-paced trip or for people who don't like staying in hotels. Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture
