The Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan, is one of the four major grottoes in China. The grottoes were excavated during the Northern Wei Dynasty and were continuously built over more than 10 dynasties, spanning over 1,400 years. Currently, there are 2,345 caves and niches, with over 110,000 statues. A large amount of painting was used during construction. The smallest niche inside is only 2 centimeters, while the tallest is 17.4 meters.
