When visiting Xishuangbanna, one must check out the Zongfo Temple

Zongfo Temple in Xishuangbanna is located next to Manting Park in Jinghong City. According to historical records, over a thousand years ago, the Mengle Palace of Xishuangbanna was built near the present-day Yunjinghong Street Office Manduo Village in the Mangge Community. At that time, this area was an important political district of Xishuangbanna. As for the temples, this region had several, including Wazai, Wazhangpei, Walongmeng, and Wazhuangde temples. Due to wars, Wazai, Wazhangpei, and Walongmeng temples were relocated, leaving only the Wazhuangde Temple to serve the Buddhist followers north of the Jinghong River for a long time, until the Dai villages north of the Jinghong River built their own temples, leading to the gradual decline of Wazhuangde Temple. The site still retains the stone bases of the pillars of the Wazhuangde Temple's main hall. Wazhuangde Temple was one of the important temples for the Dai Le followers in Xishuangbanna, built for the devout Buddhists to worship the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and to pray for the protection of the Buddha's teachings for the people within its jurisdiction, seeking peace in the world and blessings for the people. It is currently open to the public for free, and those interested are welcome to visit.
