Loved the character of the building. Beautiful setting. Staff are so friendly & helpful. Special mention for Michael in the bar. What a star. All the staff excelled themselves & couldn’t do more for us. Food is absolutely amazing. Looks stunning on the plate & tastes as good as it looks especially the fish & game. Nice staff and dinner was nice but breakfast was poor and you helped yourself from it laid out in hall. Rooms were outdated and cobwebs everywhere. Windows in main house we're filthy and couldn't see out in sunlight. Furniture outside was dirty and looked as if it would fall to pieces. Clearly hanging on for dear life before demolition. Sad old hotel that was once excellent. Would never stay again and would suggest unless you are over 70 and going back for a trip down memory lane you avoid it at all cost. They sell red wine at £34 a bottle which has a screw top! Pretentious but naff. Sorry Ballathie, I would have asked for a discount but feel sorry for the staff who are clearly embarrassed. Trip typeHoliday · Couple Na5/54 months ago on  Google The hotel is beautiful and surrounded by stunning views of garden and lake. We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist. We stayed in Sports man Lodge. It is a separate building from the main one so get the key and then drive there would be the best option. The room is spacious, clean and with all the accessories we need, like hair dryer and mirrors. The floor is a bit squeaky and the design of the room is old fashion. But this isn’t our top priority because it is very quiet at night and we had a great night of sleep. We had the breakfast included and it is the best thing of the hotel out of all amazing features! The food was served as a Buffett style but the quality of the food is great! I love the bacon, pork sausage and the scramble egg. It is so tasty and the scrambled egg is super smooth and soft. They also serve good coffee and fresh fruits for breakfast. All Staff are very attentive and make you feel like at home. After the breakfast, we spent some time exploring the back garden of the hotel and had a walk along the lake.
