The grand pagoda of Roi Et

The Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol, also known as "The Great, Victorious, and Auspicious Pagoda," is Thailand's largest chedi (pagoda). It's on the grounds of Wat Pha Namthip Thep Prasit Vararam, a temple complex in Roi Et province, rural Thailand. This massive chedi is 101 meters long, 101 meters wide, and 101 meters high, and it was constructed on a plot of 101 Rai (about 40 acres). The number 101 is derived from the name of the province in which it is located, Roi Et, which translates to 101 in Thai. Because relics of the Buddha are kept in the top of the pagoda, the chedi, also known as Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkhon, is highly regarded in Roi Et province. #ancientlandmark#ancientarchitecture#historicculture#summervacation#hikingtrails#urbanexplorer
