Shenyang Marriott Hotel: The ideal choice for a quality trip In 1999, the first Marriott Hotel in mainland China opened in Shenyang. In late 2020, Marriott returned to Shenyang, and Shenyang Marriott Hotel opened. Last weekend, I used a Shenyang cultural tourism voucher to stay at this hotel for the great price of CNY 495. The hotel is conveniently located next to Shenyang North Railway Station, which is very convenient for transfer passengers. Although it is about a 10-minute walk from the subway station, it is also convenient to drive there. However, the parking lot is not well planned, the signs are not clear, there are not enough parking spaces, and the driving lanes are full of parked cars. When you enter the hotel, the concierge is on the first floor, where you can get hotel postcards and attraction maps. The fully enclosed lobby is on the sixth floor. The simple, plain color scheme is visually striking, and the check-in counter with Forbidden City stamp elements is unique. The guest rooms are simply and elegantly decorated. The semi-open cloakroom and separate bathroom with dry and wet areas are cleverly designed, and the toiletries are from Thisworks. However, there is a smell of paint when you enter the room, and the hotel thoughtfully provides an air purifier, which initially shows poor air quality. However, other guests have reported no obvious odor, which may vary from room to room. The fitness center on the fifth floor of the hotel is impressive. The 200-square-meter swimming pool has long lanes, clear water, and a comfortable water temperature of 28°C. Although the hot tub is not open, the facilities are complete. The gym has a full range of equipment to meet basic fitness needs. In addition, the children's play area is spacious and full of toys, making it a great place for family activities. In terms of dining, the Zhen Kitchen restaurant on the 39th floor is a mixed bag. Dinner is CNY 179 per person for guests, which is great value for money, with excellent quality, a wide variety, and attentive service, making it one of the best in Shenyang's five-star hotels. However, the breakfast experience is slightly inferior. When I arrived at 8:50, the restaurant was already full, there was a shortage of bread, some dishes were not replenished in time, the tableware was not neatly arranged, and the replenishment was slow, which was in stark contrast to the excellent dinner service. However, the breakfast is varied, with sauerkraut and white meat stew and freshly cooked Shenyang specialty "Song's wontons," which are unique. Overall, Shenyang Marriott Hotel has many highlights in terms of facilities and services, especially for travelers transferring at Shenyang North Railway Station. I hope that Marriott's luxury brands will be introduced to Shenyang in the future to further enhance the city's hotel quality and tourism image.
