If you want to witness one of the most magical natural landscapes in Indonesia, you have to add Bukit Holbung Samosir to your travel list. Located in the Harian District of North Sumatra, this stunning destination is famously nicknamed the "Teletubbies Hill" by locals. Looking at the endless expanses of undulating, velvety green grass rolls, it is incredibly easy to see why! The best part about visiting this paradise is that the trek is entirely beginner-friendly. A clear, straightforward footpath leads you from the parking zone up the ridgeline. It takes just a 10 to 15-minute walk to reach a height that rewards you with an absolutely priceless, 360-degree panoramic view of the world's largest volcanic crater lake. Standing at the peak, watching the deep blue waters of Lake Toba contrast against the massive, dramatic silhouettes of Mount Pusuk Buhit, will completely take your breath away. The cool highland breeze blowing over the open savanna creates a deeply serene, healing atmosphere that calms your soul. Every single angle along the crest serves as the perfect "money shot" backdrop for your travel photos. 💡 Essential Travel Tips for Your Trip: Best Shooting Windows: Arrive between 06:00 and 08:00 to watch the golden sunrise cut through the low valley mist, or head up past 16:00 for warm, soft afternoon lighting. Weather Prep: The hill has virtually zero tree shade. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunblock, and plenty of drinking water to handle the midday heat. Nearby Spots: Combine your trek with a visit to the nearby [Efrata Waterfall] and the winding roads of [Sibeabea Hill] to create an epic one-day Samosir itinerary! Stayed at Hotel Internasional Sibayak Berastagi during our Medan–Lake Toba trip, and honestly, we loved it! 🏔️✨
Berastagi’s cool weather is EVERYTHING — no air-conditioning needed, yet the room feels naturally air-conditioned. 😍 The breakfast has so many delicious choices, the beds are super comfy, and the hotel grounds are spacious with beautiful landscaping and stunning mountain views.

There’s even a little staircase leading straight out to the side door, with Indomaret literally next door — so convenient! 🛒 The hotel is also close to Mount Sinabung, making the scenery even more amazing.

Friendly staff, great facilities, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxing stay. All of us loved it and would definitely come back! ❤️🏔️

Exploring the dreamy shores of Tuktuk Siadong on Lake Toba, North Sumatra, is pure travel magic⛰️🌊 Think glassy water, misty morning skies, and mountains rippling in the distance. If you’re craving nature, chill vibes, and jaw-dropping scenery, this is THE spot!

Top Spots to Visit at Tuktuk Siadong, Lake Toba:
1. Lake Toba – North Sumatra, Indonesia (Open 24/7, year-round)
Walk right down to the shoreline for an unreal view of still water reflecting clouds and distant blue peaks. Sunrise or sunset, the light is epic for photos – bring your camera or just soak it all in.
2. Explore the Tiny Peninsula
Hop on a rented bicycle or scooter and circle the Tuktuk Siadong area. Tiny cafes, friendly locals, and lush green hills make even the “getting around” part super memorable.
3. Chill Cafes by the Water
Grab a seat at a lakeside spot (there are loads along the coast) – order fresh grilled fish and a cup of local coffee. Perfect for watching the clouds drift by and feeling time slow wayyy down.

Pro Tips from My Trip:
Early mornings at the lake are calmest, with glass-smooth water and the best clouds and fog for those postcard-perfect shots. Pack sunblock – it gets bright fast, even if it feels cool!

Getting Around Lake Toba
Renting a scooter or push bike is cheap and the fun way to see the whole Tuktuk Siadong peninsula. Ferries from Parapat drop you right into the village.
