Many say Majia Valley is a hidden gem, and after taking the kids there, we found it truly amazing! Here’s a family-friendly guide with no traffic jams and minimal waiting, making the trip super enjoyable for kids～ 1️⃣ Preparation: After work at 6 PM 🚗 take the highway straight to Maerkang, check into a family-friendly hotel by 11 PM with complete facilities so the kids can rest well. 2️⃣ Family itinerary: Get up at 7:30 AM the next day, have breakfast at the hotel (choose one with kids’ meals so the kids eat well), then depart at 8:30 AM. After an hour, arrive at Majia Valley Visitor Center, wait 20 minutes to board the sightseeing bus. It’s best to arrive before 9:30 AM to avoid crowds and long waits, making it easier with kids. The bus ride takes 10 minutes to the hiking start point. Hike about 3.5 km to Qumeicuo with the kids, enjoying beautiful scenery and several photo spots along the way. Take your time to snap photos with the kids; the round trip takes about 5 hours, no rush at all. Along the way, there are vendors selling potatoes, grilled sausages, and yak skewers, which taste great and provide energy for the kids at reasonable prices. At 2:30 PM, take the sightseeing bus back to the visitor center with no waiting, then at 3 PM 🚗 take the highway back, arriving in Chengdu around 8 PM. The trip with kids is easy and not tiring. 3️⃣ Ticket costs: Tickets + sightseeing bus fare is 90 RMB (children under 1.2 meters are free). No need to buy in advance; it’s convenient to purchase on-site. 4️⃣ Altitude sickness precautions: The scenic area is at 3700-3900m elevation. If the kids have no prior high-altitude experience, prepare glucose, oxygen bottles, and cola in advance to help alleviate altitude sickness. Adjust according to the child’s condition. Severe altitude sickness can affect the experience, so take it seriously. 5️⃣ Family advantages: Majia Valley has few people and beautiful scenery, making it very comfortable for kids to take photos and play without crowds. The trails are well-maintained and safe, so kids can walk on their own, making it easier for parents. The stunning natural scenery allows kids to deeply experience the charm of nature.
