The Twelve Perfect Enlightenment Bodhisattvas (Part One)

The Twelve Perfect Enlightenment Bodhisattvas at Faxing Temple are incredibly beloved and are one of the three treasures of Faxing Temple. These Song Dynasty statues inherit the lingering style of the Tang Dynasty, appearing full and rich, dignified and elegant. They pass down the divine charm of Song Dynasty sculpture, being restrained and subtle, with vivid spirit, and are praised as the crown of Song Dynasty Bodhisattva sculptures. These Song sculptures were made in the first year of the Zhenghe era of the Song Dynasty (1111 AD). Each one is exquisitely solemn and majestic in posture, not only shining with the brilliance of Buddhahood but also overflowing with the compassionate and intimate maternal spirit. I lingered in the Perfect Enlightenment Hall for a long time, photographing the Bodhisattvas from different angles to perfectly present their forms.
