Take a 22-minute train from Manchester Piccadilly Station to Greenfield, where there is a large Tesco for ample supplies. After stocking up, walk about 40 minutes to 📍Dovestone Reservoir and Chew Reservoir circular route. AllTrails data shows 13.5 km with 442m elevation gain. The weather was bad, but since we were already there, we set out from Greenfield with umbrellas. Later, we gave up the umbrellas and let the cold sleet soak us through. We climbed counterclockwise along the road, then turned onto hillside meadows, which surprisingly were quite easy to walk on and not muddy. At 14:40, the sky gradually cleared and the rain and snow stopped just as we were heading down. We chose the fastest route down (red on map 18). The whole trip took 5 hours. The beauty of the Peak District is not striking; the hills and highlands surround several reservoirs, creating a relatively harmonious and beautiful scene. But at first glance, it surprisingly resembles the Scottish Highlands. Hiking in the rain has its own unique charm.
