At the end of July, with a gentle breeze and music in the air, both adults and children can unwind and enjoy a truly healing and joyful experience. Tips for visiting Tickets and entry 1. The event takes place at Lulworth Castle from July 30 to August 2, 2026. Children under 5 enter free but must register for a free child ticket in advance. 2. Strict ID checks at entry. Anyone under 25 buying alcohol must show a passport, driver’s license, or other valid ID. Day ticket holders cannot bring their own alcohol. 3. Entry stops at midnight daily. On Sunday, gates close at 8:30 PM. Plan your visit accordingly. Prohibited items 1. The arch itself is a collapsed limestone sea-cave, best shot from the beach at low tide—check the tide table or you stand under a 20 m wall of water. Rule that surprises people: you may not climb on the arch (it is crumbling and roped off seasonally), and drones need landowner permission. From Durdle Door east, the path passes Man O’War Bay (pebbly swim spot, cold even in August) and drops into Lulworth Cove’s circular bay where a kiosk sells £4 ice cream. I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve stayed here over the years—it always feels so welcoming and comfortable that we’d stay even more if we could. We come here to explore the lovely towns and villages of Dorset on holiday, and we absolutely love it. The staff are fantastic, like old friends; we wave to Atilla 👋 and Hollie, and we know many by name. There are too many to list, but a big hello and thank you to everyone for the wonderful service☺️. The twin rooms are our favorite because the beds are incredibly spacious and comfortable. The showers are fantastic, featuring huge, fluffy bath towels. The lifts are always operational, and you can grab snacks and drinks at the ground-floor bar. Breakfast is included and offers a generous buffet of hot and cold food, catering to all tastes. It's always well-organized and beautifully presented. Parking options include free road spaces in front of the hotel if you’re lucky enough to find one. We often find a spot, but otherwise, there's a large public car park between the Hilton and the Hampton, costing £13.50 per day. We’ve never had an issue with this hotel—it’s consistently excellent. We’d recommend it over and over again.

We had a lovely experience at the Royal Exeter Hotel. While there was music next door, they clearly mentioned it on their website, and the polite lady at reception also reminded us about the potential nightlife vibes. For us, celebrating our anniversary here was absolutely brilliant. The amenities added to our comfort, and we enjoyed live music at 1812 before heading to the top floor bar at Bar So next door. The DJ hit just the right note, perfectly matching our cocktails. I've read some reviews mentioning noise on weekend nights, but I want to share a different perspective. If you're traveling from somewhere like London, as we did, to enjoy the coast, celebrate, and explore Dorset, it shouldn't come as a surprise to hear some nightlife sounds when staying in the city center. For us, this was part of the charm. Being in the heart of everything was the right choice, especially when a 1-2 minute walk gets you straight to the beach for morning coffee. We had no issues at all—in fact, we made the most of it! The location and the connected venues were so convenient. A special thanks to the lovely lady, Kubra, at reception, who ensured our stay was pleasant. The room was clean, comfortable, and great value. We’ll definitely be back later this summer!

If you are looking for beautiful seaside views, great shopping and tasty food restaurants, look no further than Lyme Regis. The sea is welcoming, the views are stunning, amazing walks, sauna on the beach, icecreams and lots of variety in places to eat and drink. Also lots of quirky shops to look around and places to stay. Lyme Regis is known as the pearl of Dorset and is part of the stunning Jurassic coastline where many interesting fossils can be found. The Cobb which is the iconic 13th-century stone pier and breakwater protects the harbour and offers fantastic walking and views across Lyme Bay. The famous writer Jane Austen has a deep historical and literary connection to Lyme Regis. After visiting the town around 1803, she fell was so enamoured with it that she chose it as the setting for her final completed novel, Persuasion.

Sometimes you just need to get out of the city, even if it is just for a day. On a crisp morning in London, I hopped on a train from Waterloo with only one goal in mind: fresh air and the ocean. Three hours later, I found myself in the quiet countryside of Dorset, ready to see one of the most iconic coastlines in England: Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. 🚆 Getting There I took the morning train from London Waterloo to Wool, which took almost three hours. It felt long at first, but the moment the scenery shifted from buildings to endless fields, it already felt like a mini holiday. I arrived at Wool Station around 11 AM. As soon as I stepped onto the platform, I spotted the bus stop right in front of the station. The signs clearly showed routes to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, which made it completely stress free. Buses run periodically and the exact frequency depends on the season, so it is worth checking the timetable in advance. Overall, it could not have been easier. 📍First Stop: Durdle Door The bus drops you at the top of a hill and from there it is a short downhill walk to the viewpoint. The moment Durdle Door came into sight, I actually paused for a second. The massive limestone arch carved naturally by the sea feels unreal. No photo ever prepares you for how dramatic it looks in real life. You can walk down to the beach, which has a steep descent but is manageable. The beach is all pebbles, not soft sand, but the view makes up for everything. I stayed for a while just watching the waves crash through the arch. 📍Next Stop: Lulworth Cove From Durdle Door you can walk to Lulworth Cove. It takes around 25 to 40 minutes depending on how often you stop, and trust me, you will stop for photos because every part of the trail is stunning. Lulworth Cove has a completely different feeling compared to Durdle Door. It feels like a small and peaceful seaside village wrapped around a perfectly circular bay. I grabbed a snack near the water, wandered around the shoreline and just enjoyed the calm energy of the place. 🚆 Heading Back When it was time to return, I took the same bus back to Wool Station and then boarded the train back to London Waterloo. I arrived back in the city tired in the best possible way. Salty hair, sleepy eyes and the kind of quiet happiness that only nature can give. 💬 Final Thoughts and Budget Recap If you live in London or are visiting and you crave a breath of something real like cliffs, sea wind and open views, Dorset is the perfect escape. No car required and no complicated planning at all. Just a train and a bus that take you straight into nature. For a one day trip, this was my rough spending: Train: £30 to £45 Bus to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove: £8 to £10 Food: £10 to £15 (optional and based on preference) You can do this trip comfortably for £50 to £70 in total.
