The Rainbow River is nestled within Serranía de la Macarena National Park in Colombia’s Meta Department. Exploring Caño Cristales, Colombia: The Ultimate Guide to the Dreamy "Liquid Rainbow" Located in the heart of Serranía de la Macarena National Park in Colombia, Caño Cristales is a natural marvel like no other. Between June and November, the riverbed comes alive as the Macarenia clavigera aquatic plants bloom, painting the waters in a surreal palette of red, yellow, green, blue, and black. Often called the "Most Beautiful River in the World" or the "Liquid Rainbow," this fairy-tale destination is a true bucket-list experience for any nature lover. Recommended Itinerary Your journey begins in the small town of La Macarena. Since solo exploration is restricted to protect the environment, you’ll need to join a licensed guided tour. From there, a mix of jeeps and speedboats will take you deep into the national park. The typical route covers three iconic spots: Los Ochos, Piscina del Turista, and El Tapete. Los Ochos is a photographer’s dream, featuring crystal-clear crimson waters flowing through unique rock formations. Piscina del Turista offers calmer currents, where you can see the vibrant layers of underwater flora in stunning detail. El Tapete resembles a vast "colorful carpet"—the perfect spot for tiered photos. The trek involves 3 to 4 hours of hiking and wading, with breathtaking views around every corner. Top Highlights & Photo Ops 1. Capture the Colors: Each section of the river offers a different hue. Get those close-ups, especially where the reds and yellows blend—it’s pure magic. 📸 2. Refreshing Dip: Cool off by soaking your feet in the shallow, crystal-clear spring water. 💧 3. Waterfall Backdrops: Small, cascading waterfalls set against the multicolored riverbed make for epic photos. 4. Aerial Views: If your tour offers drone shots, take advantage! Seeing the bands of color from above is absolutely jaw-dropping. Travel Tips · Plan Ahead: To preserve the ecosystem, visitor numbers are strictly capped. Book your guide and lodging at least a month in advance. · Timing is Everything: Visit between mid-June and early November. This is when the water levels are perfect for the plants to display their most vibrant colors. 🌈 · Gear Up: Bring non-slip water shoes and quick-dry clothing. You’ll be navigating boulders and wading through water. · Eco-Rules: Sunscreen, insect repellent, and lotions are strictly forbidden to prevent chemical damage to the fragile ecosystem. 🚫🧴 · Be Prepared: The journey involves multiple flights, boats, and treks. It’s physically demanding, so make sure you’re up for the adventure. · Off the Grid: There is no cell service or shops inside the park. Pack plenty of water, snacks, and extra camera batteries. Important Safety Notes · Never attempt to enter the park without a licensed guide. Always follow the instructions of the park staff. · Look, but don’t touch. Do not pick the underwater plants and stay strictly on the designated paths. · Proper outdoor gear is essential for the long treks. · The area can be buggy. Wear long sleeves and pants to avoid bites, and wash off once you’re back at your accommodation.

#bucketlistdestinations La Planada Nature Reserve, in Colombia’s Nariño Department, is 80 km west of Pasto via RN-25 (3 hrs, paved + gravel). The Sendero El Bosque de Niebla trail starts at the Reserve Entrance (entry COP 50,000 ~USD 12.00, card accepted, open 8:00–16:00). The 4 km loop descends through a mossy Chocó rainforestwhere Wax palms(Colombia’s national tree) are draped in Usnealichens and emerald moss, and the air smells of damp earth and orchids. I hiked it in October (rainy season)—the moss was so thick it muffled my footsteps, and the cock-of-the-rockwas calling from a mossy ravine. The trail is steep with muddy sections; I wore waterproof boots and used trekking poles. No camping allowed, but the reserve has a guesthouse (USD 30/night, includes meals). Carry 2 L water; the trail has no water sources, but the reserve provides filtered water. Mistake: I wore a bright red jacket—the cock-of-the-rock(a bright red bird) got agitated and dive-bombed me. Wear muted colors in the Chocó forest. Kindness beat: a reserve biologist named Ana showed me a poison dart froghiding in a mossy log and explained how the moss filters water for the reserve’s rivers. She also gave me a free guayusatea sample (a local energizing herb). Should a Chocó rainforest be a nature reserve, or should local communities be allowed to harvest its moss and orchids sustainably?

If I had to choose one city in South America simply for its colors, atmosphere, and energy, Cartagena would be very high on my list. There’s something about the combination of Caribbean light, colorful colonial buildings, balconies covered in flowers, street art, music and warm evenings that makes Cartagena feel completely different from anywhere else. 🌈 Getsemaní I’d start in Getsemaní, probably with no real plan. This is the kind of neighborhood where you can turn down a random street and find colorful houses, murals, hanging umbrellas, flower-covered balconies and tiny cafés. I’d want to walk around slowly rather than trying to see everything in one afternoon. 🏛️ Cartagena’s Old Town Then I’d spend time inside the Walled City, where brightly painted colonial buildings line narrow cobblestone streets. The best part would probably be noticing the little details: wooden doors, colorful balconies, old churches, flower-filled courtyards and local shops. It seems like a city where almost every street deserves a photo. 🎨 Street Art & Caribbean Culture Cartagena isn’t just colorful because of its architecture. The music, murals, local crafts and Caribbean influences give the city a completely different energy. I’d definitely spend an evening wandering through Getsemaní, listening to music coming from the streets and stopping whenever something catches my attention. 🌊 Rosario Islands After a few days in the city, I’d want to escape to the Rosario Islands. Turquoise Caribbean water, small islands and white-sand beaches would be the perfect contrast to Cartagena’s busy streets. One day exploring colorful streets, the next swimming in clear tropical water sounds like a pretty good combination to me. 🍤 And the food… I’d also make food a major part of the trip. I’d want to try arepas de huevo, ceviche, empanadas, patacones, fresh seafood and Caribbean-style rice. And I’d definitely leave room for fresh tropical fruit and a cold drink after walking around in the heat. 🌅 Cartagena at sunset But the moment I’d probably look forward to most is sunset. I’d find a rooftop somewhere inside the Old Town, watch the warm light fall over the colorful buildings and stay until the streets start glowing at night. That contrast between the golden evening light, old architecture and Caribbean atmosphere seems impossible to resist. Cartagena feels like the kind of city where you don’t need a perfect itinerary. You just need comfortable shoes, a camera, and enough time to wander. 🇨🇴🌴🌈 Would you explore Cartagena’s colorful streets first or head straight to the Rosario Islands? #Cartagena #CartagenaColombia #ColombiaTravel #VisitColombia #TravelColombia #SouthAmericaTravel #CartagenaTravel #Getsemani #RosarioIslands #CaribbeanTravel #TravelInspiration #TravelPhotography #ColorfulPlaces #WorldTravel #Tripcom

#easytravelpost Laguna de la Cocha (Lake Guamuez) sits 27 km west of Pasto at 2,800 m, second-largest natural lake in Colombia. From Pasto's terminal take a bus/shared taxi to El Encano (2,000–4,000 COP, 40 min), then a lancha from the El Puerto dock to Isla de La Corota (round-trip ~10,500 COP/person, ~5 min crossing). The island is Santuario de Flora, Colombia's smallest national park — no separate ticket, but a small cash donation at the dock cabin (5,000–10,000 COP suggested). I took the 07:00 Pasto→El Encano bus (3,000 COP), boated across at 08:20, and walked the El Quiche trail (550 m) to the viewpoint. The moss is the Andean cloud forest on volcanic ash: Weinmannia and Podocarpus with Thuidium on the buttress roots 2 cm thick, 11°C in May, a great thrush, the lake mirror-flat below the Quillasinga sacred island. I sat at the mirador at 09:00, the moss on the railing posts black-green with drip, ate a 6,000 COP El Encano trucha frita, watched a couple paddle a canoe into the morning mist. Mistake: I came at 14:00 in August — wind chop on the lake, boatmen reluctant, island fogged; 08:00–10:00 only. Another: the 10,500 COP boat is shared — don't prepay a "private 50k COP" in Pasto, it's the same lancha. Would you bus 3k + boat 10.5k COP for the El Encano→La Corota mossy Andean-forest island walk, or skip the island and do the free lakeshore trout-lunch loop at El Puerto instead?

Imagine hiking through the Colombian jungle and suddenly finding a river that looks like someone poured red, yellow, green and blue paint into the water. But this isn’t a painting. It’s completely natural. Welcome to Caño Cristales, one of Colombia’s most extraordinary natural wonders and one of the world’s most unusual rivers. 🇨🇴 Located in Sierra de La Macarena National Natural Park, this river becomes a spectacular explosion of color when the aquatic plant Macarenia clavigera reaches its peak. Depending on the section of the river, sunlight and water conditions, you can see intense shades of red, pink, yellow, green, blue and dark tones flowing across the rocky riverbed. 🌿❤️💛💚💙 And here’s the part that makes the experience even better: You don’t just come here to look at it. The area offers guided hikes through the surrounding landscapes, viewpoints, waterfalls and natural pools. In designated areas, visitors can even enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear water. 🥾💦 📍 WHERE: La Macarena, Meta, Colombia 🌈 KNOWN AS: The River of Five Colors 🌿 WHY IT’S COLORFUL: The aquatic plant Macarenia clavigera creates the spectacular colors 🥾 WHAT TO DO: Hiking, photography, wildlife watching, waterfalls and swimming in authorized areas 🚤 HOW TO GET THERE: Most travelers fly to La Macarena, then continue by boat, 4×4 and guided hiking routes to reach the river. The journey is part of the adventure. From La Macarena, visitors travel along the Guayabero River and through the spectacular landscapes of Sierra de La Macarena before reaching the colorful river. (Kolombiya Seyahat) 🌦️ WHEN TO GO? The colorful season generally occurs during the wetter months. Official Colombian tourism information highlights May–November, with July and August often offering especially vibrant conditions. (Kolombiya Seyahat) But there is an important rule here: This is a fragile ecosystem. Visitors must follow the local guides and environmental regulations, stay on designated routes and only swim where permitted. Sunscreen, creams, makeup and insect repellent should not be applied before entering the river because they can harm the aquatic plant responsible for its colors. (Ulusal Parklar) Standing beside this river must feel like discovering a completely different planet. Would you believe this was real if you saw the photo without knowing where it was? 🌈🇨🇴 📌 Save this for your Colombia bucket list. #CanoCristales #ColombiaTravel #VisitColombia #RiverOfFiveColors #LaMacarena #MetaColombia #ColombiaNature #NaturalWonders #RainbowRiver #MacareniaClavigera #ExploreColombia #SouthAmericaTravel #BucketListTravel #NatureLovers #TravelInspiration

#easytravelpost El Cocuy National Park (Colombia) reopened with tight rules: foreign entry ~COP 70,000–90,000, register in Güicán, hire a local guide (mandatory, COP 120,000/day/group), and enter only Fri–Sun in high season. I bused Bogotá→Duitama→Güicán (total 8 hrs, COP 45,000), slept at a guesthouse (COP 40,000), and entered with a guide at 06:00. The walk to Laguna Ritacuwa is 7 km one-way from the Las Cabañas trailhead (3,900 m) to 4,600 m, flat-ish páramo then a moraine scramble. Ritacuwa is a black-bottomed tarn under the Ritacuwa Blanco glacier cliff—ice falls calve occasionally, the guide whistles you back. Frailejones waist-high on the páramo, condor nests on the east wall. I carried 3 L, no water source reliable past 4,200 m. Cloud builds by 11 a.m.; we were down by 13:00. Mistake: I tried to enter mid-week in July and the gate was closed—Fri–Sun only, check the latest Parques Nacionales Colombia resolution before going. Another: I wore a softshell and the 4,600 m wind cut through; hard shell + puffy. Would you do Ritacuwa as a guided day-hike from Güicán, or backpack to the 4,200 m camp and push to the glacier cliff at first light?

Stepping into Guatapé feels like entering a vivid, joyful canvas bursting with life and color. Tucked away in the green hills of Colombia's Antioquia region alongside a sprawling maze of glittering blue lakes, this charming town is famous the world over for its traditional "zócalos." These are brightly painted, intricately crafted bas-relief panels that decorate the lower halves of every single whitewashed building, depicting local village life, flora, and fauna. Stundering through its vibrant, sun-drenched streets, framed by the towering monolith of El Peñol rising in the distance, was an utterly enchanting and uplifting experience. ☀️🏡 . 📅 What I experienced · Climbing El Peñol (La Piedra del Peñol): Scaling the 740 concrete steps built into the massive granite monolith towering over the reservoir. Reaching the summit and looking out over the breathtaking, surreal maze of green islands and blue water was a triumph that left me speechless. · Exploring the Colorful Zócalos: Spending hours wandering through the bustling streets of the town center, marveling at the vibrant pastel houses where every single storefront tells its own artistic story through brilliant bas-reliefs. · Boating on the Reservoir: Taking a relaxing boat tour out on the vast, island-dotted waters created by the hydroelectric dam, cruising past lakeside estates and hidden corners of the region. . 🏨 Where I stayed · I stayed in a cozy, charming guesthouse nestled right by the lakeside just outside the main town. Waking up to the sound of birdsong and watching the morning mist rise off the calm, island-flecked water from my balcony was absolute serenity. 🛏️☕ . 🍴 My culinary highlights · Colombian Andean cuisine is hearty and deeply comforting. I savored a traditional *bandeja paisa* loaded with grilled steak, chicharrón, rice, beans, plantains, and an arepa, followed by a sweet cup of world-class Colombian coffee. 🥩☕ . 📌 My tips for visiting · Climb the Rock Early: The stairs to the top of El Peñol get very hot and crowded by midday. Head up early in the morning to beat both the heat and the tour groups from Medellín. · Wear Comfortable Walking Shoes: The town streets are paved with colorful cobblestones and the climb up the rock requires tackling hundreds of steps, so wear supportive sneakers. · Plan Your Transport from Medellín: Guatapé is easily visited as a day trip or an overnight stay from Medellín via local buses or organized shuttles, taking about two hours each way through scenic mountain roads. 📸🎒 . #Guatape #Antioquia #ColombiaTravel #VisitColombia #TravelDeep #PiedraDelPenol #ColorfulTown #BucketList #ExploreColombia #TravelDiaries

#easytravelpost Laguna Verde Azul is a twin-lake system at 3,800 m—one lake green from algae, the other blue from glacial silt—ringed by cliffs covered in moss and Polylepistrees. I flew to Pasto, took a 2-hour bus to Túquerres (15,000 COP, cash), then a 4x4 to the trailhead at La Esperanza (30,000 COP, cash). The hike: 14 km round trip, +600 m, 6–7 hours. The “cliff mossy ridge” starts after the first 4 km: the trail climbs a ridge where moss covers the cliffs and the two lakes are visible below. Laguna Verde Azul is a 2.5-hour walk from the trailhead, its colors so vivid they look Photoshopped. I ate a patacónfrom my pack and watched a Andean fox(culpeo) trot along the ridge. Mistake: I didn’t bring a hat—the sun at 3,800 m is intense, and I got sunburned. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and SPF 50. The park charges a 20,000 COP entry fee (cash only) and requires you to hire a local guide (40,000 COP for a group of up to 5). A guide told me, “The lakes are sisters; the moss is their shared blanket.” Should we build a visitor center at Laguna Verde Azul, or would it ruin the mossy ridge’s solitude?

The restaurant features wooden decor paired with lush greenery, giving off a super cozy vibe. They focus on healthy eating, and many dishes list the nutritional info like calories, protein, total fat, and carbs, making it perfect for gym-goers, those trying to keep fit, or anyone health-conscious. Plus, the lunch menu changes every two months, keeping things fresh and exciting. . Also noticed that their new branch in Causeway Bay's Times Square just opened, which is super convenient for the Hong Kong Island crowd! . ♡ All Day Mood Breakfast $138 The plate is absolutely loaded with food—super generous portions! It comes with scrambled eggs, pork sausage, bacon, smoked salmon, mushrooms, sourdough bread, and salad. Instead of the usual butter or jam, the sourdough is spread with pesto, which is a nice touch. It's packed with the rich flavor of garlic and olive oil! Polishing off this plate will put you in a good mood all day long! . ♡ Sizzling Shakshuka with Dark Rye Sourdough $128 Served in a sizzling pan, piping hot, keeping the food at the perfect temperature! The Shakshuka, topped with tomatoes and pickles, is super appetizing, and the dark rye sourdough is perfectly toasted and crispy. Pairing it with the toppings gives it a great texture. ☕️ For coffee, you can choose between a nutty or fruity blend. . Nutty blend (Brazil and Guatemala) is a medium-dark roast. Fruity blend (Colombia and Ethiopia) is a medium roast. They also offer a wide variety of milk options: whole, skim, oat, almond, soy, and a homemade Earl Grey milk—catering to everyone's needs! . ♡ Black Sesame Oat Milk Latte The latte art was a grumpy face, which was pretty funny! You can really taste the roasted aroma of black sesame. I opted for the homemade Earl Grey milk and added a shot of hazelnut syrup for $5, so it was on the sweeter side. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely add the syrup like I did. . ♡ Chia Seed Collagen Iced Coffee This is my first time trying coffee mixed with chia seeds, a well-known superfood. Such a unique combo! The little chia seeds give every sip an amazing texture. . ✨ If you love the food here, you should definitely sign up for their membership to score some great deals! Piedra del Peñol, a massive monolith approximately 220 meters tall, is located near the colorful Colombian town of Guatapé. This rock formation, suddenly appearing in the middle of nature, is breathtaking even from the windows of a passing car or bus! 🗿 History and Data of the Sacred Rock This rock is said to have formed approximately 70 million years ago and has a history of being revered as a sacred site by the indigenous people (Tahami) who once lived in the region. There are 740 zigzag steps carved into the rock's cracks, and the climb to the top takes about 20 minutes. 🚶 Access and Climbing Route Take a bus from the colorful town of Guatapé to the base of the rock. From there, first climb the initial steps to the souvenir area, purchase a ticket, and then continue towards the summit. There are many souvenir shops and cafes at the base of the rock, and you can also purchase drinks and rest at the summit. 🌊 A Rewarding View from the Summit From the mountaintop, a magnificent 360-degree panoramic view unfolds, encompassing countless islands and beautiful lakes! Colombia often has a reputation for being unsafe, but the area around Guatapé felt completely different; it was a very peaceful and tranquil tourist destination. 🌼 *Spending time: Approximately 3 hours in total, including sightseeing in the surrounding area. Afterward, we recommend returning to the town of Guatapé and relaxing! 📍 Piedra del Peñol Guatapé, Antioquia, Colombia #Guatapé #Colombia #colombia #guatape #piedradelpeñol

Colombia's vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes shine through the colorful streets of Cartagena and the coffee region's rolling hills. For Cartagena, wander the walled old city at sunrise to see the colonial balconies draped in bougainvillea without the heat or crowds—explore the Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, a massive fortress with a network of tunnels, then cool off in the evening with a fresh fruit juice from a street vendor in Plaza de los Coches while salsa music drifts from nearby bars. For the Coffee Triangle (Eje Cafetero), base yourself in Salento—hike through the towering wax palms in the Cocora Valley early in the morning to see the mist rise over the national tree of Colombia, then visit a family-run finca to learn the coffee-making process from bean to cup, ending your day with a traditional bandeja paisa dinner in the town's main square. For a truly unique experience, take a boat from Cartagena to the nearby Islas del Rosario to swim in bioluminescent plankton at night, then explore the palafitos (stilt houses) of La Boquilla to see how local fishing communities live along the mangrove-lined coast.

Bogotá totally wowed me ✨! This city has a rep for being edgy, but I swear, the vibe now is all chill energy, color, and killer personality. My HQ was Zona Rosa 🖤 — seriously, if you want top shops, nightlife, and those cool after-dinner strolls, this is *the* spot. It’s got that easy breezy energy you need for a glam weekend escape. First stop: Museo Botero 🫶 — if you love quirky, bold art, this place is honestly addictive. Fernando Botero’s chunky, bold forms are everywhere, and the whole place just oozes Colombian creativity. Find it at Calle 11 , open Mon-Sat 9am-7pm. Next up: the legendary Gold Museum ✨ (Museo del Oro). It surprises me with its wild collection of ancient gold artifacts. Total history overload — but make it bling. Address: Carrera 6 , open Tue-Sat 9am-6pm, Sun & hols 10am-4pm. A quick detour to the emerald markets 💚 — these are pure Colombia vibes. The stones, the sparkle, the stories… You can’t NOT get swept up in the local energy (and trust me, you’ll want to buy yourself a little something!). My favorite dish was ajiaco 🍲 — classic Bogotá comfort food that’s sooo good on a rainy day. Chicken, creamy corn broth, smoky local potatoes... you already know I’m craving it again. Pro tips: – Bring a light jacket — the weather flips fast from sunny to dramatic clouds. – The old town is Insta-perfect, but don’t skip the modern neighborhoods for crazy good desserts. Bogotá is now high-key on my “must repeat” list. Epic art, good eats, and way more chill than you think! Did you know that the Huila region actually ranks first in coffee production in Colombia? Salento is popular with tourists thanks to its many coffee tours, but it's only about 10th in the country in terms of production. This time, I came to Garzon, the center of Huila, to visit a farm that isn't a tourist destination! Interesting Point 1 The annual village birthday celebration: horses everywhere! 🐴 Horses marched down the village's main street from one end to the other. Men and women of all ages, dressed as cowboys, rode around with tequila in hand, looking incredibly cool. Interesting Point 2 Despite the many coffee farms surrounding the area, there was only one specialty coffee shop. It seemed like there weren't any tourists there just for the coffee. However, the quality of this cafe was incredibly high. Prices were low to accommodate the locals, but the quality was exceptional. It's run by a Colombian barista champion, so I was impressed. Interesting Point 3 Cows and horses on an unfenced road 🐴🐮 I knew I couldn't reach my destination without passing through here, so I risked my life to slip through them. It was truly scary 😭 That's all about Garzon. It's a little out of the way, but I recommend it for those who want to experience a local atmosphere that you can't get in a big city. 🚌Garzon is about 8 hours from Salento via Neiva. I joined a free tour of Comuna 13. This area was once a gang stronghold and considered one of the most dangerous places in the world until seven years ago. The government eradicated the mafia, and locals from this area began painting graphic art on the walls, transforming it into Medellín's top tourist destination today. However, before reaching this point, many lives were tragically lost in the process. Free tours are held almost daily, so be sure to join one and hear the stories. Price 💲 Free. After the tour, you can tip voluntarily. Duration ⏰ 2 to 3 hours Access About 15 minutes by Uber from the city center. There are several tours available, and the places visited vary depending on the guide, so it's worth going multiple times!

Located in the heart of Colombia's Coffee Triangle, Salento is a paradise for coffee enthusiasts. The coffee experience here is undoubtedly the highlight, but as for the food, it's best to keep your expectations in check. Highly recommend joining a local coffee plantation tour or visiting the town's charming coffee shops to savor some exceptional coffee. However, the local cuisine might leave you a bit disappointed. After trying a few restaurants in town, the flavors and textures were underwhelming. It's best not to expect too much—just grab a simple bite to fill your stomach.

Located in the heart of Colombia's Coffee Triangle, Salento is a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts. Joining a local coffee plantation tour is highly recommended! In mid-November, Salento's gentle rain adds a refreshing touch to the coffee plantations, creating a unique experience. After the rain, the coffee leaves and cherries appear even greener, and the air is filled with the earthy aroma of soil and coffee fruits. The lighting is perfect for capturing atmospheric photos. 🌿 Highlights of the experience: A 3-hour guided tour in English, offering detailed explanations about coffee tree cultivation and coffee bean varieties. You can even plant coffee seedlings, pick coffee beans, taste fresh coffee beans, and sample three different coffee flavors. The serene environment of the plantation, surrounded by coffee trees, is ideal for photography. 📌 Tips: · Wear non-slip shoes! The mountain paths can be steep, making it easier to navigate while picking coffee beans. · No need to book in advance, but during peak seasons, it's better to arrive early.

Cocora Valley 🌴 in Colombia offers visitors the chance to explore the world's tallest wax palm trees through hiking or horseback riding, depending on your physical ability and interests. 1️⃣ Hiking ⛰️ Hiking is the most popular way to explore Cocora Valley, ideal for those with good stamina who want to delve deep into the cloud forest. Route Options: · Full Loop: Approximately 10-14 km in length, taking around 5-7 hours to complete. · Direct to Palms: If you're short on time, you can walk directly to the main viewpoints (Miradors), which takes about 60 minutes one way. ✨ Challenges and Essentials: · Trail Conditions: The paths can become extremely muddy and slippery due to rain, so it's essential to wear professional waterproof hiking boots or rent rain boots locally. · Altitude: Some sections exceed 2,700 meters above sea level, so be mindful of altitude sickness. 2️⃣ Horseback Riding 🐴🐎 Horseback riding is perfect for those who prefer not to walk long distances or want to experience the valley's stunning scenery in a shorter time. ✨ Highlights: · A professional guide will accompany you (either walking or riding alongside), leading you through rivers, forests, and to the viewpoints. It's safe even for beginners, as the horses are usually gentle and familiar with the trails. · 💰 Cost: Prices vary depending on the length of the trip and whether it includes a guide or transportation. Best Time to Visit: It's recommended to start your journey between 7:00 and 8:00 AM from Salento by jeep to avoid afternoon fog, thunderstorms, and crowds. Gear: Regardless of your chosen activity, be sure to bring a raincoat, sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks, and cash.

The highlight of my South American trip! 🥰 Seeing it in person is 100 times more stunning than photos 🌿 World's Tallest Palm Trees 🌴: The valley is home to Colombia's national tree, the wax palm, which can grow up to 60 meters tall. These palms sway mystically amidst the mist, creating a magical scene ✨️. Breathtaking Scenery: Situated at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, the valley is surrounded by mountains, offering a paradise-like view of misty forests, streams, and meadows. Diverse Activities: Besides hiking, you can also explore on horseback, with cafes and farms along the way.
