I decided on the Comfort Inn for my stay in New Jersey. The night view of New York from across the river is amazing. In the mornings, I can stroll along the Hudson River and enjoy watching the birds. There's a Japanese supermarket (Mitsuwa) a 5-minute walk away, and a Trader Joe's on the premises. There are also pizza places and Greek restaurants nearby, making it perfect for a first-time New York visitor, as you won't have any trouble with daily life. Whole Foods is another 5-minute walk on the other side. You can easily take the bus to Times Square from the bus stop and go out to have fun anytime. I returned around 11 PM, but I didn't feel unsafe. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be the lack of a laundromat. I want to go again!
