Hudson's Winter Tapestry: Nature Meets Urban Life
On an ordinary winter's day, devoid of the typical snow blanket, I embarked on a less-expected journey behind the bustling Mitsuwa Supermarket in Edgewater, New Jersey. This exploration led me along the enigmatic path of the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway, an urban sanctuary nestled in nature's embrace.
The Hudson River, undisturbed by winter's chill, mirrored the stark silhouettes of leafless trees and the glittering New York City skyline in the distance. Despite the season's austerity, signs of life punctuated the scene. I observed mallards and geese serenely navigating the water, their presence a heartening testament to the resilience of nature amidst urbanity.
This riverside path, seemingly untouched by winter's harsh grip, invited me into a quiet world of contemplation. An isolated bench, signs of well-trodden footprints, and the muted sounds of life added to the walkway's charm. Yet, the ever-present hum of the city was never far, creating an intriguing symbiosis of urban life and nature.
This unexpected adventure along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway was a reminder that beauty often resides in the unnoticed corners of our everyday surroundings. The harmony between the city's hustle and nature's tranquility, the geese's serene float on the river against the NYC skyline, it all painted an extraordinary tapestry of winter in Edgewater.

Accommodation in New Jersey
I decided on the Comfort Inn for my stay in New Jersey. The night view of New York from across the river is amazing. In the mornings, I can stroll along the Hudson River and enjoy watching the birds.
There's a Japanese supermarket (Mitsuwa) a 5-minute walk away, and a Trader Joe's on the premises. There are also pizza places and Greek restaurants nearby, making it perfect for a first-time New York visitor, as you won't have any trouble with daily life.
Whole Foods is another 5-minute walk on the other side.
You can easily take the bus to Times Square from the bus stop and go out to have fun anytime. I returned around 11 PM, but I didn't feel unsafe.
If I had to mention one drawback, it would be the lack of a laundromat.
I want to go again!
